    I feel like the conscripts might get pretty demoralized if their commander keeps calling them “conscripts.” It’s like a farmer calling their cows “breakfast.”

      No, conscript is just someone pressed into military service, which includes pretty much every space marine, but also includes every kreiger, and even in things like Halo, masterchief, and every other spartan

    Be advised that building power generators next to/attached to buildings actually decreases build and research time. You keep building them off to the side when you could be tossing out a guard squad in 4 seconds or tiering up in less than 2 minutes with 3-6 generators attached to the hq

      @@Owen902 Yup. This is a Crucible/UA mod thing, though. If you are playing vanilla, it doesn't work that way.

      I agree. While it's good to see content up from DOW1 and credit to caster for being great at commentary, the turtle play style is a bit too slow for me.

    Just so you know, the plasma cutters that the Elysium drop troops get DEMOLISHES buildings.

    Shack the bunkers have always had the feature that unit squad = lasguns(Not Lascannons those are the big AT guns that heavy weapon teams get), 2 = Las + Plasma and 3 gets Las + Plasma + Heavy Bolter. Note this is for ANY unit. A commisar, commander or other single model unit counts towards the buff.

      Conscripts work GREAT for this too! Especially newly created ones. Don't need to invest into reinforcing them if you don't want. Also helps to remember that they can travel between garrison structures more or less instantly. Perfect for defending a newly acquired, unupgraded listening post!

      @@nonya1366 They do, if your 3 builders are attacked and are near a 3 cap building putting them inside can let them cause a lot of damage

    About artillery - mod maker rebalanced it giving each unit specialty:
    Medusa (tier 3) - anti-vechile(including titans) - high damage short range
    Basilisk (tier 2) - anti-infantry(special shell as well) - medium range
    Griffon |(tier 3) - anti-infantry, buildings, vehicles (inferno shells upgrade increase efficiency) - longest range of all your mobile artillery pieces. And highest rate of fire in case you want delete everything.
    And as it was mentioned few times before - building more HQ increase max plasma generators cap and building generators next to production/research building increases production rates.
    P.S. thermonuclear generators (both build on slag and late game one) have active ability to boost nukes production speed.

      Medusa for anti-vehicle is dumb. It is expressly a siege weapon meant to destroy fortifications. And the Basilisk is supposed to be the longest range mobile artillery the Guard has. There are immobile guns with longer range and there are mobile mortars with equal range, but none that are mobile with greater. And the Griffon is a specifically medium range mobile mortar if I remember correctly. It’s rate of fire and mobility being the redeeming features for its poor firepower.

    If I remember correctly without the mod the factions can be destroyed. I remembered my playthrough of playing the Imperial Guard, the Necrons destroyed the Eldar.

    something weird about this mod is that they don't want you to reach teir 5 on stronghold missions, probably to prevent global artillery usage so unlike most mods where they restrict relic access its the capture point that they removed from the missions

      thats not the case the stronghold missions are the same as in the original its not like the mod did any changes to them its just some strongholds have critical points some dont. the ones that do have critical points in their *base* are the following (imperial guard,necrons,tau,).those 3 i am 100% they have critical points

      @@evagelospapamixail9139 i can't confirm this for all of them but for example there was meant to be a critical location in the bottom left courtyard of the sisters of battle of stronghold which is clearly not there

      We'll be adding decently placed crits and relics to most if not all of the multiplayer maps. The lack of points is a vanilla Soulstorm issue.

    You forgot to actually build the gunships. I normally wouldn't have bothered mentioning it, but Vulture Gunships are absolutely AMAZING in this mod and are probably my favorite IG unit. The other weird thing about Aerial Doctrine is that it makes it so air support calldowns from the Com Towers are no longer on a shared cooldown. So if you have 8 towers, you can calldown 8 bombing runs and 8 Vulture missile strikes. Combined with sensor sweeps, your 'push button, delete enemy' potential is phenomenal.

    Oh man this is like perfectly timed, i just spent all of last night basking in holy light as every little bit of backstory for my gaurd regiment, the 119th Naval Landing regiment, fell into place in my head!
    So basically just imagine a bunch of guys and gals decked out in Halo 3 marine gear, who's job is basically that of the Mobile Infantry: load up in your dropships, fly down to the planet, and kill anything thats breathing and not human.
    But after hotdropping on top of and annihilating a "small" Ork band who were laying siege to a sparsely populated colony, their supporting battlegroup up in orbit proceeded to run into the extra dakka those Orks had called for to break the siege, and the 2 fleets then proceeded to basically pulverize eachother, as well as any kind of long-range communication to the wider galaxy.
    So now the 119th protects this secluded world from a never-ending Ork infestation, utilizing their men and their armor as their anvil, Valkyrie gunships as their hammer, the omnisiah-blessed walls of New Theelia, the only city on the planet, as their shield, and an elite corps of horse-mounted scouts as their eyes and ears.
    Every month or 2 they must send out a large expedition to keep the Greenskins' numbers down enough so they don't overrun them. Orks can be deceptively cunning, as was shown when a particularly crafty warboss took control during one expedition and nearly toppled the walls of New Theelia; but they must always be vigilent not just for Orks, for there are other threats which could fall upon their little world, as well as opportunities...

      I've got a couple of homebrew regiments in the works. My most fleshed out is the 412th Gilreth Graywatch, decked out in gray and blue who are descended from a Cadian regiment that was stranded on a Knight world. They often work in tandem with Imperial Knights, and train their soldiers on an ork infested moon, practically farming greenskins to slaughter, similarly to your regiment. They rose to fame after putting down a rogue knight house with aid from House Dallin

Whatever, anyways, they see that and then one just goes:

      *Smack* "Ow!"
      "Not. The time."

      @@kostakatsoulis2922 in the case of the 412th they were sent to stop an Ork attack, but by the end the Munitorum decided it wasn't worth retrieving what was left, so they rebuilt and established a new regiment

    The easy way to destroy the monuments is to set all of your basilisks to bomb one monument, then use another part of your army to attack another one. Either she gets thrown around by the arty's knockback and or the arty gets to destroy a monument while you kite her with your army.

      According to the inquisition there was no plasma cannon, it was simply a freak accident from a psyker nearby spontaneously exploding because... Chaos.

      It's a weird quirk of the rules isn't it? Our gaming group used to homerule that flamer-type weapons targeting flyers only hit on 6+.

    Shack, one 'BUG' with Dawn of war 1m, was that the commanders field army was not always removed from the map once the HQ was destroyed. meaning that the last teritory the fraction held was efectivly uncapturalbe.espeshaly late game.

      In mod you can in 2 ways - directly from Martian command center if select Air Support doctrine in Doctrine command. Or you just shove it into Valkyrie transport. Needs a bit of wiggling to stuff it in tho...

      I don't know about this mod specifically, but in old UA the Imperial Guard were the only faction that could air drop literally 100% of their unit cap. Infantry, armour, and relic units alike. It was a favourite surprise tactic of mine in multiplayer, if my enemy ever tried to turtle up and gave me time to do so. Was always hilarious to get the reactions, when four or more baneblades and anti-structure tanks, plus Kaskrin with demo charges, dropped down behind their defences and flattened their base in a matter of seconds.

    yeah 10 unit cap on conscripts but they are free. They are brilliant and exactly what the Imperial guard need. They can cap, they can be target practice for a commissar, they can be a delaying or holding force, or you can just garrison them to give buildings an attack.

    So the bunker thing is a base game thing where each unit added to the bunker adds more weapons, it doesn't matter what is added either one commissar is equal to a full squad of guardsman

    The way to take out the statues is to attack them with flying units (bombers) which Celeste (the living saint) can't get at.

      @@ryandrost9589 It is built into Crucible. Gets very foggy if you try to scroll out a bit. Not sure if there is a fix for the fog or not.

    is it me or did the IA built only non-UA units? i mean, granted i didn't even see a single Act of Faith used in the whole match , so they are also misusing what they already had, but it would seem they didn't build anything new eiither. They have new planes that can rip tanks apart. a mobile fortress, sixty shades of living saints, and they didn't even produce missionaries for their squads. is the stronghold ia forced to use old units, or maybe it hasn't been updated yet?

      The devs probably havnt touched the HQ missions. As shack said, they're heavily scripted. Probably didn't want to touch already spectacular set piece missions.

      Yes, but it's an old game with low poly models, so it handles it very well so long as your PC isn't too old. (And can adjust in settings if it's an issue)

    "That's why I love the Guard. Cause they're just dudes, with the whole universe stacked against them..." Shack...you know the Guard is, on it's best day, a stalling force for the Astartes to show up and win the day...right? I mean, not to utterly insult and horribly demean the Guard (that is totally what I am doing, Space Marines forever) but more often then not they are pretty much told to just go die while Command waits for the real warriors to show up.

      Shack has always been more of an emotive RTS player than an analytical one. He loves the feel and the fluff, playing a mission like a roleplay. Which is awesome, and something I honestly like to do as well if possible. The part he doesn't give as much attention to is learning/understanding the exact crunch and mechanics of the game. Gets carried away in living the moment I guess.
      There's lots of moments where he'd benefit from paying a little more attention to his actions, such as the very beginning where he was spamming squads of six conscripts and letting them die instantly for 50 resource a pop, massively draining his resources, whilst not seeming to notice that replenishing a soldier costs only 1 resource. Meaning that ever sending a squad without filling it up first, is just a dire waste.

      Not only that, but he has an audience to entertain.
      As well he forgets to repair tanks right behind a builder, or send and forget troops (in other games as well, then complaining where are they? followed by why they died?)

    but true...despite how i loath the unit limits smacking you in the face and often tiny maps for this..... with a mod like this and the basics from the source game... i am more tempted to buy a dawn of war 1 copy ,then that new star ship troppers... wich is so fking sad! ..it was a ip that since not super much been made for it i hopped it be one used to give a good new rts game...but what i seen of it just makes me feel ''giant demo'' so far :/
    edit: and ye..agree with him.. having something arbitrary diminish just to force janitor work of the player/commander is a big down point for me to aka the power generators ;)

    If the IG are normal dudes, the sisters of batlle are just normal women, none of them are enhanced. Which makes them as impressive as th IG.

      "Normal" women who all wear power armor and have faith based powers. So not as impressive as IG, but perhaps more badass.

      @@simenhartford7206 IG also has "power armor" (but yeah no faith related power, because they are faithless heretics. It only depends on them to believe enough for the Emperor to grant them blessings... ^^)

      @@etienne8110 True but power armor is really rare in Imperial Guard, usually only see high-ranking commanders wear it. In SoB everyone has it except for medics. Big difference.

      @@simenhartford7206 IG makes up for it in ogryn troops or with artillery and mechanized units.
      I'm curious as to how they explain in the lore how the sisters of battle manage to get so many power armors? They are quite costly to make thus the priority given to astartes.

    I assume the Thundered’s rate fire is high because of the gun’s position, after firing, the loader can simply roll a new shell into the breach assuming there is something like a spring pushing them into alignment for it. Boom, roll, boom, roll, boom, roll.

    Conscripts I view as the lore version of new Imperial Guard regiments. According to pretty consistent lore, a new regiment is not expected to survive its first combat deployment. Which means the career regiments are made up of either the particularly badass survivors or, more likely, the surviving scraps of multiple regiments produced by a planet smooshed together to form a true regiment of bloodied Imperial Guardsmen. Which means most likely new regiments probably have millions of soldiers and the average regiment size of ten thousand is just because new regiments die too quickly to affect the average.
    Really puts Hardened Veterans into perspective.

    It is so unfair in vanilla that the faction specialized in destroying morale and vehicles starts beside the faction with low moral and heavily reliant on vehicles.
