Fitz was pissed and fighting with everything he had, but at the end of the day he was a lover and not a fighter, while Kalas was a committed and regular killer of other Immortals.

The official backstory for why he didn't fight as well was actually the sword. Kalas' Orignal bastard sword had a large fuller at the base of the grip to counterbalance the blade. The one he acquired in this story after he escaped didn't have that so, he was off-balance in his hands when fighting against a master like MacLeod.

So i have to say, in this new Hollywood era of reboots, Highlander is a reboot that could rival GoT/LOTR... ESPECIALLY, if it gets picked up by a major streaming service as a series. I mean, you could literally go anywhere with this. Maybe immortality is a dormant gene. Maybe immortals were smart enough to create safeguards for when mortals find out their existence, such as a council/organization or controlled Holy Ground locations like the hotel in John Wick, or their own scientists and historians....
considering not even a double horseman kill was 10% of this, makes me think this was partial holy ground and kinda what a holy ground would look like (only that holy ground nukes it all and the winning immortal too).
Consider that in the Highlander universe, the last time an immortal willingly violated the Rules was in Pompeii, and the backlash caused the volcano to erupt.
Looking back on it u have to wonder if they would've told on their newscasts they did of the electric outage and the insurance claims thereafter nowadays from that big lightning rod effect.. which was yes hands down ahead of its time and still awesome a the 1st time aired... and no love for Methos I see.. loved Fitz..

Though I don't think Duncan cared much considering what Kalas did to his friends. He was just pointing out he was definitely taking his head.
The guy who played the immortal Kurlow knows a thing or two about sword fight choreography. The sword fight in that episode is fantastic....much better than any other episode.
Out of curiosity I have to ask. Duncan had no scars (according to Dr Linsey) Why didn't Kalas' throat heal after Duncan cut into it with a piece of glas? 🤔
The loosely followed theory is that deep cuts to the neck or above (face or head) don't heal completely resulting in a scar. There were other immortals with scars on their face from battles throughout the movies/series. Now where this "rule" gets ignored in the series is in the episode "Courage" Season 3 Episode 6. Cullen cuts Duncan's neck pretty bad before he's forced to behead him, but we never see or hear mentioned any kind of scar on Duncan afterwards.
Because the neck is the immortals' weak point. The only way to kill an immortal is by decapitation, so any wounds to the neck and above always leave scars or permanent damage, like Kalas' voice. The Kurgan also had to staple his neck after Ramirez slashed him.
In every way the show was superior to the movies Duncan is a more complex character than Connor and Paul was easily the better swordsman. The villains like: Kalas, Horton Xavier and Grayson were far more complex The storylines were better
Question for All. Callus - HOW was it possible for Mac to cut & damage his throat - when my understanding was - If their head is NOT severed - their bodies COMPLETELY HEAL. That would make the whole premise of the Callus story impossible. Can anyone explain ?
It is also established that not everything heals completely, Xavier st cloud did not regrow his severed hand, kalas' severed vocal cords likely went this same route, his throat healed, but like an improperly set bone, will never be the same
It's called a plot hole. Beings who live throughout the centuries and engage in sword fights but can't heal lost fingers and limbs (which would occur frequently in sword fights), is the biggest suspension of disbelief. Should've given better healing.

Kalas wasn't even that great of a swordsman much like Xavier Saintcloud he only got that strong through ambush and trickery.
Technically from all the heads he took, he should have been pretty good from gaining the experience and knowledge of the other immortals

From the first movie, necks don't heal. I guess it the weak spot for immortals.
Anthony Kalas was ruthless, i remember when he almost took Metho's head. That was an epic quickening!!!!!!There can be only one!
