I tried them all and ended up going back to what I had originally all along 🤣 This is a light hearted video! Any beauty trends you tried that was a fail that you laugh about now?
My parents never allowed us to wear bonnets, pajamas, and house shoes, outside of the home. I can’t stand when people wear their pajamas, it’s just as bad as a bonnet in my opinion.❤
The look on guys faces when they see a woman wearing a bonet .......they think "I'll probably go out with you once, but I'll never marry you"! I wish women knew the guys were thinking this!😢😮😅 So glad my parents instilled values in me no matter how bad you feel "always look presentable" or you will definitely end up with a cat! That stood with me! Years later.....married for 13 years, two kids (possible 3rd one on the way, and I'm a very very happy stay at home wife and mom)!❤
I love this video. I feel the same about makeup, I’ve been to many different make up artists but none of the makeup looks worked for me. I eventually learned how to do my own makeup then just realised that I didn’t like the dramatic look😅.
Girl this video is on point. I used to be super slim. And I tried so hard to gain weight. My husband finally looked at me and said you aren’t built that way. And for my wedding a makeup artist did a trial makeup on me and I hated it. I decided to do my own makeup. Everyone was like no are you sure etc etc. but I know my face and I don’t like heavy or exaggerated makeup. I don’t feel as pretty with a whole bunch of layers and colors and dark shades on my face. Love your blue sweater looks so pretty. I am going to work on not having the bright color braids. My family and friends think😂 all those colors don’t suit me lol
I also think you look nice with more of a natural look, especially your hair the way it is now, it looks sooo good on you! Maybe because we both have longer faces and on us natural makeup looks better and also curly hair as it adds width to the sides of our face? I love the way your hair looks, and ESPECIALLY paired with those dainty dresses! It’s a vibe
@rahtherose98 have you tried pastels? I feel the same way with mustard yellow! I also gravitate to more earth toned rustic colors but it doesn’t do much for me. I’ve been leaning into pastels lately
@@Offthebeatenpath. I finally got tired of all my extensions, half wigs and braids. My hair is longer now and I finally feel more comfortable letting it be free. Plus all the hair cost a lot of money 💰 getting it done etc. Loved this video 💅
@@sunny2438 I used to be very slim. I don’t know if anyone has told you, but you are perfect the way you are. Also as we get older we naturally will gain wait. I also was slim on school because I was always stressed and working.
When you have fuller facial features, high cheekbones, defined jawline, full lips you have to be careful with makeup because you naturally have the features people use makeup to highlight. I can’t wear heavy makeup, eyeshadow or dark super defined brows, it’s way too much on my face.
Maybe I have fuller facial features?? I’ve been hearing about low visual and high visual weight and it all makes sense why heavy makeup looks harsh on me
@@Offthebeatenpath. you do, we naturally have great bone structure. Keep it light and you’ll see the difference. If it helps: I only use a concealer the same shade as my skin tone in my t zone, lightly powder to set, brown brows with light concealer and if I contour I only use a brown a few shades darker than my skin tone, no blush and when I wear lashes I make sure it’s a natural wispy
Yes learning my seasonal color (dark autumn) and kibbe (flamboyant natural) has changed things entirely for me. It makes it a lot easier to accept yourself and feel your best when you know what works for you and what does not. Are you in the summer family?
I also think I am a natural! I’m not sure if I’m summer or winter! I’m assuming more summer since I do not look good in black and I get more compliments in brighter colors
Been a long time since I’ve watched you so I hope your family is doing great and everyone is in good health. Also great points made;in my 20s I tried to follow make up trends. In hindsight I looked crazy 😂 I look way better with less make up since I have a strong face.
It's all about the color theory Gwen when it comes to clothes, i love nudes and colors but its all about getting the right tones and shades for your skin color 👌🏽
Very interesting video. Thank you for sharing. Personally I don’t follow most trends. I just wear what flatters my body and my facial features the most. Like contouring for example. I just find it unnecessary so I don’t do it. As far as clothing I just wear what flatters my figure and what I feel the most beautiful in. Great video.❤
Thats the best thing you can do for yourself! Some people pull inspo from trends but as you get older and learn what flatters you, it becomes less of a thing!
@@Offthebeatenpath. Exactly, I’m just glad I realized it at a younger age. Hopefully young women will watch this video and similar videos alike that will help them realize it sooner.
Omg I kid you not..last night I was thinking about how blonde hair is NOT for everyone😂 It does not look great on every skin complexion. Certain hair colors, hair styles, clothing colors, etc appear different on everyone! My mom is guilty of trying to emulate trends that look good on others and not necessarily her😩 I’ve been trying to help her find her signature “look”.
😂 I think everyone can make it “work” to some degree depending on the tone of blonde but some just honestly look better with darker hair! That’s sweet of you to help her
Yessss Gwen! You're doing the Lord's work with this beauty video ministry! Less is more! You look so gorgeous and youthful with your simple make-up natural hair look. Sidenote - I think most men that make wonderful Godly husband do not like the obvious faux lashes, my husband calls them caterpillars!!!! LOL When I heard that, I was like "Lord may I never let someone convince me to let the caterpillars crawl upon MY eyelids, no Sir!" He had me rollinggggggg.
I never really looked it to all of this I guess I just jump to what I think is best 😅 but I appreciate this video because how I’m excited to watch that UA-camrs you recommended in hope I learn a thing or too ✨
Hahah it’s best to just do what fits you! If you watch Aly Art you will 100% learn something! She takes things into great detail, it’s really impressive
It’s so true there’s so many personal aspects that goes into beauty. Face shape and features, skin tone, undertones, hair texture and trends need to be customized to each person.

Also Can we BAN wearing a bonnet outside in public 😂
When I was younger my grandparents got on us if we went out with a scarf on 😂
Seriously though
My parents never allowed us to wear bonnets, pajamas, and house shoes, outside of the home. I can’t stand when people wear their pajamas, it’s just as bad as a bonnet in my opinion.❤
I say this all that time!!! 😂

Same here 🤣 it looks scary on me
Thanks gwen . Dark suites you much better than blonde. . People definitely have colours that suit them .
I think so too 😂
You must be a winter color palette? cause those cool bright colors look so good on you!!

Very True! Im a Soft Dramatic kibbe type ,and I look too dramatic with strong make-up.

I think that’s what it is for me too 🤣 the strong face so makeup, too much applied can look clownish! And thank you for coming back 🫶🏽
I love nudes but i think they make me look just sexy as oppose to modest and prettty color which make me feel more feminine and girly.
I’ve never thought about it from this perspective!

That chart at 7:36 really open my eyes. 😮 The women are all the same weight but look drastically different.
Yes! Especially over different ethnicities and age group, we all carry weight differently!
You look stunning in color! ❤

The neutral colour palette is horrendous for many of us women of colour. Colour analysis is the key to finding what looks best on each of us! ❤❤
It certainly was the case for me!

Yesss I agree! I’m finding that when I wear my hair curly, I like it better with certain fabrics over others 🤣😅 it may be just me though
@@Offthebeatenpath. definitely! I wear different styles when my hair is curly vs straight
