    that's weird I was just thinking about how pharrell use to be a punk street kid making beats and being rebellious and now he's like one of the most listened to people on tv for advice on music. yet to be fair he started making beats just like anyone else would to make music he liked and not to appeal to the mass of people on the show he works for now.

    What they're saying is so true. I developed my style believe it or not on Playstation's MTV Music Generator. And those are some of the tightest beats I've ever heard local or industry level. When you don't have all the super equipment it demands that you be more creative and you start layering sounds to make a sound that you try to emulate but it ends up being unique.

  • @saturnvandel
    @saturnvandel 17 років тому +1

    the art of music has evolutionized to many levels. The base of which is the instrument but that dosn't take away from the newer applications like DJing. The end product would still be a new original sound.

    Can somebody pleeease tell me were to find that version of the song "Beautiful" that runs in the background thruought the video? It has like this acoustic vibe with the brass and live instrumentation..also the singer used a different cadence when he's on the last part of the hook..It's so fresh it's crazy. I know One day I'll meet pharell himself and ask him personally about this. It sounds like the jam session they did to come up with the actual track. I don't know if I'm wrong, I just want the mp3 lol!!

    @mjdorian7312 9 років тому +6

    Wise words. With the immediacy of all of today's music programs (Fruity Loops, Maschine, etc), someone with minimum music knowledge can create pretty dope sounding music. But in the end, because everyone is using those programs, you aren't going to develop a distinctive sound, just more of the same. I think what they are saying is that working from the ground up allows you to create a distinctive sound and style while you are also developing music skills.

    • @mjdorian7312
      @mjdorian7312 9 років тому +2

      Hah, right. There is a lot that can be achieved without formal music training though! I spent years studying music theory, but at the end of the day, if your beat is bangin' then it doesn't matter if you know what a deceptive cadence is, after exploring your craft enough you just do things because they sound good. :)

    I hate these arguments about what people use... I feel like you can create with whatever you want, DAWs or real instruments.... As long as what you do makes you happy.... Not everybody has easy access to a lot of these things....
    But it's the matter of creating... But everybody has their own view and opinions on what's what... Even these guys here,. I respect them but the come from a different era. What they done would be a challenge to try to do because the industry is evolved now..

    Honestly, the whole point is to make music. Don't get caught up in brands I don't care what you get your sh*t ain't gon' sound professional and you really shouldn't care b/c you should be targeting underground right now. And all that underground sounds like garbage but you love it b/c it feels so authentic. See Wu-Tang, See Lil Wayne. Sequencer, Midi controller, studio projects mic (c1), cheap monitors (although I use dynaudio, reason, ableton if you want to sample, sound card.
