Forgot to mention the ele casting sequence that is the most OP. 3 spells can hit within 1 global. Cast lightning bolt (2 sec cast, has travel time to target), then chain lightning (1.5 sec cast, instant damage), then earthshock (instant cast, instant damage). Pair with elemental mastery (gaurenteed crit) on the heaviest hitting spell, chain lighting, and its gonna be a 3k+ burst while wearing greens and blues. With better gear, buffs (AV warcry, battle standard, etc), and/or some lucky crits it can get into the 4k-5k range. Lasty and somewhat situational, if the ally are in melee range then drop a fire nova totem for extra burst. Nothing lives.
its a new style now, instead of wasting the time on the lightning bolt cast, u can use elemental mastery with ur shock at the same time to have them both guarantee crit and cost no mana. same damage as the lightning bolt combo but faster, so Ele mastery and Chain+shock double crit insta one shots

Pretty much every alliance on a pvp server realized really fast how fucking insane an elemental shaman burst is. 3k damage within a global is pretty common. I have a feeling its the horde that dont know that, since the mentality of non-raidspec = trash is everywhere.

shaman main here, classic shaman is probably my favorite class i have ever rolled. i'm full resto yet i still perform really well in bgs as an aggressive support with purge and fs and totems. love how tanky you can get with mail and shields equipped. and then i can just swap gear and be a great healer in raids without respeccing. good shit

I'd like to offer my insight before all you eager beavers make a shaman alt and quit at level 31. My main is a shaman on Herod. I raid as both ele and resto. As resto, you will find a guild no problem. Healing is unique and enjoyable on a shaman. People will also praise you for healing in Wpvp / Bgs. As for Ele, the burst is there. This is less important for pve, but for pvp, you better burst down your enemy before they get you. Even with frost shock and earthbind, you won't be kiting. You well get snared immediately and sit there getting pounded. This is especially the case against MS warriors and rogues. Also, all the neckbeards saying I BeAt 99% oF pEoPle aLL tHe TiMe, chances are you're not beating anyone without your 3min ele mastery cooldown. Sure it's possible, but it makes a BIG difference. What this guy said is correct: for PVE you will be middle of the pack at BEST (in a good guild), and for PVP, you're a support class that can blast half an enemy's HP away and then heal your teammate, drop windfury, and get back on DPS pressure. It's about doing a little bit of everything to be good.
And as a hybrid class, it seems the bursty support class is the way that ele was meant to be played. If people want to go all out damage in PvP as a caster then play mage or lock. Shamans are there to be part of a team, to optimize other classes and push the limits of the team as a cohesive whole.
Shamans have a burst type of damage. In pve they can do a decent amount of damage in short fights, but in the long fight they run out of mana. However, the boss fights in classic today a very short which means shamans can last enough for the fight. Yes, they won't be top dps but still they can make a good amount of damage, and at the same time provide totems. I want to say something to all warriors. The reason why you are top dps on the horde side is shaman's WF, don't forget about that.
@@jordanschlansky4093 warriors scale way better with all the buffs available. My point is that WF makes a huge impact on overall damage, and very often warriors forget about this fact.
I wouldnt call it a resto shaman build tho like punkrat does, it's the normal ele build. Also tbh if I went that to raids my guild would be pissed off that I wasn't full resto.
Eh... elemental focus is what lets your chain lightning + shock both crit, its massive to their burst, more important than nature's swiftness. (You still get 11% crit with light spells)

The combo you listed is pretty bad, here's why: CL + Flameshock = Now you're on a 1.5 sec GCD where your opponent can do whatever they want. Now you start casting a 2nd lightning bolt (another 2 seconds) and then it has to travel through the air... Essentially your opponent has 3.5-4 seconds of complete free action before this "combo" finishes. Giving them plenty of time to heal / CC you / ETC.

Aswell as taking elemental mastery wont let you get another +5% crit for healing/lightning spells with tidal mastery since you simply wont have talents left. If you dont move in that time or use shocks/down ranked lightning bolt or trinkets/bombs that you have between your casts, its not the rotation thats bad.

Hunters are incredible in both pve and pvp! BM is a beast in pvp and MM is really good in PVE! I don't know how well BM performs in raid content though.
All I can say is that I leveled a shaman to 50, then a hunter to 60 and started raiding. It's underwhelming. I'm now 60 with my shaman and I have alot of fun. Personally, shaman is more fun and I love getting all the gear for all specs
As an Ele/resto that heals MC and LURVES "eledumping" main tanks on Drek pull... I approve of this message. (One clarification though, I've not seen a grounding totem deal with a hunter trap yet, but if it did, it would have to be the freeze trap one as it does not redirect AoE)
Look up parses with enhance shamans that are using storm strike and dont totem twist. Then you'll laugh at how you consider ret pally somewhat viable and think shamans can't dps.

I am not bashing on just this youtube channel, but am I the only one that watches the majority of classic videos in 1.75 speed because we do want to listen to this info but it feels like the info could be said in half the time. I am nobody to say this, i bet that all youtube creators do this because of youtubes algorithm but come on, all these wow classic videos that are above 10 minutes long could be 5 minutes long or less with the same amount of information. BTW in pvp enchanced shamen are disgustingly OP. I used to beat T3 Windfury warriors with blue gear back in vanilla. Earthshock + windfury combos are devastating.

Shaman fanatic here. I main enhancement shaman, i'm leveling a second shaman to 60 and i'm twinking a lv 19 shaman. I played shaman for 2+ years on private servers and i played shaman for multiple years on retail. Regarding the video, you need to differentiate between viable and optimal a lot better, enhancment is definetly viable. No question about it. They don't go OOM as fast as u claim, that's just a common misconception. If u do things right u're actually doing rather good DPS even compared to the other classes, however, u do need to put more effort into it like u did mention. I myself have chosen the support route and is because of that dealing much less damage than what i could if i had gone optimal dmg route, but its the way i enjoy to play the game with my guild. Working on my Sulfuras now for PvP. Elemental is actually doing very well atm, much better than people expect, and that's thanks to the bossfights being much shorter because better gear is available and people are a lot better at the game. Resto PvP is basically elemental PvP but with healing gear. U did a good explanation of it. What u did fail to mention which would be a great sellingpoint in this progaganda video, Elemental Mastery works with spellbatching, allowing u to get a Chain Lightning + Earth Shock off with 100% crit on both spells consistently. There are videos of people doing 8k burst in this manner in classic.

Oh my gosh, please no. Guys, shamans are difficult to play. Gear is not optimized that well, and its difficult to get over other caster classes. Melee too! Some of the gear shown in the clips are not in game right now. Just, don't expect to level up and start 1 shotting people. It's not like a Rogue who can 100 to 0 you, completely naked. Gear is important and it's not easy to get. You'll lose most duels, and you get focused in bg's. It's important to note that shamans have no survivability (bubble, feign death, blink, vanish). Shamans excell in PvP, but, in order to do so; your teammates must also perform and react well. Because shamans have no survivability, your teammates performance is just as important as your own. It's a support class with burst to finish off priority targets. And for the love of god; pass shamans raid assistance in bg's! It's important that shamans can change group comps on the fly during a bg so that whoever is nearby can benefit from totems. No, shamans are not busted. They are difficult to play, don't have access to optimized gear, are not the best in 1v1, are reliant on teammates around them to perform well in bgs, and have no escape. In a world of one shots, a 10 second silence is busted, end of story.

I did enh this time around and ended up getting hand of rag. Ele is, without a doubt, better and easier to play, though. I just like not playing the meta. Plus a windfury one shot is the best feeling ever
elemental shaman pairs effectively with hunters. Long range high burst artillery that can decimate waves of incoming alliance at any of the spicy chokepoints in AV
I love having shamans on my team. I'd say if your primary focus is PvP, there is no reason to go resto though. Go elemental and heal when needed. Or if you really insist on being a Resto Shaman, use +spell damage/healing gear, mixed with +nature damage, not raw +healing. And for the love of god, I don't care how good of a staff you pickup... use your shield in battlegrounds!
First, cdew was enh not elem in cdl. Another shaman Fyz was elem. Shamans on the most parts bit hunters and warriors. In the later stages of the game when there are pvp trinket,more mail gear with crit and nature spell power the situation will be different.
I decided to main an elemental shaman. turns out, if you go the extra mile you're OP AF. I was told i would be the bottom of the barrel, instead topping dps meters in pve and dominating in pvp. Just pop Mana pots and Runes on CD for PvE and you're good to go. Engineering is a MUST. Rocket Helmet and Magic Dust open 3v1 scenarios. I am so happy that i rolled the elemental shaman.

Every Class could do FINE in a premade group. Back in the old days i was playing with a premade and we did obliterate other groups - especially randoms. But as a solo Player in a 1vs 1 cenario u can nearly do nothing against other classes. Due to the fact of patch 1.3 the amount of damage for e.g. mages and warlocks can frontload - Enhancement shamen sucks. U only have to hope for a WF crit - or u can never kill anybody. Each ranged class can easy prevent u from getting to them - or prevent u from damaging them. When i remember the nerfed WF for no reason. Only for the videos of Creed and Unbreakable. Every one shoutet - Enhancer OP. No one saw how for e. g. Unbreakable did these massive crits to other player woh did not fight back. In his battelground szenes its so obvious. As a Shaman u can not fight a Warrior with BWL equip with a 2hander. The Warrior will shmash u to pieces.

Naquan Jefferson against rogues you dont ever cast, you just kill them with Fire Nova Totem, Lightning Shield and Shock spam (plus random white damage), and if you really need it you can use Nature Switness to fully heal or kill them with Chain Lighting if they are low. Against warrior it’s similar but it’s much easier to sneak in a Chain Lightning if you fakecast bait them, then they can’t win. It should also be said that Tauren stomp makes these matchups considerably easier too since it 100% guarantees a CL cast, although it is not completely necessary.
Just wait til we get T2 3 set for healing output lol T1 8 set is pretty crazy like 880+hps for now but T2 3 set with max +healing we jump to like 1800+ hps. PvP we were much better in tbc and wotlk compared to vanilla but yeah elemental picks up in phase 4 onwards when we can get hit rating lol
I love my shaman, but our complete lack of cc and defensive cds or abilities makes my class an easy zerg kill, i often get targeted first and blown out in seconds in a rather helpless manner, even in team play, it aint easy...
we are not a front line class in pvp...ele snipes and enhance we dive into the backlines as disruption and one shot priest healers...it's all about tactics and strategy...
Before level 40 you go enh. When you rich 40 you have an option to spec elem, as elem from that moment can level faster than enh, but it requires to have a lot water in your bags.
yeah, enh til 40 and then respec to ele for elemental mastery (gaurenteed crit). I found that I was drinking as enhance after every 2 or 3 mobs anyway so its not that different with ele, just you kill things faster with ele
@@xiverz4320 it's very slow leveling..I used 2 hander with rock bitter...you hit just as hard as a leveling warrior... and I gaurantee 2 hander is faster because i dual leveled a warrior at the same time and hit 60 in about two weeks..
they are fun. get shut down hard by one curse of tongues. if your healers n dps are good, they can shut down everything the shaman is there for. this is just my experience playing around with max geared players on pservers. Cant 1shot if you struggle to cast.
Enhancement and elemental shamans are more than welcome in raids from what I’ve seen. Most raids struggle to get more than 1-2 shamans at most so even if you’re meme spec I think you can get in any raids
@@DriftNick He means use Zandalarian Hero Charm cast war stomp then chain lighting then shock then died rogue. Orc is kinda a rng bet only 25% chance to res stuns it's a dice roll that is not in you fever I play a orc warlock and I don't get stun res as much as you think. WAR stomp is guaranteed AOE Stun it give you time to cast chain lighting or a heal or just get away. Shaman have no good defend against melee once their already on them. IF you res a rogue's stun or wars charge Cool, but their still in your face and they can still kick your casts and make pushback. war stomp lets you make plays to counter.
yeah it's takes one rogue to sneak around the backlines and open up on the shaman and unless somebody helps the shaman is died. you have no cc or stun or moment move to get away.

I’m still having fun in MC defiantly not a challenging raid. But I do enjoy bringing 40 guildies to a raid every week and growing closer as a squad.

Gary Owlman Paladins help them a lot too but warriors are just strong with a healer.

Hunters are incredible in both pve and pvp! BM is a beast in pvp and MM is really good in PVE! I don't know how well BM performs in raid content though.
All I can say is that I leveled a shaman to 50, then a hunter to 60 and started raiding. It's underwhelming. I'm now 60 with my shaman and I have alot of fun. Personally, shaman is more fun and I love getting all the gear for all specs

I am not bashing on just this youtube channel, but am I the only one that watches the majority of classic videos in 1.75 speed because we do want to listen to this info but it feels like the info could be said in half the time. I am nobody to say this, i bet that all youtube creators do this because of youtubes algorithm but come on, all these wow classic videos that are above 10 minutes long could be 5 minutes long or less with the same amount of information.
Saying all this, props to you @punkrat and every wow classic content creator because you do bring knowledge to your subsriber base, i am one of those. Still do they have to all be over 10 minutes long for information that could be said in 5 minutes or less?
BTW in pvp enchanced shamen are disgustingly OP. I used to beat T3 Windfury warriors with blue gear back in vanilla. Earthshock + windfury combos are devastating.

Shaman fanatic here. I main enhancement shaman, i'm leveling a second shaman to 60 and i'm twinking a lv 19 shaman. I played shaman for 2+ years on private servers and i played shaman for multiple years on retail.
Regarding the video, you need to differentiate between viable and optimal a lot better, enhancment is definetly viable. No question about it. They don't go OOM as fast as u claim, that's just a common misconception. If u do things right u're actually doing rather good DPS even compared to the other classes, however, u do need to put more effort into it like u did mention. I myself have chosen the support route and is because of that dealing much less damage than what i could if i had gone optimal dmg route, but its the way i enjoy to play the game with my guild. Working on my Sulfuras now for PvP.
Elemental is actually doing very well atm, much better than people expect, and that's thanks to the bossfights being much shorter because better gear is available and people are a lot better at the game.
Resto PvP is basically elemental PvP but with healing gear. U did a good explanation of it. What u did fail to mention which would be a great sellingpoint in this progaganda video, Elemental Mastery works with spellbatching, allowing u to get a Chain Lightning + Earth Shock off with 100% crit on both spells consistently. There are videos of people doing 8k burst in this manner in classic.

@@illbean1337 there's no access to overpowered gear compared to hunters/rogues, at 39 though.. some of the most unbalanced 2h weapons + windfury + ghost wolf form before everyone has a mount. Just saying, 39 u will be the king of the bg.

Oh my gosh, please no. Guys, shamans are difficult to play. Gear is not optimized that well, and its difficult to get over other caster classes. Melee too! Some of the gear shown in the clips are not in game right now.
Just, don't expect to level up and start 1 shotting people. It's not like a Rogue who can 100 to 0 you, completely naked. Gear is important and it's not easy to get.
You'll lose most duels, and you get focused in bg's. It's important to note that shamans have no survivability (bubble, feign death, blink, vanish).
Shamans excell in PvP, but, in order to do so; your teammates must also perform and react well. Because shamans have no survivability, your teammates performance is just as important as your own. It's a support class with burst to finish off priority targets.
And for the love of god; pass shamans raid assistance in bg's! It's important that shamans can change group comps on the fly during a bg so that whoever is nearby can benefit from totems.
No, shamans are not busted. They are difficult to play, don't have access to optimized gear, are not the best in 1v1, are reliant on teammates around them to perform well in bgs, and have no escape.
In a world of one shots, a 10 second silence is busted, end of story.

I did enh this time around and ended up getting hand of rag. Ele is, without a doubt, better and easier to play, though. I just like not playing the meta. Plus a windfury one shot is the best feeling ever

elemental shaman pairs effectively with hunters. Long range high burst artillery that can decimate waves of incoming alliance at any of the spicy chokepoints in AV

I love having shamans on my team. I'd say if your primary focus is PvP, there is no reason to go resto though. Go elemental and heal when needed. Or if you really insist on being a Resto Shaman, use +spell damage/healing gear, mixed with +nature damage, not raw +healing. And for the love of god, I don't care how good of a staff you pickup... use your shield in battlegrounds!

First, cdew was enh not elem in cdl. Another shaman Fyz was elem. Shamans on the most parts bit hunters and warriors. In the later stages of the game when there are pvp trinket,more mail gear with crit and nature spell power the situation will be different.
Hybrid classes are really weak in early phases of Classic.

I decided to main an elemental shaman. turns out, if you go the extra mile you're OP AF. I was told i would be the bottom of the barrel, instead topping dps meters in pve and dominating in pvp. Just pop Mana pots and Runes on CD for PvE and you're good to go. Engineering is a MUST. Rocket Helmet and Magic Dust open 3v1 scenarios. I am so happy that i rolled the elemental shaman.
If you are top dps in PvE all the other dps are awful.

Every Class could do FINE in a premade group. Back in the old days i was playing with a premade and we did obliterate other groups - especially randoms.
But as a solo Player in a 1vs 1 cenario u can nearly do nothing against other classes. Due to the fact of patch 1.3 the amount of damage for e.g. mages and warlocks can frontload - Enhancement shamen sucks. U only have to hope for a WF crit - or u can never kill anybody. Each ranged class can easy prevent u from getting to them - or prevent u from damaging them.
When i remember the nerfed WF for no reason. Only for the videos of Creed and Unbreakable. Every one shoutet - Enhancer OP. No one saw how for e. g. Unbreakable did these massive crits to other player woh did not fight back. In his battelground szenes its so obvious. As a Shaman u can not fight a Warrior with BWL equip with a 2hander. The Warrior will shmash u to pieces.

Except they die in a charge stun? You know damage is far off the most defining factor in pvp? A single ret or warrior would literally facestomp a shaman with no effort, there isnt counterplay when ur class loses 3/4 its hp in a micro stun

Naquan Jefferson against rogues you dont ever cast, you just kill them with Fire Nova Totem, Lightning Shield and Shock spam (plus random white damage), and if you really need it you can use Nature Switness to fully heal or kill them with Chain Lighting if they are low. Against warrior it’s similar but it’s much easier to sneak in a Chain Lightning if you fakecast bait them, then they can’t win. It should also be said that Tauren stomp makes these matchups considerably easier too since it 100% guarantees a CL cast, although it is not completely necessary.
I’ve had an enhanced shammy in Vanilla, and on every big Vanilla server, and in classic. And they dominate at everything but raw raid DPS.

Just wait til we get T2 3 set for healing output lol T1 8 set is pretty crazy like 880+hps for now but T2 3 set with max +healing we jump to like 1800+ hps. PvP we were much better in tbc and wotlk compared to vanilla but yeah elemental picks up in phase 4 onwards when we can get hit rating lol

I love my shaman, but our complete lack of cc and defensive cds or abilities makes my class an easy zerg kill, i often get targeted first and blown out in seconds in a rather helpless manner, even in team play, it aint easy...
we are not a front line class in pvp...ele snipes and enhance we dive into the backlines as disruption and one shot priest healers...it's all about tactics and strategy...

What's the general consensus for shaman leveling spec? Enh? Or Ele?
Before level 40 you go enh. When you rich 40 you have an option to spec elem, as elem from that moment can level faster than enh, but it requires to have a lot water in your bags.
yeah, enh til 40 and then respec to ele for elemental mastery (gaurenteed crit). I found that I was drinking as enhance after every 2 or 3 mobs anyway so its not that different with ele, just you kill things faster with ele
flametounge 1h + shield if u conserve mana properly u never have to drink its boring but fastest solo way to level
@@xiverz4320 it's very slow leveling..I used 2 hander with rock bitter...you hit just as hard as a leveling warrior... and I gaurantee 2 hander is faster because i dual leveled a warrior at the same time and hit 60 in about two weeks..

they are fun. get shut down hard by one curse of tongues. if your healers n dps are good, they can shut down everything the shaman is there for.
this is just my experience playing around with max geared players on pservers. Cant 1shot if you struggle to cast.

Enhancement and elemental shamans are more than welcome in raids from what I’ve seen. Most raids struggle to get more than 1-2 shamans at most so even if you’re meme spec I think you can get in any raids

Orc is kinda a rng bet only 25% chance to res stuns it's a dice roll that is not in you fever I play a orc warlock and I don't get stun res as much as you think. WAR stomp is guaranteed AOE Stun it give you time to cast chain lighting or a heal or just get away. Shaman have no good defend against melee once their already on them. IF you res a rogue's stun or wars charge Cool, but their still in your face and they can still kick your casts and make pushback. war stomp lets you make plays to counter.

yeah it's takes one rogue to sneak around the backlines and open up on the shaman and unless somebody helps the shaman is died. you have no cc or stun or moment move to get away.
