+Henry Bailey Yea that will be no problem. Most of mine are in with sheep at the moment and apart from them chewing the marker flags it's not a problem.
Some people want them burying out of sight. If I am confident that I don't need to reset the trap then it is just easier. If I feel there is a need to reset the trap then I dig another hole for the mole.
+Bradley Herrman Not sure which field you are talking about, but one mole makes a sh*t load of molehills. There is never as many as you at first think.
Hi m8,could you tell me what make your knee pads are, been moleing for about 3 months now and the ones I,ve bought are useless, and I,m no spring chicken, good Vidio and like you pattedale 👍
Thanks Goodfly,. We don't use them much anymore but the fur does make good dubbing for flys. Strange about the package, the lady said about 5 working days. Let me know when it comes.
Hi, I've used Victor traps for years but decided to try the tunnel traps. I purchased a couple and set as you instructed. My problem is that apparently they are digging under the trap and setting it off with dirt. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks
is there a way I can capture the mole without injuring it? We have a family of moles or something living under my porch and I want to get rid of them without harming them.
I've been struggling with my traps for weeks without any results. I also have trouble finding worms to lure and attract them. Is there anything else one can use instead of worms, and maggots?
+DasdeutschesBand You don't need any bait if you set your traps right. They are all run through traps, no need for bait. Hope this helps and follow my instructions for success.
Boy, that was fast : ) Well, I guess you're right, but I read more than once that it might help, and considering my lack of success... I'll go thru your instructions one more time. Thanks.
+DasdeutschesBand Imagine someone has to break into your house, set a trap you can't see or smell, and leave your house without a clue you have been there. You will then catch the mole....no problem
Its a little like a human can smell the scent of freshly cut grass, but not there mate stood next to them. If you notice, my hands are covered in soil, which masks my scent!!
Is this a year round thing or are the moles only active/trapped for a few months? Not sure if that's a daft question, just never really thought about moles.
Love your vids. I have been catching moles in my garden for the last few years. can I ask is there a specific reason for putting the captured mole back in the run? does that prevent other moles using the runs?
Thanks! I was doing it just to get rid of the mole. I only do this if I am pretty confident that there is no other mole using that network of runs. If there is, then I would simply reset the trap.
Yes, my lad shoots quite a few with his 20bore. He waits for the new molehills to move as the mole is making them, and then blasts the bottom of it. The pellets don't kill the moles, but the pressure shockwave does. Not practical for large numbers though.
nice video,.... love the dog too :-) my terrier goes with me on the mole jobs, what camera are you using to film it all great work on the filming too by the way.
Just started getting moles - little b*astards! So, is the scissor trap the most effective, given chemical/gas is not legally allowed? We want to try and do this ourselves before the last resort of calling someone in, so if you can give me your sound advice, it's off to eBay!
+Barney29508 I personally like the tunnel traps the best, but that is simply because you have the ability to catch 2 moles at a time, which doesn't necessarily mean you catch more moles, but it does mean less time spent in one spot. The traditional scissor trap is ok, but in my view has been superseded by superior traps, and if you want to go down the scissor trap route, then go for the "Talpax". They have much stronger springs and a wider gape. I think you can see these in use in my video "mole trapping with the boys" Chemicals can be used still, in the form of Aluminium Phosphide, but it is used under licence. Horrible stuff. Hope this helps and happy trapping.
+freedomofabird Yes the guy who came said that it was obnoxious stuff - can't use it within 1ft or so of your house or some such.I've bought 5 barrel traps off eBay for £13.90. I can't believe how cheap these things seem to be!I hope I'm a bit more successful than with the rabbit snares I bought one time - didn't catch a single one and they devoured all me lettuces! Shot the sod with my air rifle in the end which requires a lot of patience! Not much chance of that with moles though unless your name is Jasper Carrott!
+freedomofabird Me again!Just looking through your video again. Where are you situated?Looks very much like the Yorkshire Dales - I love it up there. We stay in Kirkby Lonsdale or Dent several times a year.
+Kane Wallace The terrier is 4 now. Its a rat dog really, but marks moles occasionally, like it will mark rats and rabbits, and occasionally it will even come back with one it has caught itself. At night usually.
Very interesting video. This species seems easier to catch than the one I'm familiar with - the Embi mole-rat. The Embi feeds strictly on roots therefore it burrows deeper in hard soil. It's also more cautious and cunning but still catchable.
I would have thought the eco hipster fluffy bunny crowd would have been all over this. Surprised they haven't struck in the ratings yet. Cool vid. Very informative.
Yes mate - very busy at the moment with new and existing customers. I love the stainless Flatpack barrels which are a pleasure to use. You doing plenty of moeling too?
Good well explained video mate, enjoyed that one, thanks for sharing, can you do some more long range 17 hmr videos also, after all spring is here lol.. ATB
My dog loves to catch moles. He's really good at catching them; except sometimes he brings them in the house. Saw him chewing on what I thought was a chew toy but then I took a closer look to find a dead, spit-soaked mole in his bed...
can't you find a method of catching them and transporting them somewhere else because i don't like the fact they have to die there just doing what there natural instinct is
I catch 1000's a year. If you want them, design a trap, pay for my time and delivery charges and you can have them. They are a pest so therefore you cannot relocate them, all land is owned by someone. Do you say the same to people spraying all the mosquitoes to prevent disease, or is that somehow different?
+freedomofabird I see your point I guess ,but people need to respect wildlife more is what I'm saying and there are ways of catching moles and relocating them that are affordable. Moles are pests to farmers they don't really affect me .
+Lilia lyod its my living, along with many others in the UK. Trust me there are no alternatives other than gassing them when working with 1000's of them. It is illegal to release pest species. Moles are no different to a mouse or rat or mosquito or crow or cockroach or maggot. They are just in the way of feeding the world. Everybody who eats is guilty of these animals death as the food is produced for everyone. What may make you happier is that I don't trap moles for fun, and I only trap them in those fields that farmers ask me to and that are important to the production of crops/grazing. Plenty have a happy life in the bottom of the hedgerows.
Lol was that mole in 6:11 still alive? Your dog malled it! Hilarious! And what did you do with it? Did you kill it!? And how please? Great video too btw!
+thedarknesscallingme They are already in the wild! All land is owned by someone and it would be illegal to release pest species onto someone else's land. Combine that with having to catch a few thousand of them every year and you will see the problem. If you want to do it though..... fill your boots and crack on.
Nice doggie! What's his name, Mole Killer? LOL Another way to control them, if this land is not being used to grow food, is to put down grub control. Moles go after grubs. Get rid of the grubs and the moles will go elsewhere. Worked great for me. I only had to treat my front yard once.
When you finish school and start to understand stuff then your opinion might be valid . Your splurge is a clue you're a kid . Don't worry ,there's time yet . Otherwise , excellent video , lovely English countryside. Thanks again foab .
+Trung Nguyen He is brilliant, he's grown up now, but he is the best companion, hunting dog I have ever had! So so loyal and we can read each other's minds in so many situations. Hopefully many more years together yet.
I know this might be a silly question but I always thought moles were useful, for digging tunnels that helped drain fields if the fields were prone to flooding or were very damp..a field near me is full of mole hills, we used to kill them years ago by finding the run, digging a hole and baiting the run with worms that were coated with strychnine, very primitive and dangerous..we used to skin the moles and make headwear out of the skins for winter, very warm and waterproof.ish great video thank you
Yea used to use strychnine very useful but doesn't breakdown. The trouble with molehills are that they damage cutting blades on machinery, the soil gets mixed up with the haylage and silage and sends it bad, which reduces milk yields and causes infections in the eyes of the cattle. The bare soil also is ideal for capturing weed seed such as thistles, which then cause problems of there own. Of course, each molehill also reduces the amount of graze able pasture, so a field with a couple of hundred molehills loses a lot of feed. All in all moles are a major agricultural pest.
+Kevin Mcwhinnie My moling grounds are safe, and educating people is what I like doing. Passing down traditions is another way of looking at it. Showing people what to do, doesn't mean they will be good at it, or accept the very worst of conditions you find yourself working in, often alone except the little black dog, and for very little money.
"passing down traditions is another way of looking at it",....well, this is being 'done too death',nowadays, with too many now, wanting too reveal " all they know " ?,....& now theres 'more than enough',...so called 'mole catchers',....as a result ? (in my opinion) (takes more than a wee instructional film, or even one of these so called 'courses for the day', though).....too call yourself, a 'mowdiman' ? lol
Not sure what your gripe is. The so called professional and listed amateur mole catchers don't want to know unless its small gardens where they can make a quick buck. I purely do farms and work hard at it. Because I do a good job, I have no fear of losing my trade and anyone that is, clearly isn't doing their job properly. I don't do anything to death, but clearly it upsets some. Why on earth would anyone want to muscle in on small hill farms, where there is no real living to be made out of it?
+Kevin Mcwhinnie Thanks and all the best to you too. As a melon I hope you show more interest than the ones we get around here. Im sure you do. Even the local pest force van that has a picture of a mole on it, ensures its parked in the pub car park nice and early every day! For me, well today Ive woken up to an inch of snow and its chucking it down like goose feathers at the moment, but at the end of the day, Ill still be out there, checking the traps, keeping on top of the vermin during lambing and pre-hatching, or generally just helping out. I tune all my traps as I get them from flatpack, but as you know occasionally there are other reasons that happens. Even my talpex get their triggers adjusted. Hope you are busy and no hard feeling.
+SpiritOwl Owl Release where? All land is owned by someone and it is illegal to release pests onto others land. Who would pay for my petrol driving them somewhere else? The land i released them on might not be suitable for moles to live on, then that would be cruel! Moles only survive in live catch traps for a couple of hours, yet might take several days to go in! Are you going to pay me for all that time checking live traps, the farmers wont. I catch 1000's of moles each year for farmers, gardeners, golf courses, horse liveries etc. All these places want the moles killing.
Great video...your dog was hilarious at the end. I'm on the hunt myself for mole(s) in our front yard. I would use my gun but then I'll have the neighbors calling the cops...lol I set the trap now I'm just waiting for it to get caught...
My neighbour used to kill moles with his shotgun ..... waiting hours and hours for the right moments and then you just hear piercing shot sound and victorious scream of that dirty man :D
Yea we still shoot them with the 20 bore. There is no need to wait hours though unless you don't know what you are doing. Once you have worked out the moles feeding cycle you can shoot 4 or 5 in an hour, which doesn't sound much but it can be easier than trying to trap a trap averse mole
+Elton McRegor It clearly states in the description exactly why we kill some moles in the UK. I am really sorry that you cannot read, you must be special or something like that. I thought you were a troll at first but now i understand.
Best part of the video was watching your dog try to take the Moles.
I guess you could say, it dug it's own grave.
I love hearing that cheerful music while your dog has a fit.
Man that dog is like fuck outta here, I want my mole!
That dog looked like it was anoying u lol 😂
How often do you check the traps, and how do you know they've gone off? Just put my first one in tonight.
Every 24 hours. The springs will be sticking up if they have gone off. Gently feel for the springs if the trap is deep set. Good luck
freedomofabird alright, I put it in at 5:10 tonight, will I be alright checking in morning.. they're in with sheep as well. Cheers for the reply
+Henry Bailey Yea that will be no problem. Most of mine are in with sheep at the moment and apart from them chewing the marker flags it's not a problem.
Very funny bit when the pup grabs the mole, out of curiosity why do you put them back in the hole?
Some people want them burying out of sight. If I am confident that I don't need to reset the trap then it is just easier. If I feel there is a need to reset the trap then I dig another hole for the mole.
Is this good for shrews I don't have a shrew in my neighborhood but it is OK I think it's for shrews and moles
+Big mouth Billy bass Shrews would run straight through it without activating. It isn't even the same size as a shrews tunnel.
How many moles do you think lived in the area to cause all that damage? Is this the work of one mole or dozens?
+Bradley Herrman Not sure which field you are talking about, but one mole makes a sh*t load of molehills. There is never as many as you at first think.
Hi m8,could you tell me what make your knee pads are, been moleing for about 3 months now and the ones I,ve bought are useless, and I,m no spring chicken, good Vidio and like you pattedale 👍
I really cannot remember, they were about £10 off the Internet.
Only cheap, but they work
great video, is it just a pest , are they of no use ? food for the ferrets? still have not got your package, this week hopefully ,thanks for sharing .
Thanks
What kind of dog is that?
where did you bought that trap? can't find it on Amazon.
Google mole tunnel trap, or duffus type mole trap
No one ships these to the USA without charming an arm and a leg.
How many moles per acre do you find? I've read one can dig 65 meters a day!
+Jack Jones I couldn't put a number on it, each field is different. I had heard they can do 30 metres of shallow runs a day, either way that's a lot!
good video but why do you put the dead mole back in the hole please
I was simply getting rid of the corpse. I only do this when I know there are no other moles to catch in that system.
is this type of trap easiest
All traps are easy, you just need to set them in right place
true thanks
Do u need that land or do u not like seeing all the holes everywhere?
It's a farm. Moles are agricultural pests.
I never saw them in the U.S so I'm guessing they're overseas only?
Not sure. They create piles of soil, which ruins the cutting equipment. The soil gets into the silage which causes it to go bad, etc
well hopefully u get them all then 👍
They are in the US. I had a devil of a time getting one out of my backyard. The best molers are in the UK.
where can i purchase the Duffy mole trap
Google it, I'm sure there will be somewhere near you. If you are UK based try Flatpack moletraps
Great informative videos many thanks . You can't please every office worker when it comes to country matters . Carry on guys .
is there a way I can capture the mole without injuring it? We have a family of moles or something living under my porch and I want to get rid of them without harming them.
Moles live under ground not under porches. They have a very large territory and hunting ground. Is it making a mess of the garden?
Watching your dog trying to take the moles are the best parts
I've been struggling with my traps for weeks without any results. I also have trouble finding worms to lure and attract them. Is there anything else one can use instead of worms, and maggots?
+DasdeutschesBand You don't need any bait if you set your traps right. They are all run through traps, no need for bait. Hope this helps and follow my instructions for success.

Its a little like a human can smell the scent of freshly cut grass, but not there mate stood next to them. If you notice, my hands are covered in soil, which masks my scent!!
Hey guys, getting lots of interest at the moment in this video....thanks for watching :-)
Hey, why do you kill moles? kinda sad how you just threw him into the duggen hole....
It's my job. What do you want me to do with them?
your job? k man.
what kind of trap is that?
Flatpack moletrap
Is this a year round thing or are the moles only active/trapped for a few months? Not sure if that's a daft question, just never really thought about moles.
Love your vids. I have been catching moles in my garden for the last few years. can I ask is there a specific reason for putting the captured mole back in the run? does that prevent other moles using the runs?

I like the design of that trap, I cant find one, can you offer some insight where I can purchase one?
I enjoy these videos a lot. perfect for a Sunday morning haha. Where do you get your music from?
From UA-cam creator programme I think it was. Thanks!
do moles of anything good for the ecosystem?
Yes they do which is why we only catch them when the damage they cause outweighs the good they can do.
+freedomofabird thank you for that info. I'm glad there is a balance like everything in nature.
"Got a chach-em mole" 😀
euphoric music, cute puppies, and trolls getting slaughtered in the comments. 10/10.
came for the moles, stayed for the trolls.
It's a game, I love it, they are so thick😂
Great educational video. Thanks a lot
. Can you tell me how or where to get traps like the ones you use?
Can't you just shoot the moles? Or do they never surface from the ground?
Yes, my lad shoots quite a few with his 20bore. He waits for the new molehills to move as the mole is making them, and then blasts the bottom of it. The pellets don't kill the moles, but the pressure shockwave does. Not practical for large numbers though.
Probably, it seems like good fun only problem is I can't go mole hunting in Australia. How powerful is the 20bore? Stronger then a .22?
+Raw Rabbit It's a shotgun firing about 30grams lead. From a metre away, massive energy dump, way more than .22
Must destroy those moles.
+Raw Rabbit it just stuns them to death, the pellets don't reach them.
nice video,.... love the dog too :-) my terrier goes with me on the mole jobs, what camera are you using to film it all great work on the filming too by the way.
Thanks Wayne. Mainly a GoPro but also a canon handycam.
Where i can buy trap? I have same problem..
Try google Tunnel trap for moles, they are very popular traps.
I think you can see these in use in my video "mole trapping with the boys"
Chemicals can be used still, in the form of Aluminium Phosphide, but it is used under licence.
+freedomofabird Me again!Just looking through your video again. Where are you situated?Looks very much like the Yorkshire Dales - I love it up there. We stay in Kirkby Lonsdale or Dent several times a year.
+Barney29508 No we are little further south on the Pennines, but you are right it is a lovely part of the world up there, about an hour away for us.
Why are you killing them?
If you read the description it would tell you, but apart from that it is my job
btw how old your dog now? still looks like a tenacious little dog!!!! A dog is a molecatchers best friend for sure!!
+Kane Wallace The terrier is 4 now. Its a rat dog really, but marks moles occasionally, like it will mark rats and rabbits, and occasionally it will even come back with one it has caught itself. At night usually.
+freedomofabird Good stuff mate. My Jack Russel does the same!
Very interesting video. This species seems easier to catch than the one I'm familiar with - the Embi mole-rat. The Embi feeds strictly on roots therefore it burrows deeper in hard soil. It's also more cautious and cunning but still catchable.
Hey that's interesting!
its the mole dead?
+CrazyCreeper SwordFighter006 nah it's just sleeping lol
I would have thought the eco hipster fluffy bunny crowd would have been all over this. Surprised they haven't struck in the ratings yet.
Cool vid. Very informative.
I like the choice of music while the dog is trying to rip apart the moles
Absolute quality watch so thanks for sharing :-) Are those Flatpack barrel traps?
Thanks Dave!!! 😄. Yes, they are all Flatpack, about the best you can get, and a mixture of standard and stainless.
Yes mate - very busy at the moment with new and existing customers. I love the stainless Flatpack barrels which are a pleasure to use. You doing plenty of moeling too?
+Dave Fletcher Yes. In full swing now😄
Still using Talpex along with the barrels?
+Dave Fletcher Yes I love them for those moles that block the barrels. Never fails, just wish they were cheaper!
Had no luck with tunnel type traps but have always put turf on top and not soil. Thanks for video.
Thanks. If you put turf on top the springs can't close when the trap is triggered
WHERE DO WE GET THESE MOLE TRAPS?? We are desperate for them! Our field looks like your field! It's horrible!
Sir, excellent video. Thank you. What is the name and brand of that trap?
The Yautja It's a Flatpack tunnel trap
Great video mate :) ive never seen a mole before haha , what did u do with it afterwards ?
Buried it.
+freedomofabird 6 feet under huh?
Thanks, very useful guide. Think I was putting soil too tight on top of the trap and wasn't clearing the holes. I shall try again.
+Jon. King Thank you Jon. I hope you catch some.
It worked. Great stuff....thanks.
+Jon. King Brilliant and thanks
Why you are killing mole what bad they will do
Do some research or read the description. (If you can read)
The thing is i live in Poland were it us illegal to kill miles
Love your dog!
Thanks! So do we!
Great vid.I used to go moleing in Norfolk next to my uncles boatyard when I was about 8yr old.I took the boat yard cat n we caught loads.
cracking video. all the best.
As always I thank you:-))
looks like they caused a lot of damage to your property , interesting trap whoever thought of that needs a medal
Good well explained video mate, enjoyed that one, thanks for sharing, can you do some more long range 17 hmr videos also, after all spring is here lol.. ATB
+vermin filmer Yes will do, just stuck for time at the minute with all the trapping to do.
Is he catching or killing moles??
Im killing. If you can read, then read the description.
Please change your title it is misleading, if you were killing them i would have never watched it! thanks..
+dawa gyaltsen The description of the video is there for a purpose. It tells you what is in the video
Great video, thanks for the demonstration.
+Michael Rodriguez Thanks Michael, I appreciate the comment
Love your dog!!
Thanks Jon
My dog loves to catch moles. He's really good at catching them; except sometimes he brings them in the house. Saw him chewing on what I thought was a chew toy but then I took a closer look to find a dead, spit-soaked mole in his bed...
the only thing moles do is fuck up your yard right?
Stunt Hard #NBA He lives on a farm. He's doing what he has to do. Go back to PETA
song sets the mood to just set mole traps all over my lawn. kodus from california

nicely done I love doing mole jobs
Thanks! Yes I love this time of year!!
Cool vid. Thanks!
I thank you!
And then it turns out the dog dug all the holes
are you gonna eat them or what if you don't then don't kill thems😭
Read the description if you can......it will all become clear.
Couldnt you capture them alive, take them far off somewhere and then release them into the wild.
+thedarknesscallingme They are already in the wild! All land is owned by someone and it would be illegal to release pest species onto someone else's land. Combine that with having to catch a few thousand of them every year and you will see the problem.

dam it's illegal to kill or even bother them where I live
It isn't in the UK
Video ended like 1990s sitcom 😂😂😂
таким способом можно и на воротник кротиков насобирать
я не понимаю
in such a way as possible and to gather up collar Krotikov
Could you train the dog to find moles under ground?
Btw, that dog is funny.
When you finish school and start to understand stuff then your opinion might be valid . Your splurge is a clue you're a kid . Don't worry ,there's time yet . Otherwise , excellent video , lovely English countryside. Thanks again foab .
what's your accent? i swear this is 100% jon snow
+TheMihig Haha
no really, where are you from? what kind of accent is that?
Haha I usually get likened to Ned Stark, but his son sounds good!
It's a northern English accent from the Yorkshire/Lancashire border
yeah, could be ned too :P
👍😄
Give me Thor's hammer I will get rid of the moles.
They were all sleeping except one that’s funny
Gotta love that dog.
+Trung Nguyen He is brilliant, he's grown up now, but he is the best companion, hunting dog I have ever had! So so loyal and we can read each other's minds in so many situations. Hopefully many more years together yet.
the right way to ,,catch'' a mole is to plant tripmines.
Loved the music. It’s very animal crossing-ish

+Kevin Mcwhinnie That should have read "moleman" and not melon.
I'm glad I have cats they be killing those thing that keep messing up the yard
its more fun to see you pull the dog out from moles
Chef Ramsey ? Is that you ?
Good dog & video
Nice to see someone catching moles the right way
Thanks Michael
Why don't u catch and release! Poor moles they are just doing what they are ment to they don't know better!
Put them in the bush!
It's illegal
Lmao... that dog is savage, 6:10
Great video...your dog was hilarious at the end. I'm on the hunt myself for mole(s) in our front yard. I would use my gun but then I'll have the neighbors calling the cops...lol I set the trap now I'm just waiting for it to get caught...
+Teresa Penalver-Gingery Good luck !!
y u kill mr mole y u do dis how could u :(
If you are able to read.........then read the description. If you can't........then go back to school
freedomofabird y u do dis :(
Haven't a clue what you are saying buy a dictionary
couldn't stop laughing wen the dog tried to eat. :-)
Well his "hunting grounds" were reasonable small and I think it was kind of a hobby for him because he had nothing better to do :D
Marcus58451 lol!
Lovely dog
Thank you!
not good to catch momle w/o purpose
+Elton McRegor It clearly states in the description exactly why we kill some moles in the UK. I am really sorry that you cannot read, you must be special or something like that. I thought you were a troll at first but now i understand.
loved to see the dog go crazy when you had a live mole! i have dachshunds and the kill all types of rodents for me as well as snakes!
dachshunds are great but not as popular for hunting in the UK
I cringed so bad when he dug without gloves and got soil under his fingernails 😬
Hehehe......at last a funny comment😄
I feel bad for the moles...
Ive only just seen this comment. Are you ok now?
I've only just seen this comment, is he ok now?
