I have watched this videos many, many times and finally got up the nerve to install a zipper this way. BEST EVER. This is the only way to install a zipper as far as I am concerned. Thank you Jesus and thank you for your video!

Thank you for this wonderful zipper flap tutorial.
I actually used the flap as a decorative statement making it the front of the pillow.
I had a 16 x 24 pillow form. I divided it into 3rds. Short panel was cut 9 x 16 and the larger 16 x 16. I don't add extra fabric (seam allowances) to the pillow form dimension. I like it firm and filled in.
I cut the back side at 16 x 24 and tapered the corners so it wouldn't have dog ears.
Didn't do the binding just sewed it together with right sides.
I use white on the small 1/3 and black on the 2/3, the a beautiful sky blue for the flap.
It really came out nice. I love this zipper flap. I'll be using this method a lot in the future.
    Thanks!

This was perfect for hiding the zipper with no struggle. Looks great and mixing the fabrics on the back make the pillow totally reversible. Great instructions in you usual calm manner. Thank you so much!

I’m glad you clarified that the zipper on the first seam was face down. I didn’t get that at first. Thanks, Sherri, this is a very nice finish.

@quiltinglife this was exactly what I was looking for! It solved 2 things, a dilemma I had, & one ididnt know I was gonna have until I watched ur video. I may still put batting on my pillow but I still like how u did urs very much. I also might try adding pipping to mine but don't know yet. & don't forget if u have time, to update ur video abt the 8.20 mark where u say "wrong side together" when attaching the other side of the zipper, you should have said, "attach the right sides together'

Just made this cushion cover, but without the binding, ie sewed cushion seams right sides together with zip open to turn.
Got some gorgeous fabric off FB marketplace of Aussie bush flowers.
Must say I'm thrilled with the result!!
    Awesome tutorial. Thanks, so much😊👏💖

I've made dozens of pillows...most all of them with envelope backs because I had a FEAR of using a zipper. Your video was so well done...so simply taught that I can hardly wait to try your technique. I think I'll go out to my studio and make a pillow today from an orphan block with a ZIPPER BACK! Yay! I don't have any Annie's zippers but I will be ordering some and I hope you are a partner with them to reap some small benefit. Thank you so much!

I always like to place a 3 inch width of fine interfacing ( P44F fusable ) at the end of both piece of fabric where the zipper will be sewn if the fabric is a cotton that is not quilted . This gives stability where the zipper will be sewn . The number 5 zippers are wonderful but they can cause some waviness in a thinner fabric .

Thank you for explaining this so well. I’ve watched many videos trying to decide measurements and how to adjust for what I want. And I had an ahh hhaaaa moment watching yours. I’m going to be using leather hair on hide for my front and leather on the back. But your method is exactly what I wanted. I’m doing a couple different ones. One will have a flange. And one without. Thank you.

Thank You for making and sharing the excellent information on how to put a zipper in a pillow back, online, for everyone to use. It was so useful to me and I learned a lot. I made a pillow back like this for the fall wool appliqué pillow that I made. This procedure made my pillow look so nice and now I can change my pillow covers with the seasons, but use the same pillow form. I am so happy with my finished pillow and I just want to thank you for taking the time and effort to share your knowledge and skills with others. I do appreciate it very much. Your videos and quilting instructions are clear, well done and easy to understand. I will be making my pillows like this for now on. 🧵 Happy Sewing! 🧵

Fabulous zipper installation. I am curious, if I am choosing not to bind the pillow; would it still work, if I just sewed around the four outside edges and turned it right side out? Thank you for all you and Chelsea share with us! Truly a highlight to my day, when you are on.
