i've also been feeling kind of down about the "meaning" of my art lately. trying to make it signify something deep really burns a person out when you draw as much as i and many others probably do. taking a break from the pressure of creating something to the highest standard every time is really good. it doesn't have have your life story in every piece and it will still be just as good.

honestly when i first saw your art style i fell in love with it, immediately subscribed then proceeded to watch a lot of the speed paints and tutorials.

When I was younger I used to draw really emotional pieces to cope with stress and trauma, so I often fall into that feeling that every piece of work needs to have some deeper meaning. Thank you for reminding us to have fun with our art and giving us a chill place to relax for a few minutes. Love your work and hope you continue to have happier and more stress-free days 💖

Putting meaning into art can be hard. When I first started writing, I always wrote with the intention of trying to convey some kind of deeper message, but I think a lot of times the meaning comes from the process rather than the initial outset. Just doing stuff for fun or because you think it will be cool is the perfect way to go about creating art. It's great to just do art for yourself, too! The cool thing about art is that the meaning isn't even necessarily through words. It can just as easily be a feeling, which you certainly conveyed in Starboy. Sometimes, the meaning is profound or complex. Sometimes, it's simple, but simple isn't bad. Simple is often the thing we (as both artists and observers) need. Either way, something good and meaningful and beautiful comes from every piece you do, even if (and especially if) you were just having fun :)

I feel your pain Blue. I've been struggling with depression for a year and a half, and it got so much worse this year. I had a mental breakdown and now I'm on antipsychotics too, and the counter effects are making every little task so tiring and stressful, even drawing. I hope you get over this and have a lot of inspiration and have fun drawing!!! Your videos and your art inspire me a lot and help me get out of my artblock.

Pretty piece! Love the colors! And hey, Keep doing things that make you happy, blue. Honestly I forgot art usually has meaning behind it. Honestly most of the things I draw are for fun or for the sake of getting better. What I mean is I don't think art needs a meaning, honestly just feeling the feels while drawing it is enough, or even if it's just a mindless emotionless doodle, those are nice too. This was all probably obvious but idk, felt like rambling I guess.

I don't know why but I usually forget that from time to time. Art can be just feelings, feelings have names because of how we give it a name. At the end of the day, feelings don't have a shape, size, anything. Sadness can be named Katherine for all I know.
We forget maybe because of our busy life, I'm glad you take breaks!
Give yourself time and you will see things at lower pace, clearer and better.

What helps me is making meme\joke art. So like, following the position format of memes, but with my characters, and\or characters from media. Nothing quite as liberating as having drawing my character doing the "ya got me there" meme. No standard, no expectations, it's just for silliness sake.
