do you have any idea if we can retrofit/swap g20e(9kw) or 530e battery module to this one ? so maybe we can get extra kilometer out of the EV drive system? can you show if the 530e battery module can fit in the aluminium case of that 330e or not ? from my reading thru internet, newer 330e a.k.a g20e has same amount of module but higher density battery cell. thank you fr your reply
the 530e has 6 modules the 330e only fits 5 in that battery box, the contactor box is the same, in July 2019 BMW offered a 10 kWh battery pack instead of this 7 kWh so look for a newer donor car, but the newer modules are a different cell configuration so you need their BMS to match
@@Good-Enuff-Garage thank you sir. very informative reply. i will keep on following your video particularly regarding this series. so much things to learn although electric it not actually my cup of tea :D
Really cannot thank you enough. I’ve been toying with the idea of cracking open my 330e and have been waiting for someone to take the leap and show me how it’s done - also was waiting till my warranty expired. As fate would have it, error code P0EEC flashed last night, and I am seeing it described as a “Battery Energy Control Module 'B'” issue. I’m guessing this is referring to one of the BMS’ connected to each module (part 482-940) and not the master unit (686-021?) because 940 is described as “control module” instead of 021 being called “control unit”. Do you have any idea opinion on this? Regardless I just watched all your BMW content and subscribed. I seriously appreciate the work you’re doing here man.
Thank you for this amazing video. I’m from Malaysia. Now I know why it took 10weeks at the main dealer to do isolation testing on the modules as directed by BMW. Eventually they replaced module 5.
Please keep in mind, that you use "high voltage battery disconnect", it does NOT mean the car is safe to work on. In EVs there is a 12v to 400-800v convertor that can work in BOTH directions.
Hi great video. I was wondering if it’s possible to add on battery expansion to my existing 2018 530e 9kwh to extend the electric range. Ps: happy to sacrifice my trunk space
👏 , one question does Bmw battery in 530e 2017 are reliable and modules balancing when I charge full, and is the battery going to full should be 4.10v or Bmw design to charge cell less 3.9v?
I would say no as they went from 16s to 8s cell configuration requiring different BMS slave modules etc., but I do own both 530e packs the 2019 and older 9 kWh SP06 and the 2019 and newer 10 kWh SP41 so I hope to do a proper Stare and Compare video soon
how long do these batterys last does it depend on miles or years, as i seen some new ones 2021 with over 120k on it, are they not reliable after that mileage ?
I have 2016 bmw 330 e battery still going strong got 18 miles to 20 range with 92000 miles on it here in 🇬🇧
171 000 miles on mine and 18 miles still lasting. Very good batteries!

thank you for the kind words, try swapping that slave module with another one and see if the problem follows
Amazing video. I just got an 330e and was curious about how the battery was, thanks!
thanks, what year did you get it out of? as there are two generations a 7 kWh one and a newer 10 kWh one yet both look the same

hello, i unplug the high voltage disconnect in the trunk but i have no message of "high voltage battery disconnect" in the dashboard. What can it be?
sorry no idea

Is anyone rebuilding / providing aftermarket for the cells yet? Those cells are used on almost all BMW Hybrids and Genuine are ~$1700 USD each.
do you mean the modules (boxes the size of car batteries) or the actual cells?
@@Good-Enuff-Garage The aluminum and black plastic components that you have 5 of. Should be BMW part numbers: 61278658344 and 61278658345.

no idea but in July of 2019 BMW increased the battery capacity to 12 kWh, I'm about to make a video comparing the two, I think on is 16s the other 8s
is it liquid as you said or refrigerant for cooling?
Refrigerant R1234yf
