  • There are complexities and wonderment in life we simply cannot explain. When we look to science and religion, we can't always find the answers. Have you ever experienced deja-vu, coincidences, or dreams that may have seemed real? Have you ever wondered what exactly qualifies as human consciousness? Reality vs. Abstract? So have we. Jeffrey will join us this November in a discussion to explore these and more paradoxical ways of thinking.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

What are the comments about here - were they even listening? Kripal is proposing a pioneering way of incorporating the paranormal into our model of reality - which is very overdue. Any model of reality that does not encompass these experiences is flawed, you cannot hold to a paradigm that simply denies human experience in order for it to work. Keep up the good work Mr Kripal!

lmao it's because the paranormal isn't real. Why incorporate something into our model of reality that simply isn't real? xD

@@RiversEagle_ While you were busy laughing your **** off, the world moved on. Experiences of the paranormal are ubiquitous in human culture and the paranormal is only the paranormal because it lies outside our current consensus reality. Doesn’t mean it has to stay there, or that eventually it will be understood enough to be brought into our reality in a way that is coherent and consistent. The problem with blind denial is it closes an intellectual door that should remain open. It’s just plain lazy.

Kripal is amazing! I've watched him in several videos w/ Jeffrey Mishlove on New Thinking Allowed. He knows Whitley Strieber quite well & says the man is far more than a fringe writer of ET oddities. Don't miss his interviews about his work w/ Elizabeth Krohn's near-death experience after being struck by lightning. Changed In a Flash is co-authored w/ Krohn & Kripal. E. Krohn is also interviewed about her co-authored book on UTube.

I used to consider Jeffrey had some real, important insights into
the Paranormal UNTIL he hooked up with the completely deluded
      Whitley Strieber.

@@2msvalkyrie529 You really must watch Kripal's interview w/ Mishlove about Strieber. I have to agree w/ Kripal's description of Whitley as a shaman. He has had some terrible things done to him, not just by ETs. Gov't agents tortured him & other children as part of mind control research project called MK Ultra, if I recall correctly, which led to the death of several though Whitley survived. I would go as far to say he's probably as gifted in many ways like Mishlove's Ted Owens, the PK Man. Don't write them off quite yet until you do some investigating.

Love the idea that there's something "more" going on than our humanly limited eyes & ears can see, and our barely out-of-the-Dark-Ages science can understand. I'd love more research on this, although to get MORE research money from donors, the lectures & books need to be clear, understandable, battle-readied with some sort of better lecture training & multiple editors for punchiness, clarity & meaningfullness. Kripal's lecture here was the most animated & clear I'd EVER seen him. ALL the other ones I'd seen on him, he's VERY monotone & will read the whole time from his writing which has a lot of meaningless verbiage that needs editing.

Are you serious? Kripal did an outstanding job of pointing out that paranormal is a misnomer at best & a terrible slighting of a widespread form of human experience. It was not so long ago that the ppl who were particularly gifted w/ "paranormal" abilities were burned at the stake or drowned as "witches." Today, they are celebrated in certain circles as proof of the reality of consciousness as the fundamental basis of human life, nay, ALL life.
