  • How to catch moles if they are causing a problem in your garden or lawn.
With moles being active all year, new runs and molehills literally pop up overnight.
This short video shows you how to find a suitable run and how to place the barrel trap with maximum effect. Even if you have never trapped moles before watching this should give enough guidance even for beginners.
These types of traps are widely available on the internet for a couple of pounds each, I recommend you buy 3 or 4 they should last for many years, but make sure you mark the position really well as the temptation is to use sticks or think you will remember where they went, most traps get lost not broken.
I checked the traps the following day and remove any dead moles. Continue to set the traps until no moles are being caught and no new hills appear.

just ordered these on line, and caught a mole within 24 hours! Great video, although at first I found it very hard to set the traps without them going off and taking my fingers off!

I'll give you a tip. Cut the hole the correct length of the trap. Tamp the run bottom with a T shaped tamper eg like a spade handle. push pieces of soil and roots along edge of trap firmly so it doesn't move easily, then finally , sprinkle 1/2 inch of loose soil over the top. Works for me.

That looks familiar! I think we have a small village of moles living in our front yard. Very annoying creatures! This sounds like something we should try. Best wishes from Tennessee.💕

Hardly ever use these Duffuss traps ad they take too long to set it.digging out an area for a big trap like this, and to mush. room error.puts a good hour onto days trapping.

While it may work, you have to dig it up to see check it. I prefer the Victor Out Sight trap which you can see from the top if it's sprung. I don't dig though, preferring the find the run with your tent stake method and push it down over the top of the run. That way, it stays completely dark where the jaws are with no digging. I know they work even though these may too. Just got a big o'le nasty one three days ago.

That's because he covered it over with a sod which is wrong, it prevents the mechanism from springing upwards and hides it from sight. You block off any large holes around the trap and sprinkle light crumbled soil over it. That way when you come back you can tell whether it's been triggered or not.

YOU HAVE TO BEND THE CENTRAL WIRES AND CLIP THE EXTRA LENGTH OFF THE TRIGGER TO TWEAK IT SO'S THEY GO OFF WITH THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH... OTHERWISE YOU CATCH ZILCH.

Agree, I think he’s a domestic opportunist who thinks he can catch a mole. I’m also a professional mole Catcher. The hole was far too big and the trap is just going to wobble about. As for putting the turf back, we’ll that kill loop is not going to spring up in a thousand years! 😂
