      LifewithAnnaBee they will cook the soup and freeze it in the cooler, once it's solid they cut it into smaller pieces and put it into the dumpling, when they steam the dumpling, the soup melt and become the soup. This is what I know, hope it helps :D

    I went to China 3 years ago I spent three weeks there and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The food is honestly the best! The last day there was the day I first tasted a soup dumpling and it was so delicious I keep searching for a restaurant here in France that makes them. I could probably eat Chinese food for the rest of my life and ditch pizza, that's how much I love it!

    I tried making Xiao Long Bao at home and I swear the skin is the trickiest to make. I almost gave up but I looked at how much it costed me to try and all the hard work I've put into assembling everything, I told myself I'd eat whatever will come out of the steamer regardless. Lol I appreciate soup dumplings from Din Tai Fung and other Chinese restaurants out there even more.

    I'm someone who doesn't like a lot of different foods. My palate is limited and most of it is really plain foods. So when I first tried xiao long bao from Din Tai Fung, it was amazing. I actually found a food that was delicious and different from my usuals. Now I order them whenever I can. I also get the chicken fried noodles. It's literally just those two things. Over and over again.

    Wut I usually do with soup dumplings is that I would bite a small hole and pour the soup into my spoon. If drink the soup then dip the dumpling in the sauce then eat it, sometimes with ginger sometimes not. I know some ppl so a small variation but this seems like how ppl generally do it, at least how my fam does it

      Eh, that’s how it often goes. I love getting dumplings in small restaurants in China, but I’ll eat them frozen too.
      There’s something more personal about small shops, obviously. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t quality in what Din Tai Fung’s soup dumplings.

    • @katrinalaw262
      @katrinalaw262 6 років тому

      Andrew Lee believe what you want but the best food will be where the food originated from. Keep your prejudice against China though I don’t care, that means for 小笼包 for me

  • @osnowfisho
    @osnowfisho 6 років тому +22

    OMG YES 鼎泰豐!!!
    But I'm a bit disappointed you wrote 小籠包 in simplified Chinese since in Taiwan we write in traditional Chinese

    • @katrinalaw262
      @katrinalaw262 6 років тому +32

      Sherry 小笼包 originates from 上海 which is in china so of course they’d use simplified Chinese as that’s the writing form used in china

      Their English sounds native US, so it could be they don't know Chinese. That's not unusual in later generations.

      Rachel Ding they could be pronouncing in a different dialect. As far as I'm concerned, they're only pronouncing "xiao" incorrectly (and even then, the pronounciation can be debated. Also, the americanization of the word usually sounds more like "shao" rather than "see-yow").

    • @rachelding5682
      @rachelding5682 6 років тому +8

      Salty Pyro Tato mmm i dont think so ot just sounds like a really strong american accent, no dialect sounds like that plus majority of asians in america learn normal dialect

      I’m chinese and speak it fluently but when I’m speaking to English speakers i pronounce it that way too. It’s just weird to switch from chinese to English dialect in the same sentence.

    I ate Xiao Long Bao for the first time today from a din tai fung restaurant. They were soooo good. And especially since I was seriously hungover (Never drinking three bottles of soju on an empty stomach again...) they were... indescribable... I am not addicted to them and can’t wait to go eat more 💜
