Have you tried these? Thoughts?
I have and I love the new products from Daiya. Mac and cheese to enchiladas to breakfast sandwiches and grilled cheese.
I tried cheddar, i feel it is the best version so far.
I'm trying the slices now in grilled cheese as inspired by your video and I'm impressed! They're great!
Used mozz for pizza,,, Mexican for tacos,,and American slice cheese for grilled cheese💥💥💥👍
I’d like to add that I LOVE LARISSA’S haircut! ❤
The podcast portion of the video is nice because I like to hear y’all thoughts overall❤
I'd 💯 % listen to pod casts and I do love long videos 😊❤
Great channel!I was wondering can you both do a side by side comparison of Violife cheese and Miyoko cheese 😊. Both your vibes 👌🏽
I agree that the restaurant have to be very careful of making sure it IS dairy-free because of the people who experience a health risk eating dairy products.......i just gotta belive that.
Thanks for the insights you guys. ❤
I feel pretty confident that a restaurant would not intentionally give me dairy cheese just to save money because if someone had an allergic reaction they would be in huge trouble.
Love you both, glad you have a podcast!
Thanks so much for making these taste test/ reaction/ chatty “podcast” videos! They’ve been super helpful when deciding what to buy❤
what I want is a company that makes a decent vegan cheese that does not use oil, more specifically, coconut oil. I thought this might be it, but apparently not. IMHO coconut oil has replace the other SAD processed oils: soybean, and the generic vegetable oil. Coconut oil was so marketed as a healthy oil when it first arrived on the scene, and it is def not. Very saturated fat without much benefit. This is from "Harvard Health"
Coconut oil is about 90% saturated fat, which is a higher percentage than butter (about 64% saturated fat), beef fat (40%), or even lard (also 40%). Too much saturated fat in the diet is unhealthy because it raises "bad" LDL cholesterol levels, which increases the risk of heart disease.
Unfortunately - many use oil for the texture replication. Good Planet makes an olive oil one - we just did a video on that a few weeks ago. Maybe look at that ?
Canola oil has the best omega 3 to omega 6 ratio. It is my favorite from a health perspective & it’s so versatile!
Coconut oil is saturated fat, but it's polyunsaturated fat. Coconut oil has MCT oil as a byproduct which is a fast digesting oil that doesn't stay in the body. It burns fast for energy.
I have read you should avoid tropical oils.
@@karenlindstrom8266 processed oils are high in calories (generally 180 cal per Tablespoon and low in nutrients. So if we're cooking with them a lot, using them in sauces a lot, frying in them, that adds up to a lot of empty calories. We need fat for sure, but many of us prefer a truly healthy source: avocados, tahini, nuts & nut butters, chia/flax/hemp seeds to name some.
Thank you for doing these taste tests. I soo appreciate it ❤
You're so welcome
Love this and all y'all do to keep us fellow Vegans up to date on products. Also love the podcast idea for a more long form version. Obvi you can record that too for your UA-cam. You might be able to get some other vegan creators on to talk about it
You guys are hilarious and I don't really listen to podcasts but I would listen to you to 😂
Love Larisha's glasses; very 1980s secretary-who-runs-the-whole-office vibes! Because this is Daiya, I was filled with concern for you . . . and at 16:37, I was sure that my concern was warranted, but by some miracle, Daiya seems to be focusing on the aftertaste issue after _a couple of decades_ of people complaining about it! Maybe now they can focus on the taste issue, and finally fix their baby snot shreds, ha! Thanks for the taste test and for posting 🙂
I agree so much with having concern over vegan items being made with the new non-animal-derived formulas or whatever else. I have a bovine protein allergy, so I can’t have vegan whey, and it’s so incredibly frustrating. I’m so glad other folks have those options, though - truly! I’m definitely jealous!
Good Morning! I’m so happy to see this post, though I am just starting it. Thanks for all you do! I’ve been vegan since I was 16 and I just turned 52, and all of these new products are great and sometimes amazing and Sprouts had these on sale for their Buy One Get One Free deals so I did it.
To be honest, while eating it, I wished I had made Nutritional Yeast cheese from scratch. I felt that their cheese was a little rubbery and although I bought the Mexican flavor I felt I couldn’t taste it at all. Sorry for being a bummer on this product. Thank you both, for all that you share ❤
Min 1:22 yes you made sense boo❤
Yay I look forward to Thursdays again woohoo
This is the only brand I can find when I go to Market Basket. I like the new blend better and have found an improvement. I enjoy these videos. You have helped me a lot for someone who cannot have dairy. Thank you.
My town has hardly any vegan options for dairy! It would be nice to have more choices. Love your taste tests.
I’m really liking the new Good Planet olive oil based cheese that you recently reviewed. I used the Mexican shreds in Sweet Simple Vegan’s recipe for one pot hamburger helper, and it made a tasty chili mac.
I love the new Daiya , my favorite is the smoked gouda , it tastes like a smokey mozz and love the cheddar , I make awesome grilled cheeze with it.
Always appreciate your open/honest reviews.
I was wondering if you have perfected an oil-free, nut free (potato nooch) cheese sauce that is good for nachos when it's fresh. Ideally, these can be partially frozen and then grated into shreds. The one i made had way too much lemon juice, so i threw it in the freezer and haven't returned to it. 😂 I would love a good recipe for this tho! Then, it can be edited to add spice for some occasions.
Yes podcast
i really enjoyed the credo queso. it’s a cashew cheese … very good. used it on my nachos
The smoked Gouda slices really surprised me. It melted really well and the taste was phenomenal
Still said we didn't find that one
Daiya haul, all the recipes you can make 😮😊
I didn't clean to this one, but this would have been a pretty good "hang out" and clean! My Veganuary was mostly a success, but i stink at planning so I'm going forward as plant-based until i get a better routine in hand. Love your reviews of things.
The Jalapeño and Smoked Gouda are my favorite!!
Nice!
Good morning guys ❤
Daiya is my favorite, for now. I haven’t tried the Kraft. I like the Swiss slices and the cheddar slices. The cheddar sticks had NO flavor, very disappointing. The cheddar block was very good and tasted like cheddar. I stopped getting the shredded cheese because it didn’t melt well but haven’t tried the new ones.
I really don’t use much cheese, since I became vegan ( 7 1/2 yrs ago) because I got use to not having t. My trying the cheese is over that period of time. I haven’t eaten any for a few months.
Thanks for your video ❤️
Great video! If you had to compare it to Kraft not, how do you feel?
It hasn’t been long since I had a Mexican blend. I’ve never had one that had seasoning. It was just a blend of cheeses. But thanks so much - I love watching all of your taste tests!
Like someone else said, I wish they didn’t rely so heavily on oil. And I hate that they can’t find a way to get protein in them. Same with yogurt.
I really like this new formula. It is moving in the right direction. But I to want less oil
The oat cream is good I like it a lot
Aldi actually, does sale a Mexican blend of cheeses with taco seasoning. I know because I actively avoid purchasing it. LOL 😂 I got it once before at Aldi, and I was shocked. 👀🤷♀️
I love this video. The stickiness of the melted cheese on my teeth is what bothers me. I have found in place of string cheese Babybel makes a pretty good snack cheese for on the go.
For a fast pizza, use pita, sauce and then these shreds from daiya on the air fry setting for 4-5 min. So fast and easy!
They probably feel pressure from Violife... I'm a huge violife fan. also, I have been waiting for a perfect swiss cheese... I hope Daiya's is as good as you said!
🤤🤤I’m thinking about trying this, because I’m lactose intolerant. I miss having Mac n cheese, or sliders. I have limited cooking skills, so pray for me🤞🏾🤞🏾
I actually just picked up the diaya Swiss slices we'll see how that is
38:05 😂😂😂 I peeped that from Daiya! That's why I only buy Cheddar and Mozz ...and if I need Mex, I'll mix them and add smoked paprika/cumin to them..same for Italian...add Italian seasoning😊 etc etc 🤓👩🏾🍳
Would you have a link for that Sweatshirt? ♡
I just bought the oat cream cheddar block and haven’t opened it yet. I buy Violife slices. It is rare I buy shreds because I typically shred the block myself.
Costco has two new Miyokos products! One is a spreadable cheddar that'd id love to see reviewed!
Is it oil free? We need more oil free vegan cheeses. Oil has too much calories
@@jackiesibblis3793Some oils like extra virgin olive oil, unrefined avocado oil, unrefined coconut oil and unrefined red palm oil are good for your health.
I have a suggestion! Try out the gluten free dairy free and vegan friendly oreos they are very good! Give them a try
We like them
Ok tasted the Swiss raw,, no Swiss flavor for me..tastes fine, still prefer vio life's cheeses😊
I miss pepper jack cheese. Follow your heart had a delicious one but I can’t find it anymore
I like the cutting board shreds version (last version) better ingredients for me. This version does look more cheese like on pizza🤷♀️
Daiya ever since they were acquired by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. (which conducts animal testing) have been more accurately re-categorized as "plant based" not vegan.
Though IMHO, even before the acquisition they weren't very good. They definitely have widespread distribution though.
Just wanted you to know, STOP & SHOP always has the Daiya Monterey Jack, but I was truthfully looking for the vegan cheese sticks or string cheese and can't find them there. Daiya should swap places with those, so you can have the Monterey and I could have the sticks. Whatever, my favorite vegan cheese is CHAO by Field Roast at S & S and WALMART. I even eat that Chao slices PLAIN! So yummy!
@jessbennett828 I find the frozen Chao vegan Mac and cheese to taste nothing but salty. I am not willing to try Chao's vegan cheese slices at all since they are going to taste nothing but salty to me.
@brittanydaniels1102 Huh, well, I guess my special spice and drink powder that I have every day, with andrographis and milk thistle, must make it taste less salty to me. All I am saying is that the cheese I had before going vegan tastes exactly like CHAO. My brother is not willing to eat vegan food at all, but agreed to try one slice. He admitted that he would not have known that it was not real cheese if I didn't tell him.
I normally pass on Daiya but I’ll give it another try 😊
Same, I’m skeptical but because of them I may try again too. Let me know how you liked it
@@TheDjGrateful It was disappointing yet again. I tried the "cheddar shreds" and didn't enjoy it at all. My taste buds just can't seem to appreciate the flavor. I'll stick with Miyokos instead 😅 you might like it though 🤷🏽♀️
@@UpRyzeQueenthat’s unfortunate. I let you know what I think when I try it again
@@UpRyzeQueen I had the daiya cheddar & mozzarella on a bagel pizza & I thought it was good 🤷🏿♂️
@@TheDjGrateful nice! I think my taste buds are still recovering from having it too often in the past 😂
Any luck getting some Funky Mello to try?
In regards to the Vegan Cheese sticks tasting the same whether Cheddar or Mozzarella….the same hold true for regular cheese strings…I think it says 100% cheese Cheddar flavoured or something like that. Basically the only difference is orange vs yellow lol. Just like those cheap cheese blocks that is not real cheddar cheese anyway
in your opinion which vegan cheese brand is the best? I have tried some that literally make me gag.
i remember daiya cheese stick i had it before is not my favorite the texture its alright
Bro Daiya made a new oat cheese mac and cheese and it was at my grocery store once and I was never able to buy it again. I really wish they’d bring it back because why does no one know about it??? The new one was 1000% better than the other ones
dang!
Daiya was my go to (because of availability)until this new blend. I have an oat allergy. Now I have to find another brand.
Oh no! That’s sucks. 🙁
I really like Violife and Follow Your Heart; maybe those will work for you?
I am sad. The new formulations all have inverted sugar in them. I loved the smoked Gouda version without the inverted sugar.
Shred your own cheese from blocks otherwise the anti caking agent in shredded cheese will change the texture significantly
yes it can
Is the cheese labeled as gluten free? Oats are often contaminated in the processing, so it has to be certified gluten free
At about 34:00 she says it’s labeled certified gluten free.
I think I’m the only one that pronounces it “dye-yah”
No, I do too. I think it comes from my Spanish language knowledge (even though this isn’t Spanish). 😂
So how did you know I was cleaning my kitchen??? Hahaha. And ya'all should be apart of Daiya to give much needed feedback. Oh, just make both of you CEO :)
I’m the person that was cleaning 😂
A million years ago when I first tried being vegan Daiya was like one if not the only company out there making dairy free cheese. At least without any cassin in it. It tasted gross from my memory and turned me off of other ‘cheese’ for a minute. You’ve showed us that there are still better companies out there making better quality products. This will be a hard pass for me. Keeps the reviews coming.
Did you two have a fight or break up or something? Dude does not look like he wants to be there.
It's sooooo much better tasting and melting it's ridiculous
yes!
I tried the DAIYA strawberry cream cheese, that I'd bought at the store accidentally, not knowing it was plant based. If cream cheese had a soul, this would be like ripping the soul out of a food. I threw it away after one bite. Terrible stuff!
Oh gosh LOL.
I've never understood how Daiya stays in business. I've bought every version and thrown out every single almost-full package. 🤮
I guess it's a taste bud thing, like some people with cilantro.
Restaurants have young people who probably don't have a care
Thanks for the reviews. Old boy has a tude towards the wife though.🙄
The man is trying to express himself probably in a slower, thoughtful way, but he keeps getting cut off by the lady, so he looks pressured to express on her terms. The lady is managing the conversation like a corporate manager. Also body language wise, her intrusive body language where she is throwing the cheese bags etc across to his space, gesturing her hands across to his personal space, it feels uncomfortable to watch. It ends up being on one person’s superficial terms instead of in harmony. He looks resigned and annoyed sometimes. Reminds me of dynamics like with a boss or manager where I am trying to say the “right things” and hiding who I really am. His body language looks like he’s leaning away from her in a defensive way to protect himself
At the end, she says she will give her opinions and he can agree, disagree, or add his own- the way she talks is like she is the boss and he is the subordinate. Then she says ok you say your opinions and I’ll go on my phone - it signals that she’s not listening because his opinions are not important. Just looks disrespectful.
You got all that from one video huh? Good thing that's not what is happening AT ALL
I hate thoe "goeyness" of this cheese yuk
These cheeses all have “natural flavors.” that is a very very bad thing.
