I have just picked up NMS again for the first time since 2018/19. Started this expedition yesterday and its super fun. I actually feel like im learning a lot of new things in a short amount of time from the milestones and rewards. Your channel is pure gold for a returning player like me! Keep up the amazing vids :)
As someone who JUST started playing just over a month ago - I appreciate that Hello Games is revisiting old expeditions so that we new players can enjoy the content, too.
This is quite a nice expedition for freighters, if you use a new save and continue to play you get a lot of freighter blueprints you won't need to buy later. If you use an existing save, you can send the salvaged frigate module rewards (one of those things that can be a pain to collect) back to your normal save at the anomaly.
The anomaly terminal was the best addition ever. Also don't forget to grab and copy another Iron Vulture thru your primary to break down for parts. Oh and store and move it's engine trail if you don't have that 1 unlocked yet same with it's bobble head...
One big tip I learned from the cursed expedition is to select the mission you are doing at that time. This might fix some of the issues people have with them not completing.

go to the station in every system at the start of an expedition.. once you dock with the station you can teleport back later from other stations, the anomoly, your freighter (once you build the teleporter) or ANY base, yours or others, that has a teleporter will let you port back even from other galaxies. plus while you are there i would check the quest giver, look for any easy missions, especially the "cull creatures" (kill ANY creatures, anywhere) you can just shoot them as you explore, and sometimes you need to anyways, some will attack you, not often, but it can happen (Unless you turn off the option)... the "scan minerals" one can be annoying tho, it makes you go to a specific planet and might not even be in the system you are in.
They need to add dungeon mechanics or something and add unique drops, armor, weapons, maybe even ships, or mechs to the game to really push towards amazing. I think those are the types of things it is missing. They listened to me last time about space whales/creatures... maybe they'll listen again? Planets could have different themed dungeons that generate randomly with treasures and boss fights.
The Icy Veins milestone has been kicking my tail. I don't know what I've been doing wrong. But then again, sometimes HG's requirements for completing milestones can be both vague and frustratingly specific. I found an icy world while trying to discover eight systems for the Uncharted milestone, the game told me that there was a suitable world nearby to fish in, and sure enough it was the ONLY icy world in the system I was in. So I landed, went fishing, and caught four uncommon fish. During a blizzard....but NONE of them registered. The only thing I can think of is that the planet in question I was directed to was identified as "hiemal". So even though it was covered in snow, full of blizzards, and the computer told me to go there, maybe the identifier itself still has to have the word "ice" in the descriptor. Or maybe the fish has to be both uncommon and an ice-fish? I don't know.
I had the same.. loads of uncommon fish that didn’t register.. but I realised later that they have to be uncommon fish that can ONLY be found on an icy planet… really frustrating.
@@SpaCe_NvaDercorrect, it doesn't take too long if you keep at it though. I didn't use bait or a lure or anything and it only took about 20 minutes. Even caught an s-class gold jellyfish in the process.
New player here. Are expeditions temporary game modes ? If i started a new save would it be just a temporary adventure i can go on until the event is over ?
Welcome to nms fellow traveler. Expeditions are limited time adventures. As soon as you complete the expedition it will convert into a regular playthrough. Bonus is you get to keep everything from the expedition. I did this with the omega expedition earlier this year. It has now become my main save with over 300 hours and counting. Hope you enjoy the game as much as I have. There's a lot to see and do. Jason has been a huge help. In my humble opinion, this is the best channel for nms. He covers everything and explains everything for new players. And last but not least the community in this game is awesome! Everyone is always helping each other.
I'm on PlayStation, and it does not dash X. It is using the Screenshot button. In any case, I can't complete the Grand Tour, which became it won't register my photos.

I'm wondering if this is the first in line of quick series of redux and they are starting here because a) its far back so many missed, b) yesterday was N7 day.
For PS4 players the photo 1 sometimes doesnt work that way either... For me the sure fire way is to hold my Share button down to bring up the side menu and then manually go down and select save screenshot. Also i have my Share settings set to easy screenshot. Thats why its "hold" for me. For you it might just be a tap. And no these settings are not why these type of milestones dont pop sometimes...
I just recently found out I can use my main save go to an expedition terminal to do expeditions. I used to play on several different profiles so I'm missing a lot of the Expidition rewards on my main profile so I'm hoping to earn all the rewards I missed out on.
Just wait till you figure out that you can claim all of your expedition rewards on your main save at the space anomaly from the quicksilver exchange guy. You're going to be so happy
@triplez7313 no I can't. I didn't say main save I said main profile. But since I lead with "main save", then said "main profile" I understand the confusion. I literally have 5 different xbox profiles. I knew about the save. I didn't originally but after expedition 5 I think it was is when I understood what they meant by being able to claim your rewards on any save. I thought it was any save on my console regardless of profile. No idea why I thought that. In hind sight I was stupid. But regardless I still played on all different profiles without thinking about it much. It wasn't until, I think expedition 16 that wasn't long ago, I decided I really wish I could get all my rewards on 1 profile. That's why I'm trying to do as much af the expeditions I've missed. Not just the ones I got on other profiles but a few I missed entirely.
I have a question so I enabled cross play I beat the expedition on PC do I have to beat it on PS5 Xbox One and my Nintendo switch or will I get the rewards across all my platforms because it would be awesome if I did not have to beat it on every platform like usual
I’m having an issue with the fishing mission. I’m on a frozen planet and I have caught uncommon fish. Yet the catch counter is not increasing. I’ve tried bait and no bait but none of the uncommon fish I catch count toward the mission. 😢
I’m about half way through this expedition using my main save but now the game is crashing every time I enter a planet’s atmosphere. Just stuck in the loop and can’t do anything. 😩
That depends on if you have an s-class multitool on your main save yet or not. If not then do it. I suggest scrapping a starship. You can get a chart at the space station to find one pretty quick. However, if you have a good multitool on your main save I would suggest finding a base with curious deposits aka a mold farm. There are a few already if you scroll through the list. Travel back and forth between two of them until you have about a full stack. Don't worry it doesn't take that long. Refine the mold into nanites in your backpack refiner. Then jump to a new system which will give you access to the anomaly. Go to the expedition terminal and make a copy of your multitool and your ship if you want.
@@marcussmith6507 my rule of thumb is life support gel, launch thruster fuel, warp hypercores, a good weapon mod with 2 upgrades I use the pulse splitter, and a trade item i can sell to immediately make money to buy supplies. All I've seen for this one in particular tho is bring runaways mold and tainted metal or anything else that can be refined into nanites as someone here mentioned, and elsewhere I've seen wiring looms and repair kits So if you just bring everything mentioned you'll be fine. I'm about to start it myself rn. Best of luck man.
I can't take a picture on xbox, it says to use the "xbox" button to take picture and that just takes you to xbox home screen. I have tried many ways around it but I can't complete expedition because it won't take a picture, its so frustrating.😂😅😢😢
Is there any reason to not start an expedition on a preexisting save file? I’ve played this game a decent bit but I’ve never done an expedition, however I’ve wanted the Normandy SR-2 since the day I saw it was available in game
From what I gather there are people scared that their main save might get messed up or something. How rare that is I do not know. I have not had any issues with my expedition runs. Been playing since summer.
these videos always pain me... i make a LOT of money just from scanning, and it also makes mining better as well.. and you can do it while walking around!! yet he doesn't even scan anything. i mean scanning a single creature with a good scanner setup (once you get 3 upgrades, which is fairly easy) gives hundreds of thousands of credits, i have one setup that gets about 500,000 credit per new creature scanned, around 100,000 for minerals, etc.... so scanning like 3 creatures is more then finding an ancient bone, dig up ancient bone, carry it all the way back to station and sell it, and you can scan all the time.. and also get nanites! scanning all fauna on a planet can give 2000+ nanites.
One tip I got is that the galaxy map is 3D. But most people view it 2D. So theyre less likely to travel up or down and prefer going sideways. So you'll have better odds of finding uncharted systems by going up or down.
The milestone grand tour, I’m trying it on the PS five but the symbol for taking the screenshot doesn’t match anything on the controller and I’ve tried everything I can think of anyone else having this issue?
I can clearly see on yours. It says to hit the A button which is an Xbox controller im guessing. But mine should be X, but on the photo menu it has this little square with three dashes on it.
Meh.. Instead of telling us about yellow boxes around an upgrade, and which button to press, you better complete at least one challenge if you have time for all these redundant explanations which make me boring =)
As someone who has played but is back to playing heavy I think it’s possible to get done I’ve gotten the last two ones done in about 3 days with putting in maybe 3 hours of play
I couldve done it in one evening if the 3 fleet expeditions werent a timesink. Though the fishing and finding uncharted systems milestones are up to chance so it can take longer if you're unlucky.

I did not know that's what Repair Kits are used for! Awesome!

Use the repair kit on the other device, the one that takes 5 to repair, you can use 1 repair kit and use it on all 5 wiring looms.
I found an S-Class multi-tool at the space station (something like 2.8 million). I found and scrapped a starship (4+ million) to purchase it.
Yep. 1st station. And if you load your game from the windswept planet it'll be a blue/orange alien pistol MT.

13:07 actually it's not X. You need to (depending on your settings) hold/double click the share button so the menu pops up then it counts.

The only painful part was finding undiscovered systems.
Its a good idea to build a fleet command room and send the frigate out early on

Might be good to use a black hole, get far away from the expedition neighborhood.

@@mozr5053 my best guess is you need to warp once before you can summon the anomaly, at least, I have seen that be the case in other expeditions.
