I just tried this today. Picked up Colgate toothpaste with peroxide and baking soda, at the dollar tree. Scrubbed it all over my Corollas headlights with a tooth brush. And they're a lot more clear now + took out most of the yellowing. Thank you!
This may sound funny but to keep them clear and keep them looking great for much longer avoid parking facing the sun. It's the sun that oxidizes them. So, when you are out and about, park in the shade or a garage or just not front facing the sun in a parking lot or work. It will save them from getting hazy for much longer.

My headlights literally look so beautiful 😭! Thank youuu!¡!! My toothpaste didn't have any grit to it so I sprinkled baking soda on it to help agitate. Came out like yours!! 🥲👍🏽

Thanks very much for the info Chris. This worked better then I expected and took me 5 minutes to do both headlamps. I added baking soda to toothpaste since the paste wasn't very gritty. I have a 20 year old car and it has sat for years directly in the sun. It is only the driver side that gets sunlight, so it was really foggy (they don't test for headlamps in DMV anymore, so it was never an issue for inspection). But someone at work mentioned it (I barely noticed). It looks brand new. I will have to do it again once I get the clear coat spray (I am not sure I am going to bother with the other method using sand paper)
The shop wants to charge me $200 to clean my headlights so I'm going to try this for starters. Even if you have to repeat it every year or 4 months it's worth it!

Yeah, me too. It shouldn't be that funny, but is.
Great work ! Thanks to you I changed the entire front suspension on my 2008 malibu. Thanks Chris!
Works great. It cleared the fog from the headlight cover, no need to spend x amount on a professional kit. Thanks Chris, you are awesome!
LMAO, the dental floss thing was actually really funny
Leonardo Aldecocea haha, glad you got a kick out of it!
LMAO!! I thought that was funny as well!!
Dang! My headlights came out looking so good that i did all my other lights. Headlights, running lights, fog lights, taillights, and added reverse lights. I scrubbed with colgate, then added regular shaving cream to brush on top of the toothpaste, then wiped down with windex, and finally wiped on some spray wax. They came out great! Thanks 👍✌
You forgot mouthwash
I can confirm this actually works and works well too! Thanks Bud
this is the easiest way to restore headlight. thanks a lot bro
Haha I saw the floss and said really.... you got me.
I was like "But what the hell!" LOL. I love youtube. All the clowns are here!
ladyamba1 your cool and pretty
I saw a video the other day where the guy rubbed his lights with 8000 grit wet sandpaper and then sprayed them with a clear coat. The result was super impressive.
There was another video said the clear coat will distort the view at night. I am not sure what's right.
1 dollar for Colgate toothpaste. Shit I am moving to the states. Cheaper in Australia to buy the restoration kit.
So true!
Damn Australia gives zero fcks about dental hygiene. Guess I take it for granted 😂😉
Lmao
Are you guys serious?!?!?
Toothpaste is sold everywhere here for $1 how much is it elsewhere?
live and let live .89 cents in Slovakia.. LOL
Worked well for me. I also used a dishwasher tablet. It's gritty and has cleaning products in built. Fabulous result😊
Since finding your channel I've saved hundreds on simple things I can do at home such as this. Thanks Chris fix
P.S I'm telling everyone I know about your vids and how great they are👍🏻
This was very helpfull, thanks.
Glad the video was helpful!
ChrisFix
Johan Lebbing did u try ???
Did you try wax?
The shop wants to charge me $200 to clean my headlights so I'm going to try this for starters. Even if you have to repeat it every year or 4 months it's worth it!
U got me with the floss. 😁 I was like what he bout to do with the floss?
Me too...lol
Quality dentistry joke 👌
Me too girl
Diamond and Glitter Princess same haha
Diamond and Glitter Princess wys!!
Crisfix is officially my favorite car channel. Dude the detail and work u put into these are amazing. I just did the headlight restoration on the bummer and they look great but it did start to drizzle. See what they look like when dry. Either way you are representing so man of us enthusiasts that don't have huge budgets. Hope you got to motorcycles a as well someday. Thanks for everything brother
ChrisFix in 2014: "I'm using a paper towel, a lot of pressure..."
ChrisFix in 2020: "DON'T use paper towels! I use this microfiber towel..."
The more you learn the more you see your paste mistakes
@@Longshlongjon22 I see what you did there
Chriss is good man forget yoy
Thanks Chris, I seriously doubted how this would work but gave it a go, Wow the advice worked so well, the warm water was the key getting off the well scrubbed toothpaste mixture and buffing with paper towels then applied a wax then buffed that off for protection.
What type of wax did you use?
Wow! Took off 20 years of oxidation from my tail light on my motorcycle. Looks like new! Thank you
That's what you call "mint" condition😂😂
hahaha yessss!!!
omg i love this! LMAO
ChrisFix Wow this vid came out 5 years ago and you still reply to comments, this is madness
You get a silver sir!

I’m glad you’re learning a lot!
Yes thank you!
Wow! This method worked better than any of the so called "headlight restorer" kits that I purchased before. My headlights look like new. Thank you Chris! My only question is how often should I redo this?
Every night before bed !
Organised and concise tutorial. Experienced and effective teacher!
I did this just now bec.of me watching a video hack..so glad I did it..and now I have a sparkling and clear headlights thanks so much🤗❤️

@@davidshepherd5068 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Sweetness, that was cool Chris, good tip for folks on a budget. Thanks for another great video. I might copy you on this one lol
Thanks a lot!
When he said dental floss I was like, duh fuk 😅
Hey Chris. I tried this, but also used a vinegar and water solution, and it worked. My headlights look almost new. Thank you so much, I just go back from inspection and for a change no problem with the lights. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🥃🥃🥃
I literally LOL when you brought out the floss. Well done! 👍
Yes it really does work, thanks for the info !!!
Heck yeah, this was VERY informative. I'm definitely gonna try it tomorrow, (5-18-18). Thanks for sharing this technique!
Good luck! The more you buff and the more coats you do the more clear it gets!
Soo........how was it ?
@@WOLFY-tl7cu Oh dang, Wolfy, I never did get back here, did I? It worked FABULOUS, and I've even done it another time since then. Hope you tried it 'cause it works!
This is great method my friend .... uve actually used toothpaste to clean my jewelry ... very powerful
i like the fact that you sometimes use no power tools when not a lot of people have them..
