On May 2, 1865, the Metropolitan Fire Department was formed. Five years later the name was changed to FDNY and today the department is celebrating 150 years of service to the City of New York. This is a collection of videos in tribute to the firefighters of FDNY.
Happy 150th Birthday FDNY for last year! ;) 1865-2015. That was a brilliant compilation with some gorgeous trucks, great airhorn usage and nice onscene action. Funnily enough it's London Fire Brigade's 150th Anniversary this year (2016), 1866-2016. Rescue 1 is just all out there with its horns, sirens, lights and movement! Gotta love 'em. Oops at 11:39 with their car in the way like that! Silly!
Im from Australia but i love FDNY and their trucks. Coolest looking trucks and fire department in the world, those trucks are a work of beauty, love the American flag on the back rippling through the New York wind...Cheers for the footage.
Being a kid,you love to these trucks go by,and the truck I'd enjoyed the most was the ladder truck, where at the end had a driver steering the backside of the trailer,,
There is just something about a firetrucks horn that gets me super excited, every time i hear it.. When you hear it resonate through the buildings.. oh man...
Eh. Some 30-40 years ago, there was a move to do just that, and you saw departments with white, yellow or (Blecch!) lime green trucks. Even FDNY tested a couple of lime green rigs. A lot of departments eventually went back to red. After all, when you ask a child "What color is a fire truck?", what answer are they likely to give?

It's safe to say Rescue 1 Likes their horn.
Many times a siren ain't enough

Socio Listo it's called a tiller... thank me later
Those Engine & Truck Drivers are amazing doing driving in New York City with that Traffic.
I agree!
Nicely done. Never seen the spare rescue before
Rescue 1's crews sure love using the airhorn
Nice compilation!
FDNY + Rescue 1 of my Favorie fire Truck like the most
There is just something about a firetrucks horn that gets me super excited, every time i hear it.. When you hear it resonate through the buildings.. oh man...
Love this kind of videos, thanks for posting them. These trucks are just overkill flashing lights wise, can't even see the turning signals.
Absolutely outstanding
Holly jesus christ ! I love it, I want to go to NYC one day, just to see these amazing emergency services !
one of mt favorite videos i really like that you got 40 truck "Where life begins" and what kind of fire did ladder 7 respond two?
woa, a moving christmas tree !!!
Yea i like european fire service vehicles much more cuz they r more sober
SUPER SPECTACULAR TRIBUTE AND VERY WELL DONE MY FRIEND! ;o)
Great video and information
13:54 don't they have rear discharges on their trucks?
amazing truuuucks !!!!!!!!!
Rescue 1's A/O really seems to like the horn button...
Most of those Seagraves looked a bit old. Were they reserve units?
I love the pa300 siren on squad 18
Davis Gaffney Who doesn't?
Nice work
Where is Rescue one rushing on first video?
All cities must have Emergency lane and Bus lanes when planning. Bus lane to promote public transport obviously.
I'm curious how long the air horns on Rescue 1 last before wearing out.
Devon Manaseri 4 hours
Public dont hear and see those trucks coming or what? looks everybody dont care about fireman .. Respect to Firefighters
Americans
3:04 Does someone can identify the siren used for the manual tone ?
Southern VP SA450? Maybe?
Definitely not a Whelen. The manual doesn't sound like a Federal, either.
8:05 must be an old fire truck because of the front lightbars?
Yes probably 1990's
Yeah. those fire trucks were legends who's responded to 9/11
They use the older trucks for spares for when their newer trucks are out of service.
Was that Rescue 1 in Reserve
when did FDNY get a tiller?
they have always had tillers
Thats alot of LEDs... But thats the way i like it :3
what was going on between the fdny and nypd in that one clip
+futurehero11 nypd car was parked by a fire hydrant
ladder 20 is beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nice idea!
why dont they have the airhorn as part of the siren as the driver must get really pissed off having to press it/flick it all the time XD
Some fire trucks do have an option of the air horn sounding automatically
C'est fou qu'il y ait autant d'incendies à NY..
This is why I'm glad I don't live in a bigger city.
Ils font énormément d'interventions !

To much traffic in New York!
Here is an idea. MAYBE! you shouldn't use a colour on emergency viechles, that is on EVERY car, and EVERY traffic light......
