As a Kenyan who grew up in Canada since I was a kid but was born in Kenya, essentially a dual-holder, I can understand your situation. Many international students primarily from India misused this process which is why the government had to take extra measures after many complaints and pressure from the Conservative opposition. There are now calls for a proper vetting process. I am hopeful you will get the PR status but remember, you mentioned once you finished your studies, you would go back so it's best to honor that, many Canadians aren't supportive of individuals with no legal status, and it is even illegal to work without the required permits which can affect your PR application if you violate those terms. My advice is to use the remaining amount as a waiting game comfortably in Kenya considering the GDP per capita and then if approved you can come back. Canada is not the same as it was two decades ago, it is now a very expensive place even for locals and I know of many who want to leave for other cheaper alternatives but you do not want to be homeless, especially during the winter. You now have a recognized advanced education and experience which you can even use on other budget-friendly places. I still believe you can be successful here and honestly hope this goes as planned so you can eventually become a Canadian citizen. There are many resources on the gov of Canada website and you could also refer to the Kenyan High Commission office in Ottawa in the meantime.

Hey Jackie, I’m from Zimbabwe and I came to Canada as a student in 2017 just like you, my story is very similar to you as I also am now out of Status as an Illegal immigrant in Canada, Im so glad I ran into your video, thank you so much for sharing your situation, I was crying on the inside listening to your story as I am in the exact same boat. I really thought I was the only person In this situation. The only thing that’s been keeping me sane is my faith in God so hearing you talk about putting all your trust in God made it really tough for me not to cry while watching this video. I feel my faith in God is the only thing I have left. If you ever want someone to pray, talk or even cry with hit me up lol. I really thought I was the only one in this situation, I’ve kept it a secret from everyone that I know here in Canada. Keep praying and don’t lose hope. Our worldly failures are insignificant when we compare then to the eternal success that we have found in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In Christ we have Triumph! Stay Blessed and May Gods peace continue to follow you.
Why don’t you go back? I knew an African woman who stayed in Canada illegally and the things she told me my God… she’s a Canadian now in her 40s but she has no family, kids or husband. She works minimum wage jobs and is barely getting by etc… like it’s not worth staying in a country illegally, it’s a very lonely journey… now with too many people coming, jobs are scarce too. I hope things get better for you.
Born and raised here in Canada.... life in this country has been hard and a financial struggle....no opportunities to be had...unless you have money....Everything is super expensive. Nothing lasts...cars rust and need constant repair. Certainly nothing to really bragg about lol
As a Canadian living abroad, my advice to you is to go home. Regroup, come up with another plan. You can do other jobs in other countries. Maybe teach English or something. I left Canada just about when you were arriving because Canada was stagnating economically and I saw better opportunities abroad. it will only get worse for you. Things are challenging enough when Canada wants immigrants, it's going to be impossible when they become anti-immigrant. You have better qualifications now, put it to use. Also, the people in the comments section criticizing you will find out in a few years that they will have struggles too even with PR so they shouldn't get too judgmental of others. Their time will come.
I have USA and Canadian citizenship. I left both countries to move abroad also. I am in Canada now visiting family, and I am leaving in one month. I don't see myself living either in Canada or in the United States full time anymore
@@travelerawakenings8477 - The irony of it all, huh… I am Kenyan and American (live in the 🇺🇸) now and I don’t know if I want to move back to Kenya or to another country for that matter. Anyway, as long as one is happy where they are at, that’s all that matters.
@WILMA_ Home for me is where I am happy. I was living in Mexico for a year. Now, I am moving to Portugal. I am planning to make Portugal my home and keep traveling through Europe, Asia, and Africa like I have been doing. I picked Portugal for many reasons: safety is number one. The second reason is the central location to Europe, Asia and Africa.
Indian friend here, I know its difficult to get PR and its sad when you have given some 6-7 years of your life to this country. Even many of my friends are learning french at this point and i know, its difficult and unrealistic but at this point seeing all the changes in rules and job opportunities, having french would be considered an asset in coming years. also it boosts the CRS by 60 points if a person manages to get CLB 7 in both English and French. Also, francophone mobility work permit is another option ig. this might sound unrealistic but i would say if anyone is in beginning of their work permit and is looking for PR, please do your research, check which skill trade suits you the best and what are your best options Be strong mentally, PR isn’t a piece of cake anymore. Our 20s are the best years of our life, and let’s not regret any work we have done so far. Canada definitely is humbling and after spending thousands of dollars and seeing all the hate around for us , the immigrants, it hurts.
The hate is specifically for Indians, not all other nationalities. It's because Indians are coming up with "hacks" on how to shoplift and raid grocery stores, as well with general loudness and causing nuisance. I'm not saying all Indians are like that but most of the immigrants that are miscreants are Indians - Not Chinese, not Kenyans, not Filipinos.
As someone who studied abroad as an international student I’m alarmed at the # of students who assume that they are entitled to get residency in the host country …what is this “after giving so much”??? Seriously??!! You came for an education and were also allowed to work. If you’ve not qualified for PR then go home or elsewhere. NO country other than your home country owes you anything. Also, learning French is unlikely, at this time, to be helpful. Countries are entitled to assess their immigration policies and make changes as they see fit and for the benefit of its legal residents & citizens. Unfortunately, 🇨🇦created a HUGE mess with its free for all immigration, international students & temporary foreign workers programs and now have to course correct. It’s unfortunate as many “students” especially in India and parts of Africa were sold a lie about how easy it would be to get PR status by unscrupulous immigration consultants, ill-informed friends & family and greedy for profit private D rate so-called colleges.
You have to thank asylum seekers that came by thousands…to many people for the capacity of Canada, Canada have to begin to put people out somewhere and they begin by international students because in many cases private own schools are just puppy mills just profiting off the money international students brings and to many students for the capacity of housing them, not enough jobs and health services…sorry some of international students were scammed by those schools who goes in your country to sell a dream…just hope for Canada to recover from all this situation with a better immigration percentage and good opportunities for all immigrants and citizens that are also suffering from this situation to..
I know how hard it can be for immigrants. I am one of them - been in the 🇺🇸 for over two decades now. Thank God I am a Citizen now and I am so grateful. I pray that you get your paperwork so you can stay in Canada should you choose to.
This was eye opening. As a Canadian with an anti immigration sentiment I never thought of people like you who have been working so hard all of these years to just have to leave. I don’t think this is what Canadians wanted. Some bad apples have ruined it for all and that’s a shame. I hope you get your PR. So many people do things the wrong way so it sucks when people come and do the right thing but have to pay for the actions of others.
It’s my case.. Spent 13 years started as a student, worked many years without any help and one day I just decide it was enough for me so I decided to live. It was back in 2021. Best decision I ever made.
It’s not just bad apples although there have been a lot lately, it’s that there’s been too many people for a decent rate of cultural assimilation. In Toronto, immigrants don’t know our little daily politenesses that make for a smoother day for everyone, like letting people off transit before getting on, and letting elderly and disabled people get on first. So the tensions are rising due to all these little daily annoyances between people. Then the housing and jobs crises… the food greedflation… and a lot of foreign men don’t realize women are more free to dress here and what we consider to be decent they think of as an excuse for harassment… just too many immigrants for the prevailing culture to be preserved and passed on right now, which also degrades our peace overall as Canadians. If the infrastructure was in place then Canadian niceness would take over and we would welcome immigrants as we did 30, 20 years ago. But it’s not in place.
I am Canadian , and I agree with your sentiments . We need hardworking people adding value to the country - not the entitled immigrants who have bribed people for their papers , used a diploma mill , or working under the table and or only supporting their own ethnicities in OUR country ( ie. Slum lords and employers wreaping the benefits of guv grants and wage subsidies or landlords renting four to a room ) . Good, honest, hard working people are the kind we should welcome and strive to attract.

I came to BC last year December, headed to 1 year now. My story has to be in a book someday because wueeeeh! Nothing and i repeat Nothing can ever prepare you for Canada especially coming from a place like Kenya. I am sure things change as days go by, but the most challenging thing so far is the mental state.
@@mwangigitau286 hapo I agree with you 💯 Canada can be so depressing sometimes that you just want to go back home eh. But people dont understand this. Let them can and experience life themselves
Life gets easier down the road, I have lived in BC since 2011, and the only thing I still hate in the depressing dark weather and cost of life. Other than that, BC (Greater Vancouver, I mean) is the best place to be in Canada.
@@jayavatar1577 I Loved BC during Summer, but the dark weather is back again. I am not sure what about the dark weather, but something about it just make someone hate life, too much rain too! But the worst has to be the cost of living. Also for a black person the province isn't diverse, it is Asian dominated, you get looked down upon by not only some racist locals but also some Asian immigrants who come from places that put black people in some low caste in their home country! I am hopeful though, like i said i have only been here for almost an year now, i learn everyday and i choose to remain positive.
@@mwangigitau286 you're right, not many Blacks, I mean compared to Chinese or Indians or Philipinos, but you just need to know where and who to hang out with. I'm originally from Burundi, and I was connected to our community and also to other Black communities including the Kenyan community. KenBC or the Kenyan Association is where you can start if you are Kenyan, there are good guys like Philip Kimani and others who can guide you. I was involved in the African community and connected with Nigerian with guys like Soye, Ghanaian with guys like Charles Adade, etc. I know the weather is so depressing and prices skyrocketed. Africans who need to move ahead like me had to move! I relocated to Quebec City last year for work related reasons but moving to Ontario next summer. I started a real estate business, and found that it couldn't work in the Vancouver market, but I still have great contacts and friends there.
Dont allow asian or indians put you down. They are just immigrants like you and notjing special about them. Keep your head up when you see them act weird. They themselves are not all that @mwangigitau286
Thank you Madam for that! GOD Bless you abundantly! I am from Uganda 🇺🇬. I can only say that people need to understand what going to live abroad is all about. It is a transition of life from our calm and communal life in Africa to a very fast, aggressive and mean life overseas. I'm telling you social life back home is really great. Abroad be prepared to suffer from loneliness, strange weather, high rent, change of diet, different and more stringent laws. Life abroad is not glittering like gold. The greatest lesson I learned is to keep your immigration status in-check. Yes you need money while abroad but if you violate your immigration status, you become eligible for visa cancelation and sometimes deportation. So in short, you can go from doing 3 jobs, saving enough money, to then violating your status and being finally deported. Good Luck to anyone traveling to Canada, US, UK, Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe, Australia etc.
God will make a way when you do your part and give it your best❤ I was in such a pathetic situation 😪 once upon a time in 🇮🇹Italy for 2 years , i suffered 😅weh Moved to Finland 🇫🇮 now i have lived here for 10 years and i have enjoyed and have nothing 😊 negative to report about Finland 🇫🇮 except that it's difficult to get white collar jobs now am seriously considering moving to Canada 🇨🇦 for career growth and job opportunities. Other than that am happy here.
As heartbreaking as this sounds, and as an immigrant myself, if you are out of status (illegal immigrant), you should not be staying in the country. You also should not be advertising this fact online. This is going to affect your future PR/immigration/visa applications, not just to canada but to a lot of other countries as well. Apply PR from your home coutry or from a country where you have status. Girlie, you can apply for PR from anywhere. Just wait for the score to drop! Just dont wait around inside the country without status.
Born & raised Canadian here. I'm wiping the tears of laughter from my face. First of all, the ''dream'' of Canada is just that, nothing but a dream. Our government is great at selling the LIE of the so called Canadian Dream to foreigners. Today's Canada is drastically different than before the pandemic. If you want to struggle to survive, struggle to find a job that pays a living wage, pay almost all your income to rent, eat from a food bank because all your money goes to rent, be miserable, depressed, struggle through 6 months of freezing cold snowy weather than come on over. Rents continuously go higher and higher that you will lose your apartment and have to live in a Trudeau Town, these are our tent cities all over the country. Yes you will live outdoors through our -20, -40, -60 below zero winters. And when the polar vortex comes down from the arctic, you will freeze to death. An honest warning from a Canadian who has come to despite my own country and it's government.
I'm not sure how Canada works, but in the US there's a cutoff date where you transition from out of status to illegal. If you overstay more than six months it is hard to enter into the US ever again. They don’t forgive you. I hope you are aware of the Canadian rules.
I love how honest you are. Whatever you do don't apply for refugee. A failed refugee claim willl affect you applying to visit other countries. When things don't workout appy to another country
NOT TRUE. One can still go other European countries. But can be impossible to go other country that are all the 5 eyes countries that share immigration together.
Canada is still a good place, regardless! I have been here for 13 years, and there are things that you need to get right before moving to Canada: Do your research! 1. Windsor is not the warmest place in Canada. Vancouver is, and I have been there for 12 years. However, it's also the most expensive City in Canada followed by Toronto. 2. Don't plan to come and work to pay your tuition fees. You are supposed to come with your tuition, then work to pay rent, food, transportation, etc. 3. Everything else said in the video is correct and expected. You can expect sukuma week in Canada unless an African store or a friend brings them to Canada. When buses are full, it's understandable that you can't get in, and buses ran on schedule. So, that being said, if you get an opportunity to study in Canada, come. Indians and Chinese know that there is an opportunity here, and they flooded Canada from coast to coast to coast!
Windsor is one of the warmest cities in Ontario and Canada. Exactly what she said. Plus, It's about HALF the price of Vancouver. You can't compare the two. Canada isn't a good place to live anymore. Stop pretending lol The Canadian dream died a decade ago.
@@BluntsaggieTarot Listen to the video and come back commenting. She said "Windsor is the warmest City in Canada". I said NO, it's not. And if you say Canada is not a good place, go to the US or France and tell me I'm wrong.

Honestly best advice is to just go back to Kenya and end the suffering living pay check to pay check. I got my citizenship and now im heading back to Africa
I believe some of those ads were not government sponsored, but sponsored by those with anti immigration in mind. They want to cause chaos and anger, not only from canadians born here and unable to find housing and work, but from those like yourself who misunderstood that the study visa in Canada doesn't automatically grant you citizenship, just the ability to say you have a canadian degree. Fact is, there are so many other requirements because canada IS INDEED a desirable place to live. It causes competition. With the right degree, like healthcare you would have an easier pathway because those skills are needed. I am also in windsor, my kids, born here struggled to find jobs too unfortunately. Its never been this bad, the job market is awful. I really hope you find your pathway and can stay to make a good life. Just some bumps in the road, you shine bright. Don't give up!! 💪

Canada used to be desirable, now it’s a mess and will get worse before it gets better. It’s still a naturally beautiful country, just the quality of life is being degraded. Which course did you do? It seems like you didn't have enough information on how to transition from a student to PR. The other option would have been to do a PSW course so you can get work under the healthcare stream on Express entry, move to another province, or learn french. To those coming as students next year, please check the list of occupations which will get you a pgwp because rules have changed and some courses won't be eligible for a pgwp. All the best with your PR journey, and please apply to restore your status and get that visitor record. I know you can't work at the moment, but things will work put for you.❤
@jackie_wafula How long have you been studying french? Since you got a high score, I would suggest you sign up for the TCF/TEF exam soon. You just need at least five extra points to get ITA. With your current score you would have gotten one, but IRCC hasn't conducted the draws. Either way, you will get one within the next 6 months. Once you get the ITA and submit your application, wait till you get the AOR and apply for a bridging work permit as they process your file. Confirm if you're eligible for it before applying. Bonne Chance!
After school you could apply for PR. Depends on the course you do and the school and Province you are in you can file for PR after school while working for the three years.
@jackie_wafula OK. I've been doing a lot of research, and that's how I know. There are youtube videos with people sharing their stories. Even after a 1 yr masters I saw where people got PR in six months. The program and the province are important. Do some research and all the best!
@jackie_wafula what province are you in? How come you didn't apply for the PR while you had the work permit, you should be eligible as you studied in Canada

@@jackie_Inspire I see, that's unfortunate, you should speak with an immigration consultant and also go through the cic site, there has to be some stream (maybe even provincial) you could use to apply with your experience and undergrad, but hang in there. Under normal circumstances PGDW cannot be extended, now couple provinces have a program that can extend PGWP but as far as I know it is only for Alberta and Manitoba residents
Well hello there, thank you for sharing your story. What i can advice you is to persist on content creation, the 6 months, show us content about Canada and what not to build your subscription count. But don't give up girl
I’m sorry this is happening to you but I think you didn’t do your due diligence! You should have researched on what you needed to do in order to apply for PR. For example, the PGWP cannot be extended, why were you waiting to renew it? Also, why did you need your employer to sponsor you, wasn’t your job a full time job with a noc code that would qualify you under Canadian express class or even provincial nominee class? Also, why were you stuck in a job for 3 years knowing fully well that this employer wasn’t going to sponsor you! I am sorry if I sound harsh or judgmental but it breaks my heart when I see international students from Africa make these mistakes after spending so much money studying here and I see this a lot from from East Africans. I pray God makes a way for you!
Ask yourself why she is sharing this information now. She has made it and plus she is now doing well. 2017 to 2024? Its a matter of patience and adjusting. Things do not happen automatically.
If you're on a PGWP, try to apply for your PR within the first 2 years of your PGWP. I know Alberta requires only 6 months of full time work from PGWP holders to apply for PR. Pushing it until your PGWP expires is very risky.
Hi. Was planning on coming tgis September for school but there rejected my visa application. I was thinking about trying again not too long from now. But im not sure. Canada that seemed to be the safest and mist guaranteed option is looking more risky. I have a question tho. Why didn't you apply for PR immediately after a year or at most two of working. I heard you don't have to spend tte entire 3 years before you apply. This is coming from someone whos second guessing Canada
hi pls watch my most recent video. I explained why this happened to me. And do not give up on your canadian dream, just plan better and do research and you will be fine. You can use an immigration consultant if you want. But now rules have changed and its not the same as it was back in 2017
"Canada will humble you" - A true statement. Sometimes in Canada, you work so hard and still end up with nothing in your pocket. It's a rat race. We all just have to be a little bit smarter.
Interesting account dear, but please note that others outside Kenya are trying to understand you fully, so if you can please reduce the usage of the dialect, it will be ok. Thanks
Swahili is not only spoken in Kenya. It would have been better if you said she should include subtitles. You have no right to tell ppl not to speak their language.
I would recommend going back as soon as possible if you are 'out of status' for two reasons 1. Possible enforcement action by CBSA if they start. 2. It could affect future opportunities to come to Canada as there is a section that states whether the applicant violated any conditions on their past admissions or the IRPA Regardless, I wish you the best of luck in your immigration journey.
Try to see if you can get hired as a home support worker (health care assistant), construction worker or nanny. Those are some of the jobs that are in desperate need of workers in Canada and the focus of targeted immigration. I know you said your work permit has expired but I'm thinking there must be a way to get a work permit if one of the employers in these areas is willing to offer you such a job either in Windsor or another community. There are even some Canadian headhunters that have jobs to fill and you can find work through them (you could ask about the work permit issue). You don't have to stay in these jobs forever but to help you get on your feet and figure out next steps. Also as someone else suggested, you should find someone to share costs with even if the situation is not ideal it is temporary to help through the initial challenges. All the best.
@@jackie_Inspire if you entered Canada in 2017, it means you're almost about 7 years in the country. Was that not more than enough time to be at least a Permanent Resident yet?

You cannot say you have nothing! You got an education that hopefully helps you get a good job in your country. Good luck!

@WILMA_ Home for me is where I am happy. I was living in Mexico for a year. Now, I am moving to Portugal. Indian friend here,
I know its difficult to get PR and its sad when you have given some 6-7 years of your life to this country.
Even many of my friends are learning french at this point and i know, its difficult and unrealistic but at this point seeing all the changes in rules and job opportunities, having french would be considered an asset in coming years.
also it boosts the CRS by 60 points if a person manages to get CLB 7 in both English and French.
Also, francophone mobility work permit is another option ig.
this might sound unrealistic but i would say if anyone is in beginning of their work permit and is looking for PR, please do your research, check which skill trade suits you the best and what are your best options
Be strong mentally, PR isn’t a piece of cake anymore.
Our 20s are the best years of our life, and let’s not regret any work we have done so far.
Canada definitely is humbling and after spending thousands of dollars and seeing all the hate around for us , the immigrants, it hurts.
@@di45adya thank you so much for encouraging me and understanding my situation. It’s not easy out here.
😊

This was eye opening. As a Canadian with an anti immigration sentiment I never thought of people like you who have been working so hard all of these years to just have to leave. I don’t think this is what Canadians wanted. Some bad apples have ruined it for all and that’s a shame. I hope you get your PR. @@beatricedevarenne2621where did you live now?

As a dual citizen of Canada and Kenya who has resided in Canada for 35 years, I am strongly supportive of your success.

God will make a way my dear. Even if you go home you will shine
If you're on a PGWP, try to apply for your PR within the first 2 years of your PGWP. I know Alberta requires only 6 months of full time work from PGWP holders to apply for PR. Pushing it until your PGWP expires is very risky.
Nice story....I wish you well dear
@@efyalove2033 thank you ☺️
I have been telling people ...who say if I know and help people why am I here in Ghana ...I always tell them knowing more make u relax about things..😊
Like they don't understand why you're still in Ghana but have loads of info about Canada?
Thanks for your authenticity....all the best

They don't limit hours you working Canada?.I studied in UK as an international student cannot work more than 20hrs per week during term time
@@jaxthe1andonly they do limit. My third job was a cash job. So technically I worked more than 20 hours coz I needed to make more money to pay tuition

Interesting account dear, but please note that others outside Kenya are trying to understand you fully, so if you can please reduce the usage of the dialect, it will be ok. Thanks
Nah Swahili is awesome 🤣
Indeed it is, but I don't understand
Swahili is not only spoken in Kenya. It would have been better if you said she should include subtitles. You have no right to tell ppl not to speak their language.
@@JosephineEze79 yes, i also don't understand indians on UA-cam telling their stories, its better to request her to put subtitles
That's the problem with most Kenyan UA-camrs they were only address Kenyans
I would recommend going back as soon as possible if you are 'out of status' for two reasons
1. Possible enforcement action by CBSA if they start.
2. It could affect future opportunities to come to Canada as there is a section that states whether the applicant violated any conditions on their past admissions or the IRPA
Regardless, I wish you the best of luck in your immigration journey.
@@christophermaduka4815 thank you, I’m trying to seek other options as soon as possible. I
As a Kenyan, this happened to me too.
You've overcome it now, right?
That's resilience.

@@joyful8072 Canada does not offer LMIA anymore. Especially now that I’m not of status my chances are slim
@@jackie_Inspire Pity.
@@jackie_Inspire if you entered Canada in 2017, it means you're almost about 7 years in the country. Was that not more than enough time to be at least a Permanent Resident yet?

Elaborate how we should researc
Canada does not have the same opportunities it did decades ago
Your best bet is to either decide to fight and stay or go back home
