- Shallow water snapper fishing on a time crunch (after work)
With bad weather forecast for the weekend i made the call to head out kayak fishing after work. The results were surprisingly positive considering the location and time of year...

Snapper are often hard to find this time of year (mid January) as they've finished spawning and often become very dispersed heading into deeper water, never the less I optimistically went looking in 4meters of water depth and still managed to find a feed.
I hope this video can show that even if you've only got a few hours after work to go fishing you can still make it happen!
surprsingly successful sessions r always the best. shallow water trolling with the kayak is so fun especially for snapper
Keep up the good work bro🤙
Cheers bro
YES PLEASE. I read that Tetsuya likes them and they are tasty done right. I'll try to find the article and link it. Cher bro 4 all the content ❤
I meant re: the yukka catch and cook suggestion.
i've actually been doing a bit of experimenting with cooking the yakkas, pretty good eating if you ask me. maybe a video in the near future if i can catch a few. thanks for the support, cool that u like the content. im really enjoying making it
Another great video Matt. I am really enjoying your videos. I am going to go to my secret spot on the western side of the Coromandel peninsula on Friday. Only 6 metres deep but I got my limit (7) of snapper there a couple of weeks (32 o 35 cm) ago in a couple of hours.. Only 1.5 kms paddle from the carpark. Fish your feet first is a good mantra. I live near Hamilton so I can't just pop out for a fish after work but I am a big fan of shallow fishing. Anyhow, keep up the good videos.
Good luck John! Go slay em... living in Hamilton must would kill me with fishing withdrawals hahah. Thanks for the support
wicked, Never seen snapper fishing like that bro
Cheers man, grew up fishing like this...
Best day to go fishing that day bro cause it was my birthday that day lol😂
Happy birthday bro! Hope u liked the vid
@@NomadicKayakFishing cheers bro, yeah 🤙 enjoyed the vid bro
Matt WOW 😳 incredible beautiful places 😊. I landed one snapper last week but I've got to be honest I can't find them like you do. I spin to much time worried about bull shark 😔 we all loved the video thanks for the awesome adventure. I'm going to tell all my subscribers to check out your channel and like and subscribe. I put up a crappie video got 80,000 view but one up same place and got 700 I don't understand you tube. But yeah man love this video you've got me back into the salt Life. If I don't get eaten alive. Florida is full of sharks a guy on the beach got a 14 ft great white 300 yards from were I put my kayak in. 😢😢. But I had a great time I was thinking out there ok how did Matt do this 😅. Matt you keep putting video's like this out there in a year your going to be big. I'll ask miller Wilson to check out your channel. Thank Matt
Thanks so much man, and yea this youtube thing sure is confusing. Hope you get some more snapper over in the US, appreciate the support. Good luck
them slimy mack are good sashimi mate
Sashimi you reckon, ill have to get some soy sauce and Wasabi next time I catch some...
Cleaned up mate! Too easy. What gears you use for your setups?
Cheers mate! I run a mix of Shimano, Penn, Fin nor, and Abu Garcia. This Particular day I'm using a Shimano tr100g on a Abu Garcia bait cast rod. Aswell as a a Penn warfare 300 reel on a Penn alliance 4-8kg spinning rod. Hope that helps bro
Have tried a jack mack japanese recipe , fillet marinate in ginger ,oil, and garlic i think. fried wasnt to bad fish were from clean offshore water not muddy harbour three good sized macks was plenty makes a change for snapper

Waihau bay did what you said hit it on the nose with my paddle a couple of times.
Then, ten minutes later.
