How to fight at close range in the forest: Step one; choice the flamethrower. step two: burn the F forest. How to fight in the forest with rifle squads. step one; put a recon vehicle with a machinegun in your squad unit. step two; proceed to make swiss cheese.
i have noticed how different ranged weapons in a squad can hinder it engage enemies effectively. A begleit grenadier will auto engage an enemy at 500 meters, but most of its firepower comes to play at 300 meters. It gets crushed in any 500 meter matchup vs a good rifle squad. Leader units with a sniper tend to engage random units only to get spotted and bombed. You could put the unit on return fire, but i find it easier to just disable the lmg or sniper until theyre in range of the rest of the squad. The sthurmoviki for example mixes a lmg with 7 submachine guns and a tnt.
For certain hybrid units, you are absolutely correct. They can vary significantly in effectiveness based on the ranges they find themselves engaging. Very important for maximizing your troops
New sub here! Just wanted to express my thanks for all your time and effort with respect to the many tutorials for SD 2. Returning back to SD 2 after some time away, as got distracted by PVP only games like World of Tanks, which I currently suck at btw due current matchmaking issues, OP tanks played by unicums, etc.; so back to a military game I have some control over and has a great support network of tutorials made by people like you and Vulcan to help beginners get better at the game. Keep up the great work, sir! :)
Duuude how am I just NOW seeing your videos? I’ve been playing Eugen games for years! Anyway, I just wanna say that you’re a natural and I can easily see you among the greats e.g. Razzman/Stealth17/BoltSauce etc. etc.
It's very useful knowing that assault types of 500m+ shouldn't fight in dense forests and the stuff on flamers but after that I'm not sure if you were specific enough, you mentioned other e¡weapons and units with "they can kill things", "they are powerful", etc nebulous terms that to a noob like me isn't very instructive :(
@@atkpwrgaming Thank you for teaching! Can I ask, how on earth are players supposed to learn these intricacies? Do game developers think "some youtuber will show them how our games work"? How did you learn these small but important details? I feel I'm left with no tools to learn for myself, there are no useful reports, stats, training scenarios, etc that would allow me to figure out "these units vs those units suck". Do I make sense and if yes how should I go about this?
I feel like I will still suck after watching any and all tutorials of this game that I both love when playing medium to hard AI, but hate so much when I can't do anything else than lose every single PVP, ever.
Hey , just starting out sd2 got it on sale i have absolutely no idea where to start , i have Played rts like eu4 but wanted to jump in sd2 , any idea where should i start with 0 knowledge.
I have a video for your first day in sd2 😁 I would check out my tutorials for controls and stuff. Watch some of my games both live and casted. And then hop into a skirmish with the AI and go from there!
7:23 That doesn't make sense, the damage meter of the straight pull is 1.1 where as for the semi auto it's 0.3, everything else is the same with rpm on the straight pull being significantly higher. How is the semi auto better?
That’s based on the number of rifles in the squad. The damage scales up based on the number of rifles. All things being equal the semi auto is the strongest
Commandos are actually buggin tho, i had a Rm Commando rifle squad 3 vet, Rm commando assault squad 3 vet, and commando piat 3 vet, with a supply truck moving with them, they were worth my whole fighting force, i later added a commando leader, vickers, and RM abbot of chantry (or some other tank) and this was an unstoppable force, its only weakness was long range AT guns and arty
It would be worth to menton that German Disheartended troops loose their "debuff" when there is a Feldgendarmerie unit within range (Military Police unit with trait Discipline). Personally when I have to use Disheartended troops to cover front line I always try to put Leader + Feldgendarmerie behind them.
Absolutely true. On a side note though the value of disheartened troops is actually the fact they automatically retreat. The majority of the time you want your troops to fallback immediately anyways
Well it has a good combination of solid troops. It struggles with 2k range units though and it is very possible to bully their infantry with longer range infantry and light armor
@@atkpwrgaming Thanks! I tried out my 3rd Fallshirmjager against them and get annihilated every time. They spam their rangers ande demo squads and that nukes my infantry. The M10 and M18 have the same range as my Stugs and even though I can enjoy air superiority, the Ju88s are usually too weak to kill their infantry.
The problem I find with this kind of rts games that root back from classic game like coh, is that against Ai, the Ai will cheat with more numbers, against player, most will spam with cheap units in the opening or stick with it till the end.. Kinda same boring programming.
Useful indeed, although seeing it implemented in an actual game would have been even better.
Check out the how to get good infantry micro tutorial. It has video and in game explanations
@@atkpwrgaming Thanks!

Haha there you go you mastered steel division 2 infantry
This game has a huge learning curve.
It really does, that why I tried to make it smaller :)

Absolutely, so glad it helped! Feel free to check out the others!

Yeah commando is very strong, do not underestimate it
1:18 i think that would be a knife
That would be a cool feature in the game haha
How do you know the min. firing range?
Nothing in game tells you. I know from playing the game at a high level for years and discord. All LMG and HMG have a 100m min firing range
Solid video :)
Thanks a bunch!!
1:20 it's 150 meter(s), a milimeter is 1000 times smaller than a meter, great video btw
Thanks a bunch!
I was thinking that 150mm is more in the knife-range area.
nice video mate
Thanks so much! Hope it helped!

Would sapari beat an assault class infantry squad?
Usually it would win because of the satchel

@@paintingwithmartin well 3rd fsj is a pretty weak division these days, at least comparably to 2nd ID
@@atkpwrgaming What do you think of 12th S-S? or a good German division to counter 2 ID?
That's quite close range if it's 150mm range. Better use a sword or a kitchen knife instead.😅
Yeah sorry about that haha

That’s why you play multiplayer. It’s awesome that way
