I remember when i first started quilting this was one of my first quilts, carefully traced cardboard templates and needle turned onto white muslin. My son’s first quilt, he used it for 35 years, before it mostly fell apart. It was washed a million times and loved on a million years worth.

My first Sunbonnet Sue was a patch hook kit. I loved her and glad she’s back. I do have a quilt with her on that is 48 years old.
And the embroidery adds a gentle touch to an old friend

I made a sun bonnet Sue quilt for my daughter as a wedding gift. Going through my mom's material after she passed away, I found she had this started in her stash which surprised me as this isn't something she did. So I told my daughter it was a gift from her grandma's, whom she never met.
I have the same pieces from my mom who passed right before Covid. I hope to soon take out her many unfinished projects and finish them ❤️
I love SunBonnet Sue's! I have made over 1000 Squares in 3 block sizes. I sewed around all of them by hand and loved doing it. I have only made one quilt sorry tosay out of the blocks and that quilt is in China. But that's another story. Thanks for remonding me that I have all those blocks to do somethimg with. Love you guys!!! Best wishes when you go on your mission. I know you will serve the Lord greatly :)

I made Sunbonnet Sue for my first great grandbaby who was supposed to be a girl, he still has his Sunbonnet Sue 15 years later and calls it his "Grandma Quilt."

I was reminiscing about my trip to the Panguitch Quilt Walk in 2014 when I was so fortunate to take a class from you & meet you in person together with your sweet hubby Ron. It was a once in a lifetime trip for me (even though I live only an hour away from there) as I prefer to spend my quilt funds on fabrics & patterns. Thank you for always encouraging us to think outside of the box.

As you were talking about the embroidery denim quilt, I was just assembling mine. I feel fortunate to have gotten the kit when it first came out. The squares are all embroidered, and now I am putting the quilt together. The flowers are beautiful. This is an heirloom for sure. Thank you for sharing your grandmother's gorgeous flowers.

Me too. Had never been happy with my hand embroidery attempts but Natalie’s tutorials combined with the beginner kit for practice made all the difference. I’m almost done with design #18 of the 20. I may end up keeping this quilt because I know it’s going to be special.
Wouldn't it be fine to give Sunbonnet Sue to a little girl with a little Sun Bonnet for her to wear/play with. Maybe with a matching doll. Wish there was a pattern offered for that.

Someday, I want to visit again when I can find a place to park my RV, close to the stores since lots of walking is difficult.
There’s a darling little rv park right across the street from the high school. Think it’s called A Touch of Country one something similar. If you can get in there it’s perfect & there’s now a golf cart shuttle that can take you around.
My grandmother made a Sunbonnet Sue quilt for my daughter and a boy version with overalls for my son.

Thanks so much for providing the free template for Sunbonnet Sue! As I don't have any antique blocks, I'm using the template to make a wall hanging, with some fabric from my stash.

I ordered the embroidery box and then ordered the squares . I am now on square 3 and really enjoying working on these. The bee I belong to we only do handwork so they are perfect!
Have you ever thought of making an MSQC sampler quilt with all the blocks you teach us in a year? I think it would be such a cool show and tell to reveal it around New Years. 😊
