    About 2 Meter Sessions
    ====================
    Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
    Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
    The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

    For those asking about Lisa's recent history, I only know a little. She is living in a small town in the Midwest and taking care of her Mother who is in her 90's. She posts some music on Facebook occasionally. I went to high school with her and I knew her as she played in a few bands at IU and then, of course, Mellencamp's band. I always thought her albums in the 90's were amazing and I never understood why she didn't become part of the female artist's revolution that happened back then.

      I was just wondering what she was doing now… Thanks for the update.
      And yes, she is clearly underrated, her melodies are simple yet powerful, her songs are so moving, her way to sing as it's a question of life & death. I miss her art & her voice in this world.

    The beauty and creative force of this woman lives right here on our screens. We can stumble upon it 27 years down the road and be as stunned by her as if she'd just performed it today. Lots to say about her but I'll go with "WOW."

    This is the song takes me back to the night my father passed away in 95. I have never seen Lisa do this live - or anything for that matter - so what a gift this video is. She is a tremendous talent and I'll never understand how she was so overlooked. Gorgeous music that has lasted decades for me and will for my lifetime. Come back Lisa and grace us with more of your poetry and sonic beauty.

    Dark difficult days back in 1979 spotted her playing violin with Simple Minds. Another great song "Belfast Child" both stand the test of time. Lisa has had her difficulties too i guess. So convey my thanks for her music

    It's too bad she never got the recognition she deserved back in the day. Lullaby for Liquid Pig is a gorgeous album, IMO. I remember the first time I saw her, Mellencamp was in a documentary about Woody Guthrie and Ledbelly, along with a bunch of other artists. She was his fiddler back then, and they did a couple pieces for the documentary. She looked to be quite seriously baked.
    Later I randomly ran across Liquid Pig, which I still have in my collection and just turned someone on to it earlier in the work, and he loved it.

    Some people consider Ivo Watts-Russel, the original owner of the UK independent label 4AD records as a semi God or a living legend. The man that gave the world Pixies, Cocteau Twins, Bauhaus, Nick Cave, Dead Can Dance, Breeders etc. In certain cases, he was. But a lot of folks think he has the main responsibility to have destroyed Lisa Germano and Heidi Berry careers, through extremely wrong and bad commercial and artistic decisions about the conducting of these two amazing women when they were signed to his label.

      Such a shame, maybe industry destroys music, even indie-ustry.
      It's intersting to consdier how much you do or don't "need" ,"want" or "depend" upon intermediaries in any market - and a little harder to consdier what might happen without them.
      For example, estate agents are generally bad for housing a whole population, but a lot of specific people (usually those with money) like having someone get them a house, and generally corral land-use so as to situate them with similarly wealthy people or at least people they arent scared of.
      All i can say from some basic economics is that if the intermediaries get market power - for whatever reason in whatever niche - it's likely to reduce the number of good transactions overall - for both disempowered consumers and disempowered producers. But that wont mean that a lot of people dont have a moderate number of good experiences - in fact it guarantees it; and increases the amount people will pay for it.
      I had to travel to Berlin from UK to see Lisa Germano in a small room upstairs of a theatre, 'cos she tours so rarely - but she played well and it was awesome - overall I'm not sure it'd be the same if she'd played at royal albert hall or somewhere wanky like that. But yeah i had to pay more, but at least not to 4AD.
