    what's stopping your opponent from grabbing the collar again once you break the first grip? i doubt an opponent won't do anything with that arm once the grip is broken.

      Watch carefully in the video at @2:50. To prevent him from re-gripping, you have to break his fingers as you break the grip.

      you need to break that grip if you don't have a grip on the dude's pant while tucking in the elbow to make sure he doesn't re-guard; if the dude re-grips your collar when you already made a grip on the pants and he pulled on that, he can only help you put your forehead on his shoulder and hug the lat.... understand?

      I was thinking the same thing... absolutely nothing is stopping the re-grip.

      i think nothing stops him from re-gripping. Maybe the grip wont prevent the longstep pass?

    no need to brake this grip......you can move to all thee rest without braking it...!....by moving your body....ασε το γκριπ και κανε την μανουβρα φίλε........:)....

    No reasom to break collar grip because he just regrips. Wastes energy and time.

      Breaks the shoulder post so you can actually get to the inside of the knee.

    I really like this pass, I was shown a variation with left hand lapel grip and bring elbow and knee to the mat at the time, I will try this version out
