I've used Distortions, JBs, Customs, Full Shreds, etc. The Distortion is great if you're going for an aggressive, ceramic pickup that cuts through and is tight as well. I started using it after using JBs for a couple years. It requires very different amp settings than a JB. It's a very mean sounding pickup. You can use it on lower gain settings as well and it will sound great. It's not a one trick pony. But if you throw out the gain it can handle it very well. It doesn't fall apart.

Thanks for the review Miike. I am wondering how the Pegasus /Sentient Set compares to the Alpha/Omega set for split coil clean ambient type tones as well as with gain for both neck and bridge Humbuckers? Cheers

I use the seymour duncan distortion in the bridge with a jazz in the neck and I've enjoyed what I get out of it. Though I did really like the ssh+ and the omega. I tried the alpha and omega set in mark Holcombs se at a store, the set is good from clean ambient stuff (especially when split) but also great for heavy styles. which is what they're made for, so it makes sense.
Also, think you'll hear a lot of different options on what the best periphery album to start on is. I'd say maybe p2. But they all have hit and miss parts depending on the person. I got into them with luck as constant from p2 and blood Eagle from p4.

60 Bridge Pickups?!?! Kudos to you! I have to say that the differences when listening to the distortion samples is very minor. Apply a bit of EQ to the mix and you can make them sound like you want. Great comparison none the less. I really enjoyed listening to the subtle differences. Check out Peripheries latest album. They have released two videos and they are a good starting point.

Thanks Michael, yeah I agree, distortion is the great equalizer! I still find these pups to be a great starting point for ambient/metal-sounds! They have a great balance to them, which makes finding a cool sound easy!
