When he gives his father the ball at the end of the game is the moment I feel the onions. Nothing compares to that. Being proud of your son and making your father proud!

I always felt the ball should’ve gone to his son. His son was with him every step of the way. I get that he gave it to his dad, it brought the movie full circle. But still I think his son deserved the ball more.

I luv the bullpen coach's wry smile when he tells Morris he is in...he knows it's a huge deal getting the call in your first MLB game ever....especially at his age.

Obviously the vast, vast majority of kids who play baseball growing up will never come close to the major leagues, but man this movie really drove home as a kid that anyone could truly get there. Anyone who grew up playing baseball sees themself in Morris watching this.

Struck out Royce Clayton on 4 pitches (in the movie it's 3) -- all fastballs. First at 95 mph (swing and miss), the second at 96 (swing and miss), then 95 (fouled off) and another 95 (check swing appealed to first base ump, who rang him up.) How sweet it is!

Cool little note: Chuck Morgan, the PA announcer for the park in the movie, was then during the movie and to this day still is the real life PA announcer for the Texas Rangers. Also, the radio call you're hearing during this scene is done by Eric Nadel, who has been calling Rangers games on the radio for over 40 years.

Thank You for that Great Clip. The Movie was Fantastic and the True Story about Jim Morris was Even Better. To just imagine what was going through His mind in that Bullpen the Night He was Called Up too Pitch. Fills My Eye's with Tears 😭😭 Everytime I See it.
That Movie is a Totally Classic Film of Life, being So surreal that it is just So Bueatiful, at Time's? That it's just unexplainable as well. Thank You Again 😊❣️‼️❣️‼️👍👍.

the thing the movie never mentions. His career.. He had 16 appearances. with a 0-0 record 4.80 era and 13 strikeouts. His last game was at Yankee stadium where he came in with the bases loaded during the bottom of the 10th with a tie game......and walks Paul O'Neil. He was released after the season, signed with the dodgers but was released during spring training
it mightve been short, and uneventful but he still lived the dream

He had two brief stints in the majors. In 21 games he gave up 12 runs (8 earned) in just 15 innings of relief. Not exactly a story you would make a movie about. And for those wondering, he is not the oldest rookie pitcher ever. Leroy Satchel Paige was 41 when he debuted in 1948.

There is a small list of movies, that I personally think is ok, and cathartic, for grown men to cry.
    Field of Dreams
    Saving Private Ryan
    Braveheart
    Iron Giant
    The Green Mile
    Rudy
    and The Rookie..
There are probably more, but these are guaranteed waterworks in my house. And I am proud of it.
