  • Next up is my 1 of 12 - 1973 Porsche 914 that I've owned for 33 Years.
    I’m the second owner of this rare ‘73 914 that was purchased out of Ohio thru Alan Johnson Racing (AJUSA) in San Diego, back in 1991. She sits exactly as you see here since the purchase 33 years ago, except for: the 15 x 7 polished factory Fuchs, Hoosier R8 tires and the GT bucket seat with a Simpson 5-point racing harness. I also dressed-up the top side of the motor with the red powder coating and a set of Hotwire spark plug wires. She’s been one of my favorite Porsches that I’ve had the good fortune to own over the years.

    Nicely set up car. In high school a friend's brother had a 914-6 that he never drove to work and couldn't figure out why it was getting miles on it when he wasn't driving it. 🤔🤣

      Hey @johnandrews3568 - and thanks on the comment about the set-up, she is a special '73 914. Sounds like your friend's brother was quietly putting miles on the 914-6, but didn't wanna drive her to work and then have to leave her unattended - maybe? CheeRS

    Extremly very, very, very unique and rare this Volksporsche.

      Exactly @h-j.k.8971 - and a factory black/10 color code for this '73 914 too. Didn't see a lot of 2.0L 4 cylinder 914's in black, so just one more thing that makes this Porsche, "...unique and rare..." - thanks you so much for your comment - CheeRS

    I always loved the 914's. Saw a stock one a bit ago and was reminded just how spartan they are compared to current cars.

    Owner Richard,
    My first car was a 1973 2.0 914. Man you make me really want one again and do a 6cyl swap. Oh my goodness your car is beautiful and sounds soo happy. Thank you for sharing this car with us.
    I really made a mistake letting it go 25 years ago…
    I couldn’t beat anyone with my 95hp stock motor but one corner, and I was gone!

      @Richardsdelegance  Місяць тому

      Hey @MattnMathias - WOW, that's awesome on your first car being the '73 2.0L 914 - a man after my own heart :-) a good economically manageable Porsche, with enough get up and go to really enjoy!! It's never to late to find an early 914 at a reasonable market price and make the changes you might like. Thank you so much for your kind words about my '73 914 and yep, that flat 6 - 2.7L carbureted motor with the open GT engine grill - sounds great inside the cab. Thanks again and CheeRS

      Hello @LinguraDeLemn93 - and thank you so much for your kind words about my small collection and yes, between Triluxcreative Production Company and Richard Mason Hughes as the content creator and manager of my YT channel and our Instagram page - these guys are great at what they do. Along with Ro, Page, Shara, Jarrett and Trevor - we have a great team. We have taken a of bit time off, but stay tuned - we should have a short reel or two for the YT channel today or tomorrow and then hopefully this weekend a 14 minute video about the M.B. that you see in the Cave. And then, we'll have some stuff up soon about my new 2024 718 Spyder RS. Thanks again and CheeRS

    73 i bought a yellow volkswagenporshe with a 2.0L vw engine it had some chromed parts and removable top and a perfect midle engine well calibrated and fun to drive , the porshe 914 came out in mid 70´s in two versions one powerfull and other more powerfull not with chromed bits and expensive but it was nice allthough today they look bad when new were beautifull .the first showed is a volks it even as the chromed bits and rearview side mirror like the beetle, the old gizer hangs on top of the steeringwheel, who am i to speak i´m 80 but i dont look like that guy with the hat turned in the back, nice he now can aford his favorite car nice work it´s fine by me

      Hello @RUfromthe40s - sorry for my delay and yes, the fun of driving a 914, whether clean or not so clean - that little mid-engine with the flat 4 or 6 was a special collaboration between Porsche and Volkswagen. Porsche's first production year for the 914 was 1969 thru 1976 and it was 1970-1971 that the 914-6 entered the market, whether narrow body or the GT with fender flares. Now - in regards to 'the old geezer' - yes, I do lean forward, but not because I'm old - I just like to be on top of the wheel and don't wanna reach for the shift knob. If my upper back was back in the seat, and being only 5'7" - the throw forward would be a reach for me. And, the cap backwards is my trade mark - thanks for your comment, appreciate it - CheeRS

      @@Richardsdelegance i agree with you but volkswagen built it witha 2.0L engine not from Porshe only in mid 70´s they made it porshe ,i bought one when i was 21 in yellow ,and it´s only natural. Porshe were first built from non destroyd unassembled vw beetle´s they beaten the panels till they were more low to the ground from the Nazi years and sold in california that allowed Ferdinad Porshe to be released from prison by the french with the sales that were a lot in the U.S. and the idea was from his son and he paid millions at the time and liberate his father ferdinad Porshe so both brands grew up together ,today i drive as my daily driver a Skoda Octavia diesel the lights knob is the same as in the most expensive new porshe 911, or like in a Audi or VW or SEAT all VW group, but only in mid 70´s the made the porshe 914/6 first only volkswagenporshe long but in metal and atatched to the body in the back what a ride even with the 2.0L VW, on top of the engine the cover says volkswagen not porshe ,the ones who say the reverse were made by it´s owners

    I don't think that's an upside down 915 transmission. It has a hole in the bell housing for a "push" type clutch and the number of ribs on the "bottom" is wrong. He also said that it has a 904 main shaft. That absolutely would not fit in a 915 case and it was hardly needed. The 915 would have different gear sets. There are some other clues I'm not as sure of. What I suspect is in the car is a 901 case, similar to the 914.

    • @Richardsdelegance
      @Richardsdelegance  Місяць тому +1

      Hey man, thanks for your input. I didn't build the car myself and I don't have the expertise on this matter you seem to have, I could only go based on what I was told when I bought it. I have an email with details on the setup I received after purchase. It explains everything I spoke about and more. I can send it your way and we can go over the details. Ultimately I'd like to be 100% correct on this matter because my knowledge on Porsches I don't take lightly, esp the ones I own. So, let me know what you think and I look forward to hearing from you soon - cheeRS

      @Richardsdelegance  Місяць тому +1

      Hey @sk3LeTvM1 - thanks for you comment, but I'm a bit confused - what would 1 of 12 modified 914's not make this an 'uber rare' Porsche. Certainly 'only 1 ever made' would also qualify for being 'uber rare', but the build on my 914 is unique and rare in it's own right. Congrats on your Cabrio and having worked for Porsche - do you still own that 914? Thanks again and CheeRS
