Awe inspiring! Not many artists can step into the shoes of a legend and come away with a piece of work just as memorable as the legend's original. What a talent!
Agreed. The art story boards were such an incredible touch. I look forward to the end of every episode. Also to note what differences exist between the art and live action.
His ability to stray from the classic Star Wars score by John Williams and going into something completely different while still maintaining the spirit of Star Wars with an added western feel is just incredible!!!
This theme has like everything in it. A bit of Western, a bit of a march kind of feel for Mando's warrior heritage, Star Wars classic fanfare kind of thing, a bit of sci-fi in the synths. Such amazing work by everyone involved in this show
I love how the music is fresh, western-like and still honors the legacy of John Williams. I'm in love of the Mandalorian theme. Very Morricone in my perspective.

@@prestonfernandes2071 this was clearly in the works during production, there were clips in the BTS of Mando showing Ludwig on some of these sets, now it makes sense, while the sets are up in the volume, shoot a few different takes of him performing the song and piece it together at the end! @@AngeloBarovierSD sure, they might be categorized similarly, but you said it, this is the first original music video. Which is my point, I never thought I'd see them PRODUCE a music video. But man, this title is a horrible misrepresentation. I thought this was like an interview or something hahah.
As a musician myself listening to the Mandalorian soundtrack this popped into my mind: The last composer who was able to unfold simplicity to such beautiful complexity was Ludwig van Beethoven. All these ornaments, all these hints, enriching and never destroying, supporting a western-style space opera, are simply wonderful. It supports the story and it's standing for itself. Funny thing is that John Williams with his incredibly creative melodies is truly the Mozart of film music. Ludwig "van" Göransson is a worthy successor.
NO. Beethoven was deaf when he wrote the last piece. Probably had a rough life. This guy plays drums in his pyjamas and has WAAAAAAYYYYYYYY better life and musical conditions.
I remember the day after the first episode came out, I listened to this song on a loop as I walked around my college campus. When I was leaving one of the dining areas, I held the door open for someone behind me. The song was at 1:34 as I walked away acting like I was a noble gunslinger that saved a small western town from bandits. Hadn’t felt that badass in years.
For those interested, Disney Plus has a series that goes behind the scenes of Mando season 1 and there was an episode dedicated to the music alone. It’s an excellent watch, either episode 6 or 7.
This is so much fun to watch. I teach elementary music class and my students are going to love this! Thank you for taking us through the process of layering the instruments to produce the final sound. Writing music for Star Wars has to be one of the most challenging gigs a musicican/composer can get. John Williams has written history, can I can't imagine how stressful it must be to have to walk in his tracks. Yet, Ludwig Göransson managed not only to create an amazing OST for this universe, he gave it a distinct flavor, a personal touch that completely works. It fits, while being completely different. Others have tried to emulate what John Williams was doing with some level of success (Michael Giacchino did a decent job with Rogue one, as John Powell for Solo or even Jeremy Soule with KOTOR), but they didn'T sound "personal" in my opinion. So good job on The Mandalorian, I enjoyed every minute of it! :)
I love how he went for his own thing, taking inspiration of people like the master Ennio Morricone instead of copying John Williams style. Almost every other composer that was tasked with creating an original Star Wars score tried to copy Williams and just ended up sounding like a downgraded version of what Williams could have composed. This theme, on the other hand, feels very original, fresh and still very appropriate for a Star Wars show. I love it.
But the horns in the climax are clearly inspired by Williams. Thats what makes it so great. He made Star Wars music and made it his own while honoring the past. So good.
Yeah it's basically impossible to 1-up John Williams. Alan Silvestri could probably get close. This guy was smart enough to go in a different direction.
the first time I heard him do anything was on childish gambino's redbone and that instantly made me a fan! I loved how he brought back 70s R&B vibez, but listening to black panther and and mando made respect this man so much he has also worked in hip-hop! this dude is so multi genre!!!
I could say that this series has the best soundtrack, the theme is certainly iconic and is easily stuck in the mind (in fact now I'm going to whistle it all day ), and of course. . . . . . . . . . . . *this is the way*
The score perfectly matches the themes and actions of the characters. On first hearing, I sensed that the tone and instrumentation aligned with the rhythm of the film. The metallic beating also is so right for the abundance of the metal: the head dress of the Mandalorian and his movement as well as that of the creatures.Yet the music is recognizable as uniquely belonging to Star Wars. Amazing. It speaks to the talents of the composer and musicians choice of instrumentation. Well done all!

The entire series music was his own, he never mixed in a Familiar Star Wars theme. That's why when hearing his theme for the First time it was so different, and it took some time to get used to because it almost didn't even feel like a star wars theme.
s2s your father would be proud is a masterpiece
What about the score from star wars fallen order, those guys are also good
Hans Zimmer? :(
Awe inspiring! Not many artists can step into the shoes of a legend and come away with a piece of work just as memorable as the legend's original. What a talent!
Such an impactful score... whenever you hear it at the credits, it makes you wanna keep them rolling just to hear the music.
don't forget the great art too! epically combined with this glorious music

Agreed. The art story boards were such an incredible touch. I look forward to the end of every episode. Also to note what differences exist between the art and live action.

I thought I would be cool with the name Grogu at this point, and I'm still not. I hope I can eventually.

I'm so obsessed with this song. I raise the volume at the end of every Mandalorian episode ❤
His ability to stray from the classic Star Wars score by John Williams and going into something completely different while still maintaining the spirit of Star Wars with an added western feel is just incredible!!!
No ones gonna talk about the luscious trap beat at the end
Right

This theme has like everything in it. A bit of Western, a bit of a march kind of feel for Mando's warrior heritage, Star Wars classic fanfare kind of thing, a bit of sci-fi in the synths. Such amazing work by everyone involved in this show
Talented dude. He did John Williams proud with this one.
I love how the music is fresh, western-like and still honors the legacy of John Williams. I'm in love of the Mandalorian theme. Very Morricone in my perspective.
Never thought I'd see the day that I would witness Star Wars releasing a music video. This is. Fantastic. and everything I never thought it could be.
Yeah me too. We have seen Videos dedicated to Star wars Composers Explaining how they composed their music. But we never actually seen a Actual Music Video from Star Wars.
The Cinematography and Editing is this video is so amazing and they even took the advantage of using the tech from the Mandolarian like the Background Screens. Star Wars really should make more Music Video. Their Expertises in making Films really helps alot in making a good Music Video.
@@prestonfernandes2071 this was clearly in the works during production, there were clips in the BTS of Mando showing Ludwig on some of these sets, now it makes sense, while the sets are up in the volume, shoot a few different takes of him performing the song and piece it together at the end! Freaking awesome to see.
@@terone those are music montages. This was specifically filmed during production and edited to be a music video you'd see released from an artist. I adored those videos during my childhood, but no this is different, it's legitimately a music video.
@@aathmpsn Montage music videos made from existing footage are legitimately music videos.
What you mean is: This has original footage shot _for_ the music video.
(And that's still not a first for Star Wars.)
@@AngeloBarovierSD sure, they might be categorized similarly, but you said it, this is the first original music video. Which is my point, I never thought I'd see them PRODUCE a music video. Those prequel montage videos are incredibly emotional and impactful, arguably more so than this, but I'm saying I never thought I'd see them produce a music video you'd end up seeing on VEVO or something. But man, this title is a horrible misrepresentation. I thought this was like an interview or something hahah.
As a musician myself listening to the Mandalorian soundtrack this popped into my mind:
The last composer who was able to unfold simplicity to such beautiful complexity was Ludwig van Beethoven.
@@koophuisN
Only the result matters unfortunately.
Ludwig Göransson is a legend.
Even better, he’s still rising too. I truly feel blessed to be alive now. I’d thing he’s worthy of Williams legacy.
That's my favourite part of the score. Space Cowboy feels.
That’s cool

For those interested, Disney Plus has a series that goes behind the scenes of Mando season 1 and there was an episode dedicated to the music alone. It’s an excellent watch, either episode 6 or 7.

This is so much fun to watch. I teach elementary music class and my students are going to love this! Thank you for taking us through the process of layering the instruments to produce the final sound. This is one additional thing I love about my job, introducing different artists/ composers to my students!
Bruh this song is a MASTERPIECE.
I was thinking that they must be shot this "music video" inside the LED cage they used for Mandalorian and LO AND BEHOLD! They actually did.
I'm still amazed by these piece of tech.
It's called The Volume, episode 4 of the Disney Gallery goes into detail, episode 7 covers the score

I deadass never skipped the credits after an episode, not even on rewatch, just to bask in the title theme and concept arts. Truly masterful.
I could say that this series has the best soundtrack, the theme is certainly iconic and is easily stuck in the mind (in fact now I'm going to whistle it all day ),

YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS THEME AND SHOW SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
Ludwig Göransson is The GOAT!!! THIS IS THE WAY!!!
The score perfectly matches the themes and actions of the characters. On first hearing, I sensed that the tone and instrumentation aligned with the rhythm of the film. The metallic beating also is so right for the abundance of the metal: the head dress of the Mandalorian and his movement as well as that of the creatures.Yet the music is
recognizable as uniquely belonging to Star Wars. Amazing. It speaks to the talents of the composer and musicians choice of instrumentation. Well done all!
A seamless combination of western and galactic. Musical genius👌
This is the best music video any film composer will ever get.
He won an Oscar for the music of "Black Panther" . He wrote and composed the music for the new film "Tenet".
He won two Grammy`s in 2019 for "Best song" and "Record of the year" for Childish Gambino`s "This is America".
The perfect mix between western, galactic and old school 70s war like music
He is amazing!!! The soundtracks are one of the MAJOR reasons why i like the mandalorian so much! Always looking forward for the music with each new episode

I love how Ludwig can make orchestral scoring sound so modern with the implementation of trap drums, 808s etc
This score is just as iconic as the star wars theme itself
Probably, the best Star Wars scoring ever. For me, Ludwig Goransson is a truly composer. ❤️

I agree. As amazing as John Williams work is, this is actually better music and much more transformative and emotional. Together though they are a pairing for the ages. You kind of need both to make a complete piece.
“He said you were the best in the parsec.”
But can you imagine? He will be the one to compose Ahsoka’s theme for the season 2 or 3. I am so *excited!*
And hopefully boba, but it’ll probably be Rex since ahsoka’s in it....
TheBluebomber875 but Boba is rumored to be in it too
How sad will you be when you realise that neither Ashoka, Boba, nor Rex are in the show, and you were misled by clickbait "news" sites?
