It’s funny how the 2x12’s in general have a little bit less of the very high end, and sound a bit more « muffled » compared to the 4x12’s. I find the orange and zilla cabs pretty similar. The mesa sound is a classic tone we’re all used to since it has been on many records. Sounds great with a typical medium shaping. But I was very surprised by the bogner 4x12, huge low end, pretty balanced mids and open high end, sounded the most balanced cab to my ears. My favorites are the 4x12 bogner for a full fat sounding cab, 4x12 and 2x12 mesa for the typical modern American tone with smoother high end and clean mids, and 2x12 zilla for that British tone with rich and fat mids

4x12 more punch and presence but i think its enough good to buy 2x12 instead because of price tag and home usage
Encuentro mayor nitidez en los 2 x 12. Podría afirmar que los 4 x 12 tienen mayor notoriedad con un grave siempre presente, pero en una grabación se suma a los graves del bajo y del bombo y al final vas a tener que limpiar la pista de la guitarra. Conclusión me quedo con los 2 x 12.
Que currazo de vídeo, creo que prefiero las 4x12, tienen más low end a mí parecer. Sea lo que sea, esas mezclas suenan gloriosamente mastodónticas! Ojalá las mías sonaran parecidas ksjaja
¡¡Muchas gracias!! depende mucho el estilo y afinación pero la verdad es que las 4x12 suelen ser un acierto casi en el 100% de los casos, como bien dices tienen más presencia y cuerpo en agudos y graves. en unos meses se publicará una mezcla donde he usado 2x12 en mezcla y el resultado fue curioso, lo compartiré y si me permiten haré algún ejemplo con su canción, un abrazo.

But Does two 2x12"s stacked beat one 4x12" I thinking of building my own cab or cabs, and I want four 12in speakers but i like 2 different types, I been trying to fin some sort of switch that allows you to choose what speakers are On or Off, but i started thinking it might just be easier to make 2 seperate boxes and have a stack of 2 individual 2x12 cabs, rather then 1 cab containing all 4.... I have lumber to do either.

Every Cab sounds decent here. However 4x12 beside maybe bogner sounds better than its 2x12 counterpart in direct comparison.
Bogner 4x12 kills a Bogner 2X12 as well. Not even close for me.
If I am being honest, I can’t really tell any difference between each 4x12 and it’s corresponding brand 2x12. But if you’re only close mic’d one speaker per cabinet - should you hear any difference?
I can hear many differences on tone and final results, all cabs was recorded with a single sm57 in the same spot. the 2x12 usually are darker, for example I usually prefer the bogner 2x12 over it's 4x12 version for high gain lead guitars.

@@fuzzatface La Bogner 2x12 tiene una coloración que encaja muy bien con cierto tipo de guitarras solistas es muy mediosa y menos "afilada" que mesa boogie, no he probado la 2x12 OS

Tengo la duda entre la orange 4x12 y la mesa 4x12. Ya sé como suenan en grabación, pero me gustaría preguntarte cómo suenan para tocar en la casa o ensayo, cuál de las dos tiene más presencia? cuál suena más grande? cuál resuena mejor?
Soy fan de la mesa oversized 4x12, aunque depende del estilo y guitarra que uses, las orange tienen un sonido muy orgánico y una muestran unos agudos mas brillantes lo cuál se traduce en riqueza armónica que para sonidos mas rockeros es una maravillla mientras qué la mesa es más apagada y tiene una mayor pegada en graves-medios, en distorsión es más "limpia" lo mejor es que lo pruebes con tu equipo si puedes, para casa y local te recomendaría 2x12 por peso y también porqué si usas ampli a válvulas te permitirá subir el máster y saturarle bien sin que te quedes sordo por el volumen que genera una 4x12 y ganará bastante el sonido de la distorsión que produce el cabezal (siempre tienen un punto en el que empiezan a sonar genial y a veces es necesario usar un atenuador para conseguirlo sin clipear o dejar sordo a todo el que se acerque) de todos modos con estas pantallas es difícil fallar pero si varían tú sonido bastante.

I owned both. Orange 4x12 and Mesa boogie 4x12 Oversized. Also a Mesa boogie 2x12 but that's another story. I always liked the Orange 412 due to their look. I played with the Orange th30 and Mesa boogie dual rectifier. The look was nearly everything I liked on the Orange. To me the Mesa delivered all I need and ever wished. Also Framus or evh cabinet sounds better to me in my home with my equipment.

I think it sounds kinda "flat" compared to the Mesa 4x12. I am using hifi headphones so it can also be your output device slightly altering the tone.
