Funny thing is... In the now nuked canon that is Star Wars Legends, Palpatine WAS brought back. That thing about Darth Plaeguis being able to save anyone but himself? Yeah. Palpatine DID save himself- made his consciousness inhabit clones of himself, prepared for such an occasion. He also had Force Lightning of the scale shown in Rise of Skywalker- even greater, still. Old Star Wars comics are just dope like that. Bringing palpi back was not the problem with rise of skywalker: the sequel trilogy existing at all as a medium to push an agenda, rather than a genuine attempt to tell a Star Wars story, was the problem with it and the entire sequel trilogy.
Christopher Lee as Count Dooku carrying attack of the clones is entirely fact you cannot deny this. the biggest crime of the prequels was not getting enough screen time with him. Also putting rouge one over return of the jedi and revenge of the sith is just odd to me... Rouge one is good but it's not above revenge of the sith or return of the jedi.

I think Rogue One is good sure, but only in the third act and some of the actors being fun to watch like Donnie Yen, Diego Luna, and Ben Mendelsohn being the best parts of that movie. Andor S1 helps it a lot also.

I think the romance between Anakin and Padme in attack on the clones meant to be awkward due to Anakin and Padme have little experience in romance mainly Anakin but I give it credit Across the stars is a beautiful soundtrack.

Here’s my take. I completely agree with you, it makes sense why they would be awkward. But, I don’t think that was George’s intention, I think it was dumb luck that everyone was like yeah that makes sense. Of course I don’t know how George thinks, so I have no idea. That’s just my opinion.
This is correct, and a point that people fundimentally misundertand. If anakin had been cool and suave like han solo, it would have been unrealistic.

When I was a kid, I thought Star Wars was stupid. I'd seen parts of the OT, and 8yo me wasn't interested. My parents dragged me to see Phantom Menace, and I left that theater a foaming-at-the-mouth Star Wars fan. The Duel of the Fates was the most epic thing that had ever entered my eyeballs to that point. Rise of Skywalker felt like a bad fanfic.

In defense of Solo, it took place nearly 15 years before the originals, and Han probably experienced some high level of betrayal in between those to. His first hero arc was faster because he was never truly betrayed, then he took 3 movies to become the true hero we know, for he had a mistrust of everyone but Chewbacca.
"Solo" should have been about betrayal, about why Han is so cynical and doesn't trust anyone. Why make a hero out of him? Instead we got origin of the dice no one cared about EVER.

His arc from petulant innocence to power seeker was meant to emulate Luke's in order for Luke to have a more impossible arc to succeed.
He wasn't fully behind Rian Johnson though. He himself has said he had a story ready and Rian said no to what he had

Despite Dooku having good initually having intentions, he becomes ruthless with his ways and is ultimately disillusioned by the very evil that would cast him aside in the end.
Exactly this. People like to crap on TCW Dooku for becoming a cartoon villain of the week. I don’t see this at all. The dark side corrupts. The longer the war went on, the darker Dooku got. We even see his Sith eyes a few times in TCW. And this doesn’t conflict with him in ROTS because he’s simply not around long enough in that movie to do anything as evil as he did in TCW.
His arc is almost as tragic as Vader's, and makes an intriguing throughline for the recklessness that started with Yoda's tutelage all the way to Luke's learning.
I think Count Dooku being “disillusioned” is part of his character which would explain why he thought he could defeat master Yoda.
The Phantom Menace has a “convoluted plot.” Jedi’s sent to resolve a illegal blockade. Save queen. Find baby Anakin. Go back. Fight Sith.

But he does suck a bit in Attack of the clones.
Still, Hayden's Anakin Skywalker is my favourite star wars character. I have a soft spot for fallen heroes and his confrontation with obi wan in Mustafar is just amazing. I've watched it a lot of times.

Yeah, you can't put Rouge on above Revenge of The Sith or Return of the Jedi. I agree I don't like the Ewoks but you did have Darth Vader destroy the Sith and bring balance to the force.

Anakin turning to the dark side and Luke overcoming his anger and fear for the light while Kylo could've said fuck both and did his own thing. But the sequels dropped every ball it had in terms of interesting ideas and characters so...

there is one major instance any Star Wars fan is aware of that has both the Jedi and Sith team up against a common enemy but it's not in any of the shows or movies. the long running MMO Star Wars The Old Republic has a story arc where both the Jedi and Sith are forced to team up to fight Darth Revan on the exact same planet where Episode 4 A New Hope had the showdown with the Rebellion vs. the Death Star Yavin IV. and in that same game prior to the showdown with Darth Revan both Jedi and Sith was in the middle of a war with each other.

I watched TPM when i was 9 years old with my dad in the movie theater.
There was huuuuge hype with all of the merch and paraphernalia.
We watched episode 4, 5 and 6 before it came out.
As a kid i wanted to most see what the jedi were like before they disappeared from the galaxy.

I think Hayden’s acting was good. I also love that in Empire strikes back, it showed that the hero doesn’t always win. Like it’s not what everyone wanted but it’s more like the direction of where a movie is taking. Back then where things make sense, that’s why Luke lose to Vader on cloud city. I also love Ben explaining about Han’s character in the force awakens & in Solo too.

If they had Snoke reveal himself as Palpatine in The Last Jedi, it would have made a lot more sense. My idea for this is to have him reorganise the Imperial Remnant into the First Order and then have them hunt down the grand army of the New Republic
I loved the sequels until I watched the prequels. My list goes solo, last rise of Skywalker, last jedi, force awakens, new hope, Last jedi, clone wars, phantom menace. And know this list wasn't buy prequel sequel etc.
I went back 2 days ago and watched a new hope and empire strikes back. And during empire strikes back I just shook my head most of the time wondering how far Disney has dropped the ball. Every character in Empire I cared about so deeply. Not so in the D-trilogies. Darth Vader is just BOSS in empire. Lucas…. You better do something now!!!!

I don't know how many people I'm gonna trigger, but here's my personal SW movie ranking...
12. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (The Clone Wars is my favorite SW show and just my favorite piece of SW content ever, but God damn it was the pilot movie abysmal.)
11. Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (I liked some of the stuff Johnson did with Kylo. That's it. Everything else sucked and Ryan Johnson himself admitted that a lot of the things he did in this film were just to subvert the fanbase's expectations. But doing something just for shock value is just lazy.)
10. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (I feel so bad for Jar Jar and Anakin in this movie. This film ruined their lives and horrible people with the audacity to call themselves SW fans still hound them to this day. They were just doing their jobs, people! It's not their fault! To quote George Lucas: "I think I've gone too far in a few places.")
9. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (The last forty minutes of this film contains some of the best action scenes ever in SW! The problem is you have to watch the rest of this movie first. There is a reason why Lucas is known as the King of Wooden Dialogue.)
8. Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (I view this film the same way I view Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. It's just dumb fun. I liked the C-3PO stuff, and Finn was given a teeny tiny bit more respect than Episode VIII. Kylo once again was the best part. I wish Ray just stayed Ray with no last name.)
7. Solo: A Star Wars Story (As much as I hate to admit it: Ben Shapiro pretty much echoed my thoughts on this movie. It wasn't that bad, and I liked how the actors gave it their all, but Han's arc was too soon, and we did not need to know where he got the decorative dice, or we he started calling Chewy...well...Chewy.)
6. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (This is where the rest of my list gets REALLY controversial. I know most people consider this to be the best Disney SW movie, but it's the second best in my opinion. I liked the characters with Andor being my personal favorite. At the same time he's probably a lot of people's favorite and that's why he got his own show. Some things did feel bland or generic to me and characters like the Director were unnecessary in my opinion.)
5. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (Good movie! Really good movie! Like many of you I grew up with this film and watched it once a month as a kid! But I still can't help but notice all the flaws, especially the awkward acting moments. It's not that big of a deal. This was the FIRST SW movie ever and as a pilot and the literal BACKBONE of the franchise it does an amazing job, but I still find it jarring that Luke was way more devastated at the death of Obi-Wan, and Leia's reaction to her home world being blown up and the way she spoke to Stormtrooper Luke always rubbed me wrong.)
4. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (It might be because I watched this at the age of 12 back when it first came out, but I really like this movie and still do, and I wasn't the only one! I know many people nowadays like to dunk on this film, but I think that this movie is the most interesting and exciting in the Sequel Trilogy. We didn't know who Ray was, where the First Order came from, or why Luke Skywalker was gone. And Finn was my absolute favorite! I loved how he was a fish out of water during the entirety of this film, which made sense as he didn't know what life was like outside of the First Order.)
3. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (I view this film the same why I view The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. This movie is a flawed gem! George saw that people weren't liking the direction he was taking the franchise and gave the finale to the Prequels his all in an attempt to please the fanbase while also showing us the rise of the Galactic Empire and the fall of the Jedi Order. This film probably has the BEST action sequences in the entire series and Anakin's and Padme's relationship didn't make me gag...as much.)
2. Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (A lot of people view this movie as the weakest of the OT, but I adore it! The musical score, the raw emotion! I will never forget the first time I ever watched this film! I wasn't born when it came out, obviously, but I just remember getting chills down my spine ever time Emperor Palpatine was on screen, and the complete 180 on Luke surprised me! He was beaten and broken in the last film, but now he carried himself everywhere he went and was determined to bring Vader back to the light and restore the Jedi Order. The Ewoks were okay. I didn't mind them that much.)
1. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (This is a film I think all SW fans can agree is the best, except for those people who love Revenge of the Sith a little too much. This movie is just what everyone wants in a sequel. They expanded the world, they fleshed out some of the characters, they gave us new likeable characters, the action was impactful and even emotionally moving, the romance was okay! George Lucas was never the best at romance. I'm sorry. And in this film Vader says the thing! And most importantly we watched Yoda beat R2 with a stick!)

We have seen dark and light side users come together in the Eternal Alliance. Jedi and Sith, Empire and Republic fighting side by side against Zakuul. Way cooler than anything that couldve come out of TLJ.

The force awakens was the last ever time I saw hype for a star wars movie.
He made an updated list recently
I'd argue that Luke is the exact opposite of a Mary Sue.
Everything he achieves in the movies has taken him a lot of training and practice.
It's established very early on in Star Wars that Luke is *obsessed* with becoming a Star Fighter pilot. He desperately wants to join the academy. He plays around with his T-16 model in the droid scene. Then he talks about flying down the death star trench being just like "Begger's Canyon back home" and aiming at the exhaust point being like "targeting Wamp rats... they're not much bigger than 2 metres."
He's spent every waking moment of his free time inadvertently training for the final space battle. The only thing he does with the force is use it to assist his torpedo shot, and Obi-wan specifically trained him to feel the force, and use it to help guide him.

Rey on the other hand is a desert scavenger, with no special combat or technical training. Yet she instantly does everything the "bestest evar!" simply because she's wonder Rey, the KK self-insert.
The two characters couldn't be more different.
How Luke trained to fight Darth Vader? The only force training is: Obi-Wan's couple of minutes lecture; Yoda's couple of days training without lightsaber, mind you.
That's it, and he held his own against Vader and then defeated him in the next movie.
@@russianoverkill3715 You missed the training session with the remote. That's where Obi-wan teaches Luke to feel the force, and gives him some lightsabre training.
Just because we don't see Luke constantly training with the lightsabre from when he's given it in Star Wars, to when he actually fights Darth Vader in the Empire Strikes Back, doesn't mean he wasn't doing it.
A significant time jump occurs between movies. Enough to evacuate Yavin Base, then set up the Hoth base. Considering how obsessively Luke wants to become a Jedi, you can bet he spent every free minute training with a lightsabre and trying to use the force.
There's proof of this too. He uses the force to pull the lightsabre to his hand in the Wompa cave. Then expertly dismembers it when the creature attacks him.
On the other hand, Rey gets given her lightsabre half-way through the force awakens. Then she gets captured. She has zero training, and zero time to even practice turning it on. Then she beats Luke's apprentice, who trained with a lightsabre for at least a decade.
If you can't see the massive difference between the two... well, that's on you buddy.

I don't understand why people say that the romance scenes in AOTC were bad. They were delivered as they were supposed to be. I think the point was the Anakin was so controlled, he couldn't even demonstrate his love for someone how he wanted to. In the end, he could only show his emotions through hate. I do agree that it is not clear in the film. And both AOTC and ROTS needed to be a little longer, a few more scenes. There was so much crammed into a short space of time. Also there is the added, Anakin had to be almost opposite to Luke. The prequels have had the hardest task.

I agree the CGI for TPM could have been better, but it’s not the worst. I’d watch Solo over any sequel. And TPM is better than Solo imo
For me ranking the movies never made sense. I don't watch any of the disney movies anyways. And whenever I want to watch Star Wars I start with the 1 and watch everything. It was intended as one movie.

One of the first time I've seen ben be right about anything really. Even if not everything he said was right, it's the most right he's ever been at one time.
Heres my list from Best to worst
1 A New hope, 2 Return of the Jedi, 3 The Empire strikes back, 4 Revenge of the Sith, 5 The Phantom Menace, 6 Attack of the clones, 7 Solo, 8 Rogue One, 9 The force awakens, 10 Rise of Skywalker, 11 The last Jedi.
I agree with everything except for Empire Strikes Back not being #1 and Rogue One being behind solo somehow
@@charlie_541 Well i just put a new hope first as its the OG. Also i just liked seeing Hans backstory compared to Rogue one. But then again it is my opinion so yeah you can think differently.

I think two things can be true at the same time:
Ep2 Anakin is the more realistic depiction for a 19yo celibate knight.
Because I actually have to LISTEN and WATCH it I vastly prefer smooth talking rizzmaster Anakin from TCW.
Phantom Menace has good lore but the execution was questionable
I know I’m in the minority, but Rogue One is definitely my favorite Star Wars movie. I got into Star Wars mainly from the original battlefront games, sure I’d watched all of the movies that had been out at that point, but the games were what really had the most impact. Then I saw the clone wars series, and that had a major impact as well, which focused much more on the war side of Star Wars. I like Rogue One so much because it actually feels like a ‘war movie’, showcasing realistic unconventional rebel forces against an established, powerful uniformed military. It’s even one of the few that actually allows main characters to die, it also flows into A New Hope perfectly.
I also 100% agree with your points about the sequel films. Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker were obviously bad imo. But aside from reverting Han's character (and other bad things), Force Awakens at least gave us intriguing starts to the characters. Rey is a female smuggler (with apparently loser parents) turned Jedi, Finn is a stormtrooper turned good (though why Stormtroopers are even still there when the Empire was destroyed years ago...?). It was at least interesting to me, even if the rest of the script was the same as the OT.
Where the characters went from there, however... 😬🤮😵💫

Disagree with Luke having Mary Sue tendencies in ANH, it is established that he is a good pilot prior to the events of ANH, and has experience of hitting small targets, you don’t see it on screen but it is established prior to BoY, and even then he receives support from Ghost Obi Wan, as well as calls back to his training on the way to Alderaan.
Tbh empire strikes back is amazing and return of the Jedi and revenge of the sith are also amazing

Personally, after the destruction wrought by roundhead johnson, if I were Abrams the only way I would have helmed another film is if they gave me 2, one to retcon/ sh*tcan everything roundhead did, one to finish the story.
