"I'm G-ing of you G don't take my A minor... For 4 bars" Almost like these lyrics as much as the original. Great lessons, incredible helpful for figuring out songs I always wanted to play. Keep it up!
One of the best things about Justin's lessons are the multiple skill levels he teaches to. As a beginner, I learned the chords and now returning to the video 2 1/2 years later while following his fingerstyle module, I am starting to be able to play it more authentically Thanks Justin and Happy New Year!
I have loved this song from the first time I heard it in 1973 when it was definitely not cool to be liking country in this era of british rock but a great song is a great song at anytime and this is my way into playing it. Thanks Justin.
long acrylics? what are you saying? She played guitar on the song? She sang it ,that is it Session guys played the guitars on the track. 2 gutarists. You can find their names here on you tube, they were big time names.
She didn’t play the finger picking riff. In fact, I don’t think she played guitar on the recording at all, and live she just strums basic chords. Session guitarists (Wayne Moss and I forget who else) recorded the guitar parts.
I don't consider myself a great guitarist but my confidence goes up when I'm able to learn this in a couple of days. Especially when people in the comments say this piece is hard to learn and things like that, because it is complicated.
Excellent Justin. Thanks. Have been struggling with this since AGM published Jolene two months ago. Great song for beginners who wish to sing as well as play. Tempo is my challenge for finger style. Own 3 of Justin's song books, two theory downloads and recently made a small donation. Would recommend to all that follow Justin's lessons to contribute what you can or acquire a book to help him keep the lessons coming!
I like the way you show different levels of playing the song that one could work up to. Excellent approach and I'm having lots of fun learning this as my first song!! Thank you :)
OmShantiShanti496 teaching is a total different job than playing. This guy really shows how to teach! Thanks Justin, it is one of my favourite guitar songs which as a beginner I can play strumming. Now the finger picking! Great way your step up by step up expanation!
I hadnt heard this since i was a little kid and before i started playing guitar so when i listened to it recently i was amazed at how cool the guitar part was. Not usually my style but its sounds great will definitely be the next song i learn.
Fantastic! I’ve been looking for a breakdown of that riff for years. Ever since I heard the cleaner remix she made in late 80’s. Much gratitude to you!
Great tutorial, thanks Justin. Sounds such a simple song when strumming chords, then you get into the fingerpicking and it’s so much more complex than I ever thought. After hours of struggle I can play that riff at about 1/4 speed, and as soon as I start thinking about it I go wrong! And you sing at the same time...amazing
I've been watching Justin for years and I've only just worked out that the tattoo on his left arm is a broken arrow. Peace be upon you Justin. Another killer lesson.
you are amazing Justin - easily the best guitar teacher out there. I've tried learning this riff so many times and this time (with you help) I reckon I' ve cracked it. Thank you
I am 51 years old and returning to the guitar after 30+ years. Somehow I still know the Travis pick pattern used here and I am still rather fast with it ( from several years of playing Freight Train and Dust in the Wind ). But my left-hand finger tips still need to get hard because I get grooves indented from holding the strings so when I lift off that A minor chord I pluck all the strings with the grooves. Also the hammer-on is mushy sounding. But the pattern and timing, probably the most crucial parts, came to me quite easily.
I can do 80% after three days of practicing. It's really worth taking the effort as so far I pretty much strummed through all my songs and this will definitely bring some nice variation. Thanks for this clip!
Thank you for recommending and the support. Cheers 😊 | close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide [ www.justinguitar.com/ ] & Moderator on JustinGuitar Forum
I have an upcoming gig with a Dolly simulator here in Vegas, I wanted to get up to speed on this song and you saved me some time! Thanks! There’s a book for the show, but it’s risky relying on what some arranger (who’s probably not a guitar player) writes down…usually will be horribly flawed! And then having to sight read a wrong part can be a humiliating experience! Thanks again!
I'm really new to guitar (self taught in piano) and I wanted to know how to play this song for so long! Maybe not a beginner song, but I'll try! My mom introduced me to you and so far I'm loving your videos!
Either you are a genius, or you have the patience of a saint. Or both. Eitjer way, I woud have never been able to play such a thing without your help, thank you teacher.
Great thanks for this transcription and your demonstration, so clear, of this marvellous guitar playing which I find kind of tricky. I do appreciate too the sincerity of your voice. You sure 've got a feeling of everything you play and sing. Greatings from Brittany, France. And please excuse the approximation of my english.
Great job, thank you! I was really struggling to see what I was dong wrong after learning the four parts of the intro separately but your transition from slow to fast allowed me to finally get the correct rhythm.
Hey Justin.. I have been following you for an year now and whatever I have learned on the guitar is from you for that I thank you graciously (Youre My Guru!! :)).. You are awesome.. Im a big fan all the way from Pakistan man.. would it be possible if you could one video on a Pakistani song??? It would just blow my mind.. Thank you so much for your teachings..
I had been playin this with an e minor rather than a double run on g,finger pickin it,sounds ok my way but its another that i have had wrong for years.thanks for the correction ,and a slight change to the pickin.cheers ears.
I find that when fingerpicking the intro/chorus riff, it sounds good to alternate between the A and E string for the bass notes - ie, hitting each one once per measure, instead of hitting the A twice.
Justin, just love you for your positiveness and your great skills to transport music and to explain it. You are almost always my first choice when I am interested in a song. Great picking pattern for Jolene. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the great lesson! I’m playing more fingerstyle these days, and really love the challenge and how nice the songs sound. Do you have a tutorial for Classical Gas? I know part of it, but never got through the whole song.
