- The mid-size Chevelle dynasty got its start with cars like this 1964 Chevelle 300 series wagon. The car was so right it immediately outsold Chevy’s compact Chevy II Nova almost 2-to-1. Learn all about it in this video tour.
Love the wagons, hope your doing better Steve. 🤜🤛
Interesting to think of all the people trading in 55-57 Chevies in 1964. The midsized Chevelle was essentially the same size as their full sized trade in.
Thank you Mr Magnante, keep healing ~ Chuck
Black Chevelle wagon with red interior? Yes, please! Even better with a 327. Thanks, Steve! Hope you’re feeling better.
We're all pulling for you Steve. Hope to see you back in the Junkyard soon
It's great you're recovering, hope to see you back soon!!!
How ironic... About an hour ago, I seen a '64 Chevelle 4-door driving down the street (that had been fixed up and "hot rodded").
Then I get on here and see this video about a '64 Chevelle station wagon.😎
Tuxedo black Chevelle wagon with red interior would have been a beautiful package today.
Hi Mags, hope rehab is going smoothly. 🙏
Considering he was in a medically induced coma. I hope the worst is far behind him.
Waiting patiently for his return no rush
Classic. Design. Wagons. Are rare. These. Days. Thanks.
Steve cutting down them weeds is so funny. Digging the wagon weeks! Get well soon.
Back in the day Chevy used TV sponsorship to advertise their cars. I remember Bonanza with chevy commercials showing off the cars with all the cast . Also Bewitched was sponsored in part by Chevy with Darren driving a new 1965 Chevelle SS convertible.
See the USA in a Chevrolet! How well I remember those commercials. 😊
Another cool wagon! Great wagon week episode Steve!👍
I’m 70 yrs old this would a lifetime project
I’ll be there with you in 5 months! If I’d known I was going to live this long, I’d of taken better care of myself! 😂
Great job Steve. Love wagons. ❤️
Grew up riding in the back of one of these
Dark Blue Malibu with a 283 and a power glide
Wish I had it
The best part of UA-cam!
Dad bought a 65 Malibu new with 327 4bbl, auto, PS, PB and it was a beauty! Deep forest green metallic with seafoam green interior . We took it on a 1000 mile vacation that summer. It had no trouble screaming to 90 with 4 passengers and it sounded wonderful when he put his foot into it. 2 wheel strips from a standing start, just stab the gas, no brake torqueing
Neighbor across the street bought the same color/year SS with same options. Had a rear swept radio antenna and back seat speaker between the headrests and buckets. Sweet looking car., great to see this one, brought back a tom of memories..
This is why I finally bought a 1991 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser!
Love Wagons Steve this brings us back definitely as kids growing up in the 70,s and early 80,s . When all families seemed like they had 3 or more kids. I grew up up with a family of 5. Greetings Steve from San Diego CA. Grew up in Imperial Beach same county. Get Better my friend. 👍
Greetings from North county (Vista)👋🏼 😂
@sam right off the 78👍

Had a 65 chevelle 6cyl, auto, 4dr party ride. Red interior . Cheers 🇨🇦
In the original Karate Kid movie, his mom drove a 2 door Chevelle wagon with a manual transmission
Awesome content Steve!! Get back to 100% health my brother!!!!!!
Glad to see you are feeling better!!!
FYI....this is a video Steve did before we went ill.....he is replaying his previous videos until he recovers enough to do new ones.
I bet that car was beautiful when it was new! Black with red interior? My parents purchased a 1964 Malibu 327 4bbl 4spd car! Dark blue with light blue interior!
I remember thinking how square it looked
Compared to The ember red 1963 SS 409 4 spd Impala they had before the Malibu! Wish I had both those cars today!
Thanks for the video Steve hope you are doing well!
Love some wagon! Love the 2 door of the 1st Gen body style
Hey Steve,.... take care bro!!!!
I had one just like this. It was white. I bought it from my friend's parents for $100. It had a bad exhaust valve, which I easily fixed. It had the 283 with PowerGlide. It also had power steering and electric rear window. There was also a Malibu trim level. I don't think that the 327 was available in Chevelles until 1965.
It was assembled at the Van Nuys, CA plant where my friend's dad worked. Great car. I wish that I had kept it for a few more years.
My dad bought a ‘64 Malibu wagon of the lot new. It was my first car. Sold it in ‘91. Wish I had it back.
I had a 66 283 auto 4 dr. Very dependable work car. Drove it 3-4 yrs in early 70’s.
Thank you Steve
Still working the algorithm Steve 👍
1976 Chevy K5 Blazer/ GMC Jimmy still had the same rear window exterior crank handle.
Wagons Ho ❤🤓🇺🇲
Just missed out on a 63 chevy nova 2 wagon. I didn't need it. I just wanted it.
I'd love to have one 283 4 soeed.
Great episode, Steve ! 🎉
Watching this again, and just noticed the 4n1 SS fuel, oil, volts, and temp gauge. For being a 300 deluxe looks like this was nicely optioned in its day.
now thats a real lowrider ... #scraping
I know where one of these is with a 50 year owner. Zero rust.
Thanks Steve. Be well.😎❤️
Don’t know if it was a regional thing, but there were a lot of 2 door Chevelle wagons in California.
I had a chance to get a 64 2 door wagon with original 283, 4 speed, and bucket seats. It was medium to dark blue. Thought I'd find another one along the way and it never happened.
Thanks for sharing this video with us
Hope you’re doing well sir!
Wagons are the best!!
Thanks for the build plant imfo
Still Beautiful 👌🏼⛽️( the car )
Powerglide was among the many reasons for me to look down on Chevrolets. Pity the consumer who didn't know better.
I like chevelle wagon.
That’s right Steve she aren’t no 300 Chrysler 😀.
Good to hear you're doing better . Hopefully you can get back to work on the Max Wedge soon .
Rock n roll
DanE!! Where are you??
Present!
I’d love to have one. Hope you’re holding your own, anf wishing you the best
Wow! I can imagine that color combination when new! Too bad that thing is far gone for any restoration. My brother in law had the coupe version of that car! SS 396 with the munsie 4 speed manual!
No 1964 front sheet metal is remanufactured for Chevelle. So that hood and front fenders are worth something
Thx and algo
hey steve new sub here , have you made a video on Hall/scott engines “large gas “ 6cly.1051” cid ?
I wonder if it was a custom order. Someone wanted the six for commuting but wanted the black and red for style.
👍👍👍
I have a 65 2 door Chevelle wagon that somebody turned into a sedan delivery before I got it
🖖
i like it :)
Must be an old video theres leaves on the trees
Hello.
~
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍 Good afternoon Mags ! Professor Steve class on proper weed whacking the classroom 🍎✏️📓🎓🍎✏️📓🎓 very good old video ! 👍🛞👍🛞
One thing that I have noticed about the cars you review . They are almost completely destroyed and rotted out. No engines , trans ,front clips - Hell, this one doesn't even have a frame. Are you seriously telling me that anything vintage in this yard is this far gone ? Enjoy your info , but try to show case cars with more of them left to show.
Hope you’re back to 100% soon Steve.
Had a 66 deluxe 300 chevelle 4 door when I was a youngster. Straight 6 with a manual on the column. Reliable and simple to fix with no frills.
Another day closer to you returning to the yard. As stated last time:
Let's take it all the way with the trim tag, and construct the VIN for the win:
With the tag, we can brag: 11C for the third week of November 1963 production, 5435 for Chevelle two seat four door station wagon, BA for Baltimore, MD assembly, 778 for Red interior trim, 900 for Tuxedo Black exterior paint as noted. Interesting is that BA on the tag for a Chevelle in 1964 was Baltimore, MD assembly, but on a passenger car BA could be Atlanta, GA assembly (Lakewood Heights, which closed in 1990. The last car made there was a "box" Caprice which was raffled off to the employees on the last day the plant operated which was Monday, August 6, 1990. That video is on You Tube for those that wish to watch it).
With the VIN, we can win: 4 for 1964 model year, 53 for Chevelle six cylinder, 35 for four door six passenger station wagon, B for Baltimore, MD assembly, and the rest is the production sequence. The Baltimore, MD plant operated from 1935 until Friday May 13, 2005. That plant assembled a variety of vehicles and product lines over the years and also assembled the Astro and Safari vans which was the main focus through the end of the operation of the plant.
Thank you Steve!👍
Love the weed whacking opening
Hope your recovery is going well, Mags!
Looking forward to seeing you back in action soon Steve....Keep swinging!
Our neighbor while I was growing up bought one of these wagons wrecked in 1966. He got it on a reconstructed title and fixed it all up for his wife to haul the kids around. Not a bad car - had the 283 V8, but no other options but an AM radio.
Tuxedo black, red interior.I agree, even for a wagon, it must've been beautiful.
I wonder how many were that color combo from the factory?
Reminds me of my parents’ 1965 black/red Valiant.
So, finally in '64, Chevy comes out with the Midsize that Chrysler thought was coming 3 years earlier.
Awesome color combo for that wagon... in a land long ago they were just cars... get well steve !!
Finish healing up Steve! Look forward to your return.
I'm Sharing every wagon video to my car club on Facebook 👍 Get Better Steve.
A friend of mine had a 69 300 deluxe 2dr. 350 2bbl. It was gold on gold had a lot of fun in that car.
Bring back wagons!
Hope you're doing well, Steve.
Keep getting well enough to do new stuff, but in the mean time, keep the wagons and other vault stuff coming!
Classic. Design. Wagons. Are rare. These. Days. Thanks.
I had a marina blue 67 300 deluxe 2 door. 230 powerglide and a 10 bolt posi. Radio delete car. Had 14” rallyes with the big derby caps.
Ahhh factory black with red interior! Was stunning when new....shame this was its fate.
I can't imagine a 230 6 banger in that thing. Zero to 60 in 5 miles ?? Maybe?? LOL
Love those Chevelle wagons! Get well soon , Steve!
I like the Chevelle wagons in these years. The most oddball wagon from the 1960s in the Mercury Meteor wagon, built in 1963 only. I didn’t even know they existed until I caught sight of one in the background in an episode of Andy Griffith. There was probably more Chevelle 2-door wagons built than Meteor wagons.
Cut that roof off and transplant onto a 4 door. Is the wheelbase the same?
👍
If it was just an SS 454 NOMAD….😜
you need to sharpen your yo-yo
my dad had a 64 2 door 300.
If GM's 3 Spd. manual trans. was anything like Ford's 3 speed non synchro in the Falcon/Mustang in 64-6. Best to go with the 2 Spd. power glide auto
