Just wanna say these concise, focused videos are much appreciated. I know some tutorials have to be 5-10 mins, but it's nice to have videos that get straight to the point rather than be dragged out.
YES! I hate having to watch 25 minute videos explaining a single mechanic. This is awesome. Concise, and still not rushed.
I'm c2 and I honestly didn't know that the time is extended for your flip when you hold... wow. Thank you
ive known since d2 :|
Yo I’m c2 as well you down to play I’m bored?
same in everthing you said
@@coleherrick9050 what servers are you? I can't play rn because I'm actually about to graduate college and I'm focusing on final projects but afterwards I'm down. I'm US East
Omg
I just learned more in that 2 mins than 5 years of casually playing. Thank you!
What rank are you
You hard capping or ur insanely bad
It’s impossible that you learned more in 2 minutes than 5 whole years
@@daylark9146 Chill dude, he means about fast aerialing. It's easy to start off wrong and stick with bad habits, I shouldn't have to explain this to you.
@@theMosen so you are telling me in 5 years he hasn’t watched a single fast aerial video because information in this video is not new
Yo, 2's and 3's SSL here with over 8000 hours. Turns out, i never knew you are able to extend your second jump timer by 0.20 seconds by holding the button instead of tapping it. Well, guess you never stop learning afterall. Really helpful!
You can't. There's no difference. It's a 1.5* second timer no matter if you tap or hold.
@@marshallmowles6128 well saying that you extend the timer is wrong, but the timer actually starts when you let go of the jump button, not when you press it initially. Of course you can't hold down the jump button for several seconds, because there's a limit of how long you can hold it down
i always thought it was the timer not starting until you got a certain amount of distance off the ground LMAO
carry me to gc lol.
same lmao
HEY spookluke, I saw you in arsenal’s video!!
he got slapped hard
@@lx221 facts 😂
I mean what u expect its a pro player lmfaoaoao no hate to spookluke cuz ik he would clap me
@@nahitzsteph5896 XD F! 🙃 :')!
Another tip is to hold down on the joystick even before you jump, so ur car tilts upwards even faster
YES! That is actually essential for a good fast aerial and THEE most common mistake people make. I'm disappointed he didn't point it out.
@@theMosen wouldn't that just make u back flip??😂
@@elitebrother6034 On the contrary, it makes you LESS likely to backflap, because you reach the desired angle faster and can let go of the stick sooner. We're talking about the first jump, obviously not the second one.
@@elitebrother6034 no, before you do your FIRST jump. Not the double jump. Also saves the confusion people have with “jump, lean back, jump again” and ending up backflipping
I also thought he was memeing at first, but this is POG level info
Straight to the point. Thanks for not making this an unnecessary 10 minute video.
Thank you spookluke for videos like this! It really helped me.
Awesome video with a load of knowledge dropped in those 2 minutes! Slick editing as per usual too Mr Wolfe - quick content delivered with Tesla style and flare 👌
I knew all this, EXCEPT the holding jump actually extendeds the time that you have to use the 2nd. Pretty sure I've been using it that way, but now I'll be conscious of it, great vid.
I actually felt holding both boost and air roll in training will put you in a more comfortable situation over time, confidence being key. Trying is a part of progression.
Always great content and knowledge!
Good tip from the Turbopulsa fast aerial guide: you can start holding back right before you even start your first jump so you can get to a tilted angle faster for a more efficient double jump.
Would highly recommend holding back on your left analogue stick before and during your first jump
I’ve been GC for a few seasons now, and still struggle with properly performing a fast Aerial… I think the hardest part of this is pacing your play around always the performing a fast aerial properly when you’ve spent years getting used to positioning based on incorrect aerialing or bad habits like jumping then boosting instead of correcting positioning… gotta out in the hours -_____-
Made the last 2 mistakes, no wonder all these players reach the ball faster!!! Thanks so much!
Awesome video!! had no idea holding your jump extended the flip timeout
So good, I don't even need to look at another video on this guy's channel - subscribed!
TIL: Holding jump gives you more time you use your second jump... I knew you jumped higher but this, well this is game changing.
I’ve been kind of tapping boost as I aerial since I’m fairly new. Will definitely try just holding it to see how that goes
This is very useful to know even for a mainly ground player like me. I have tried to fast aerial before but this is a very good video to improve on that
It's the fine details like in these vids that we all need to help us refine TECHNIQUE. But seriously, thanks!
Short and precise we need more content creator who do that !
I needed a video on this 🙏
Good advice. Also, if your a newer player like me, be sure you are tilting your car all the way back. I could never figure out why I just couldn’t get up to a ball. I finally realized that I wasn’t titled back all the way so my momentum always took me past and under the ball.
Yep, that’s a mistake we all make until we become aware. Being fast to the ball is important but also being higher faster, the extra height will help you win many challenges in the air
Hey finally something I've been doing right. Nice!
thanks, very helpful
thats good intel
thank you!
Wow! After watching so many fast aerial videos you think they'd explain it well, I guess not, thank you for this new information.
Thank you!!!
Ty so much
Great vid bro
Biggest thing I learned at C1 watching this vid was making sure to get the FULL height from your first jump. Instantly made me CRACKED
lol I'm like a whole ass freestyler with good aerial mech and I didn't realise to hold jump and how it impacted the flip timer. Cheers
Nice! Ty
I love your videos
I'm so glad I'm not the only person that I know now that uses left trigger on boost. 10/10
This video is nuts, didn't expect to learn that much when I clicked
Best RL UA-camr
thank you
Best content creator
Can you make a video about comming? I can’t find any good ones just summarizing what is/isn’t important to comm.
Good to know, thanks
Ty. You what decal was that though on your car it looks hello clean
Good info
bro your vidios are amazing i was dimond 1 and now i am champ 1 in 2 weeks
Good advice. Now putting into practice is another story hah
Sheesh I’m GC and wasn’t doing this. Thanks!
Question, been learning ARL through your videos (great by the way, thanks!) and now know to always be in the "default position" before making an adjustment. But I'm finding when I then go from rings maps into an aerial shot training pack, a lot of the time you are set pretty far away from the ball and have a lot of ground to cover to get to it, meaning you need to be tilted pretty far forward to get there which does not feel like the "default position" anymore. So then when trying to use the same adjustment for left or right from rings maps where you're more upright the same input for left and right adjustments seem to yield different results. Is this just something that will make more sense over time? Or is there a specific adjustment for left and right during ARL when your car is at 30° - 45° as opposed to near 90° ?
i am low champ and i can approve that this video is very helpful earned a sub :D
pro tip: you can tilt back on the stick before even doing the first jump. you’re oriented vertical even sooner 👍🏽
Great advice! 👍🏾
Dis is de wey
When I hear this song. I expect workout advice instead of rocket league advice 😂
Great to see another rl day player using l2 as boost so much more efficient and my name is Luke aswell :)
So if you're fast aerialing properly, by holding your first jump then letting go of your stick, you should never even FeelsBackflipMan. How has nobody told me this before? Thanks Spook.
Ty now to be fast af boy
Ive been GC since season 12 and i didnt know holding jump made your fast aerial better 🤪💀
You didnt mentioned thing which frustates me from time to time. Double jump is in direction of roof. Pulling front fully upwards throws me sideways, messing me to get ball. Second jump needs to be around 45 to 60 degrees to maximize best of both worlds.
Yo spook its Klumzy, really appreciate the tip baby
You need to hold the joystick back before even doing the first jump
Wait, there's a few problems with this advice. First it makes it sound like the move order should be: 1. jump (hold down) - 2. pull stick back back - 3. wait - 4. let go of stick - 5. jump again
BAD! The move order should be: 1. pull stick back - 2. jump (hold down) - 3. wait - 4. let go of stick - 5. jump (hold down)
Believe me, this makes all the difference. It means you can get the optimal angle before the second jump, whereas otherwise you'll probably have to correct the angle afterwards. It also just gives you more time to let go of the stick before the second jump, making backflips less common.
Second, DON'T "max out" your first jump! In the sense that you do not want to wait until you are highest before doing the second one. You want to do the second jump when you have the most _upward momentum_ from the first. It's the upward momentum that stacks, not some base height that every jump gives you. If you jump to max height and then jump again, you'll notice that the second jump does nothing for you except keep you at that height for a little longer. I suggest going into freeplay and doing double-jumps beside a goal post to see which timing gets you the highest. That's the timing you want for your fast aerials. Luke suggests "about a fifth of a second", which I believe is actually a little on the low side (and well before maxing out height). I would guess it's more like 0.3 sec., but try it out yourself.
very good comment! 100% agree
Nice
I didn't know the timer for the second jump was shortened if the first jump was also short. That explains why sometimes it feels like I should have a second dodge but nothing happens!
Init same that's what I was wondering
I'm in d1 and do all of this. I do only play when my gc2 friend plays though so maybe I'm not diamond, not quite sure at this point. Maybe if I play more I'll get ranked 😂
Never even thought for a second that I could be doing my fast aerials wrong glad I wasn't thinking about it because I ain't
Wow thats gotta be only thing i am doing better than gc lol (i am plat and i use that 0.30 sec jump holding thing that makes you aerial more effective)
I already know this, but i refuse to change my button layout because i'm already trash with the ones i have on and i'm afraid i'll get worse with new ones, so thank you sir but i'll stay diamond
Here from discord noti
Someone needs to make an optimal fast aerial pack similar to the musty speed flip one.
There is one, I don't have the code tho
my controller bindings are bonkers lol... I need to use my thumb on boost and jump in order to do this...I have left and right air roll on my R1 and L1, well normal Air roll and drift on Square.. lol
Well rip me, im gonna have a hard time adjusting to that fast aerial thing. GC1 and i didnt know.
Damn. Is this how I finally hit GC 2/3 because of a .2 sec difference for flip time limits? Ty 🤌
A quick tip if someone sees it:
To optimize tilt back timing, hold back left analog BEFORE doing the first jump
Man just wants to see the world burn
@@fknenvy?
Is it possible consistently to hold down boost and jump if I use X for boost and A for jump? I guess I want to ask if someone else has these keybindings and is managing. It feels like it's going to be too hard to relearn if I have to relearn those keybindings...
id like to see u play with m and kb
Holding the boost for the whole jump is hard on the new dual sense (if you boost with circle)
To doublejump and boost at the same time it's not gonna be easy unless your keybinds are custom.
But I think everyone with a controller has this problem, couldn't do it on my joycons nor my 8bitdo pro+
To test if you can fast aerial correctly, go in Freeplay, turn off unlimited boost and you should be able to go from ground to ceiling twice with 100 boost
Wen u tilt back and do a flick instead of ariealing
You can also not realease the stick completely and instead hold it outside of the deadzone or inside which ever way u look at it, either way u can double jump fast arial and still use stick (slightly)
So its about making the descision if you want to flick when touching the ball or if you just want to fast aerial it. my muscle memory is used to flick at almost every aerial. and thats a bad habit which is hard to get rid of.
I feel like you could take on sponsors. I want creators like you to be supported
Song is “Blade Runner 2049” by Synthwave Goose.
Hey Luke wrong vidoe but when I flip reset idk what do to after if u can help me
does your training only allow certain platforms? or are all allowed? cause im diamond 1 div 3 and am on switch
adapt, improvise, overcome.
But no, I think it's harder on switch because of all the damn lag and latency you get ffs. Sometimes the countdowns are so offtimed
Is there any way to help avoid the dreaded 'BACKFLIP' or am I doing something wrong. It's like playing with fire and completely takes you out of the play. PS - best RL coachin vids on YT!!
If you’re backflipping alot you’re probably holding the analog down too long its all about timing
Its really all down to getting it into muscle memory once it becomes normal to you the backflips are far less of an issue
Im plat and it took me maybe 1 day to get fast ariels down to a useful point
Probably unpopular opinion but hoops and dropshot are decent to practice ariels
You cant wait to use your 2nd jump if you are on goal line or you need to reach the ball super fast.
yeah i think tapping both is actually faster because you get the height boost faster and you start boosting upwards earlier. And that makes up for the slightly lower jump height imo
Some of this is I'll advised unless you are only speaking of fast aerials. Which the title doesn't say. Double jumps without boosting are great in moments u need height but don't have much boost to spare. You know this but to those who dont..
I'm playing on computer. Can u do some aerial tutorial for computer players?
the holding part isnt accurate tbh it really depends on the scenario of the play because holding jump untill you reach ur max jumping capability and then using ur second jump is slower then doing a quik 2tap fast airial so imo it really depends on how much time you have and what kind of shot you are going to take i do agree tht for alot of scenarios holding is indeed better tho :) (ps not hate at all! just my personal opinion) Sorry for the bad grammar aswell
What decal are u using
I haven't even watched the video yet and I already feel attacked
I mean i do this and im a dirty gold, but second jump THEN boost works when your teammates leave you with 12 boost defending goal so i wouldn't say is wrong, is just not the standard.
I’m a d3/c1 in 3s and 2s and I’m just learning air roll right. Every video I find is about air roll left and they say just do the opposite and it has me dumbfounded is it worth trying to learn this whole new mechanic or just keep using free air roll any tips much appreciated
Directional air roll is way better because it lets you combine air roll + left analogue stick inputs. And that is very helpful bc it enables aerial car control which you wouldnt have only using Free air roll.
A couple reasons why directional is better than free air roll.
1. Directional rotates slightly faster
2. Directional can move the car in any direction without changing rotational momentum (the biggest downside to free air roll)
3. You look cooler
If you're struggling to grasp the difference between air roll right and air roll left, why not just use air roll left?
One of the OG pros once said, "Imagine the type of player you'll be in 3 months if you change your bindings today. If you don't change them you'll still be the same player, but if you change them maybe you could hit GC" (GC was the highest rank at the time)
I can't maintain tilt back while double jumping otherwise I'll be flipping back. What can i do ? pls
So I've played this game since 2015...and that 3rd error...wow...and I've gotten GC rewards the last 4 seasons!! I wonder what other things i'm doing wrong.
I always tap my boost never did me wrong doing ariels
Dude your videos had increased.in views
Is it really that necessary to have an air roll right/left key bound? I prefer just pressing air roll and using my stick to spin
You don't have to, some pros still don't use it but a lot of people find the air roll righ/left better (me included)
1:30 is probably the most helpful jump I see in the video
I need a tutorial on timing 1/5th of a second
Listen to a 250 BPM rhythm or metronome. Time your first jump on the first beat, hold it as long as you can before releasing the button and then pressing it again exactly on the second beat. Ideally, 300 BPM is exactly the 1/5th of a second (0.2 seconds) rhythm but that means you have to instantaneously release and press the jump button again on the 2nd beat. 250 BPM is about 0.240 seconds. The extra 0.040 seconds takes into account roughly the time it takes for a human to consistently (and quickly) release and press a button again with the remaining 0.2 seconds corresponding to how long you need to hold the first jump button press.
I have too many hours of bad muscle memory. Even though I'm champ , I completely suck at this basic mechanic
