Just a small comment: I following your work since the beggining. But honestly (in my opinion) there is no such another car youtube chanel where the development can so clear. I never understood why Škoda decided to remove its logo from their cars. The lettering does not fit their new cars at all. Imagine MB having M E R C E D E S written on a steering wheel or bonnet, it makes me barf even imagining it.
Škoda logo looks old fashioned. Coming up with a new logo design is hard and risky. By simply splelling the name they could test the water, if customers really don't like it they can easily bring back their old logo. But I think just put an Š might look nice too.

I would love to see Skoda making their version of VW Touran: 3 separate seats in 2nd row, optionally 3rd seat row. Roomy and relatively compact family van.
I would really love to see more MPVs on the market, but marketers have decided it’s much more profitable to sell SUVs with less interior and luggage space at the price of a higher-class vehicle, rather than an MPV with more interior and luggage space at nearly the same price as a similarly classed hatchback or sedan. This way, if you need more space, you'd have to go for a premium-class SUV at 70,000 EUR or more. :)
It's a way for people to distinguish the old models from the new models to tempt people to get the new models. "Oh your car has the badge? That's the lame old model." "Oh your car has the letters? @@PacificEmperorThis is correct. It's most likely they are targeting people who aren't Skoda fans. You won't believe how many people can't recognize a car brand just by a logo. When kia introduced their new modern logo, people searched for KN.
Just subscribed, I think you're the most straightforward, unbiased and honest content creator about cars on YT and you have a very gentle way to reveal unpractical things about the car 😂 I think what Elroq lacks is the uninspiring design and cost cutting ethos of the group, which is disguised as simplicity. We lose a lot of passenger seat space compared to an Enyaq yet the price is still c. Eur 50-55k with the higher trims. Every simple & useful feature has been removed from the car and passed on to consumer.
I was interested in the Elroq, being a yeti fan, but now I see it's quite a bit smaller in the boot than I had hoped, being a gardener. Look forward to see review of the bigster. Great reviews as ever Thomas. Thank you, D

Best and most in-depth review I’ve seen. I like the small storage, between the steering wheel and door. My last car had one, where I kept a bag of parking meter coinage and for an EV, it would also be handy for charging RFIDs.
A useful preview, thank you. The Audi/VW MEB platform seems to be holding up well for the basic engineering. Skoda seemed to have made the very best of MEB with the bits of design they can control, so a better UI/UX than much of the rest of the car group. A possibly insane comparison but the recent Bentley review shows that it is possible to put the iPad on the dashboard back in its proper place in the VW/Audi group. You do not need to go to the lengths of producing a revolving centre screen as in the Bentley, but something smaller and less obtrusive with even more real buttons need not cost too much to do. Commercially, the Cariad software really has been a disaster for VW/Audi. The pricing of these looks competitive all the way along the range. A film production point: good to see lighting to illuminate dark bits of the interior because it makes it so much easier to make sense of what you are talking about.
I'm going to be honest. Skodas have always been decent and sensible. But to my eyes, this Elroq is the VERY FIRST skoda that not only doesn't look boring af but is actually eye catching, interesting-looking and dare I say... Pretty...???!!!! I am quite shocked actually...
Strange that they learnt from mistakes and made new Superb interior great but in this new electric car again without physical climate controls. And of course logo looks bad. Very strange. I m really curious if people really want huge displays, colored led lights everywhere. Are they doing some research about this or something? And not to mention its dangerous to look for something on those displays all the time.
As shown on your Audi S5 car, wouldn't it be nice to get a car with nice knobs for AC etc. All touch controls actually cheapen overall experience of a car.

What are those awful orange seat belts doing in the car. Leatherette. There’s another cheap effect to reduce manufacturing cost and sell more expensive. Also, did I miss the umbrella. I was looking forward to the unveil of this smaller Skoda electric but have to say disappointed with the interior. They have gone the same was as everyone. Cheap. External design looks good.

This car has a very complicated future. If it enters the Tesla Model Y price range (which it will), it won't stand a chance. And we all know that this particular car with all the extras will probably be much more expensive than a Model Y with the standard battery (because that's the range of this Skoda's battery). So yet another electric car from the VAG universe that will sit on factory lots like the ID3 and ID4, with no buyers. Add to that the Kia Ev3 or the Volvo Ex30 and Skoda might as well focus on combustion cars. Regards from Portugal! One of the best car channels :)

@@timoxd5129 It better sell and fast. The Meb platform has frozen in time, and this is just another car on an outdated platform! When the ID 3 came out I felt it would be (in line with what I see in the Golf on combustion cars) the electric car I would see most on the roads. I very rarely come across an ID3. I really like the Skoda Enyaq, one of the best electric cars out there, but at least here in Portugal it's very expensive and sells very little. The VAG Group in general is lagging behind in electric cars, let's see how it goes with sales of this one, but it has a lot of competition.
Not a bad looking car. Bit mystified as to why Skoda took so long to bring out what is essentially a shortened version of the Enyaq. Smaller less "expensive" EV is always welcome of course. Which is why I look forward to the arrival of the Epiq, which apparently will have a bigger boot at 490 litres? than the Elroq. Would it be fair to say this is Skoda's version of the ID3 finally arrived? Why do european EVs not have a frunk built in as standard? Such as useful place to store cables rather than under floor of fully loaded rear boot. The KIA EV3 will make an interesting competitor for the Elroq.
The MEB of VW has a short hood for fitting all technic...and with this a turning circle of about 10,5m...no room for a Frunk. A Model 3 has 12m like a VW Multivan... I personally prefer a short turning circle in daily driving.
Skoda-Volkswagen designs are bold yet elegant and timeless. The new design language from Skoda is awesome. Here in India they are bringing the new design language from soon to unveiled Skoda KYLAQ. Also they will come up with a smaller EV ( Epic or maybe some other ) as market progresses. Brilliant content & explanation 👌🏼🤘🏻💯🚗
To be honest was expecting more. Feels like a downgrade from the Karoq. Not only because it is EV only and that market is cooling rapidly but also because some of the biggest markets for Škoda do not care about EVs really that much so seems like they are alienating their own customers. Shame.

Don’t like the new design language. They removed the iconic front grill! Imagine bmw removing their kidney grill design! All are just going for this split headlight design.
Enyaq and looks like also this had one big flaw for tall driver that rear mirror is blocking view very well. Really often you need to peek below mirror to see everything you want.
At this price point the Chinese manufacturers do not offer anything better in Western markets. This Skoda probably has the best value-for-money ratio in the compact EV market at the moment!
I already have an Enyaq, and I’m a little disappointed that Skoda has simply used the 4year old enyaq interior in this new car. Yes they have updated the materials in the seats and the centre boss of the steering wheel, but the interior is 4 years old now. Other makers have moved the game on and can I just say, those cup holders are useless.they can only hold a 330ml can. Not even a takeaway coffee will fit.
I like the look and wonder will Karoq look the same.....

I have karoq sportline 2023, which is a downgraded version of karoq, more like the electric version of kamiq. 1.The capacity of 470 liters is lower than the Karoq’s 521 liters. The electric vehicle version does not even have a storage space in the front of the car. 2. The grille on the front of the car is missing. 3. There is no physical button for the air conditioner. 4. The dashboard is too small. 5. The logo on the steering wheel is gone and replaced by the ugly big skoda words. It’s better not to have it. 6. The rear shape of Karoq has not continued or evolved on this car! I suspect there is something wrong with the planning strategy of Skoda's designers.
What’s happening with the stupid trend of not having proper gauge cluster. First screen. Now small screens. The next generation will be no gauge cluster screen directly. That’s the greatest no no for me. Well, it was electric for starters so I don’t even care about the car. But if this trend comes to combustión cars I’ll start considering myself as a classic car enthusiast ONLY
I really like the new design language (inside and out)! A shame they’ve lost the physical buttons - something they are really marketing hard in the current range. Just because it’s an EV doesn’t mean you have to make it super futuristic (apparently there are no real buttons in the future, only touch screens 🙈😂)
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at ua-cam.com/video/S1aNZeoatmE/v-deo.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future. Not bad looking car but prices of new europeans EV's are very expensive. WITH this ridiculous starting prices i really hope that workers in Skoda factories have at least 3-4000 EUR average (netto) salary !
With all due respect to Skoda, who I think used to make important budget cars, 50k for a decent spec SUV is, like all these SUVs, daft. I could buy a nearly-new M3 for that!

Mercedes logo is slick and iconic and has instant brand recognition. The Skoda one does not and is very dated.

I would really love to see more MPVs on the market, but marketers have decided it’s much more profitable to sell SUVs with less interior and luggage space at the price of a higher-class vehicle, rather than an MPV with more interior and luggage space at nearly the same price as a similarly classed hatchback or sedan. This way, if you need more space, you'd have to go for a premium-class SUV at 70,000 EUR or more. :)

Just subscribed, I think you're the most straightforward, unbiased and honest content creator about cars on YT and you have a very gentle way to reveal unpractical things about the car 😂 I think what Elroq lacks is the uninspiring design and cost cutting ethos of the group, which is disguised as simplicity. We lose a lot of passenger seat space compared to an Enyaq yet the price is still c. Eur 50-55k with the higher trims. Every simple & useful feature has been removed from the car and passed on to consumer.

The Audi/VW MEB platform seems to be holding up well for the basic engineering. Skoda seemed to have made the very best of MEB with the bits of design they can control, so a better UI/UX than much of the rest of the car group. A possibly insane comparison but the recent Bentley review shows that it is possible to put the iPad on the dashboard back in its proper place in the VW/Audi group. You do not need to go to the lengths of producing a revolving centre screen as in the Bentley, but something smaller and less obtrusive with even more real buttons need not cost too much to do. Commercially, the Cariad software really has been a disaster for VW/Audi. The pricing of these looks competitive all the way along the range.
A film production point: good to see lighting to illuminate dark bits of the interior because it makes it so much easier to make sense of what you are talking about.

Strange that they learnt from mistakes and made new Superb interior great but in this new electric car again without physical climate controls. And of course logo looks bad. Very strange. I m really curious if people really want huge displays, colored led lights everywhere. Are they doing some research about this or something? This car has a very complicated future.
If it enters the Tesla Model Y price range (which it will), it won't stand a chance.
And we all know that this particular car with all the extras will probably be much more expensive than a Model Y with the standard battery (because that's the range of this Skoda's battery).
So yet another electric car from the VAG universe that will sit on factory lots like the ID3 and ID4, with no buyers.
Add to that the Kia Ev3 or the Volvo Ex30 and Skoda might as well focus on combustion cars.

When the ID 3 came out I felt it would be (in line with what I see in the Golf on combustion cars) the electric car I would see most on the roads. I very rarely come across an ID3.
I really like the Skoda Enyaq, one of the best electric cars out there, but at least here in Portugal it's very expensive and sells very little.
The VAG Group in general is lagging behind in electric cars, let's see how it goes with sales of this one, but it has a lot of competition.

Bit mystified as to why Skoda took so long to bring out what is essentially a shortened version of the Enyaq.
Smaller less "expensive" EV is always welcome of course.
Which is why I look forward to the arrival of the Epiq, which apparently will have a bigger boot at 490 litres? than the Elroq.
Would it be fair to say this is Skoda's version of the ID3 finally arrived?
Why do european EVs not have a frunk built in as standard? Such as useful place to store cables rather than under floor of fully loaded rear boot.
The KIA EV3 will make an interesting competitor for the Elroq.
The MEB of VW has a short hood for fitting all technic...and with this a turning circle of about 10,5m...no room for a Frunk.
A Model 3 has 12m like a VW Multivan...
I personally prefer a short turning circle in daily driving.

To be honest was expecting more. Feels like a downgrade from the Karoq. Not only because it is EV only and that market is cooling rapidly but also because some of the biggest markets for Škoda do not care about EVs really that much so seems like they are alienating their own customers. Shame.
Why would they alienate anyone? You can still buy the Karoq, which is looking better than ever from a design point of view.

Don’t like the new design language. They removed the iconic front grill! Imagine bmw removing their kidney grill design! All are just going for this split headlight design.
What about the usual Skoda touches like ice scraper in the filler cap, ticket holder in the windscreen and umbrella in the door, are those present?

Enyaq and looks like also this had one big flaw for tall driver that rear mirror is blocking view very well. Really often you need to peek below mirror to see everything you want.

A difficult sale with the Chinese on the market offering better materials in the interior, better charging speeds, better prices.
At this price point the Chinese manufacturers do not offer anything better in Western markets. This Skoda probably has the best value-for-money ratio in the compact EV market at the moment!
Please name a specific Chinese model that is supposedly better than this and actually available or soon available in Europe.

I already have an Enyaq, and I’m a little disappointed that Skoda has simply used the 4year old enyaq interior in this new car. Yes they have updated the materials in the seats and the centre boss of the steering wheel, but the interior is 4 years old now. Other makers have moved the game on and can I just say, those cup holders are useless.they can only hold a 330ml can. Not even a takeaway coffee will fit.
I am delighted. They really did an amazing job. This will sell like hot cakes, at least to those who like and want electrics.

I have karoq sportline 2023, which is a downgraded version of karoq, more like the electric version of kamiq.
1.The capacity of 470 liters is lower than the Karoq’s 521 liters. The electric vehicle version does not even have a storage space in the front of the car.
2. The grille on the front of the car is missing.
3. There is no physical button for the air conditioner.
4. The dashboard is too small.
5. The logo on the steering wheel is gone and replaced by the ugly big skoda words. It’s better not to have it.
6. The rear shape of Karoq has not continued or evolved on this car!
I suspect there is something wrong with the planning strategy of Skoda's designers.
The absence of the usual badge threw me off.😂

What’s happening with the stupid trend of not having proper gauge cluster. First screen. Now small screens. The next generation will be no gauge cluster screen directly. That’s the greatest no no for me. Well, it was electric for starters so I don’t even care about the car. But if this trend comes to combustión cars I’ll start considering myself as a classic car enthusiast ONLY

I really like the new design language (inside and out)! A shame they’ve lost the physical buttons - something they are really marketing hard in the current range. Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment.
You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at ua-cam.com/video/S1aNZeoatmE/v-deo.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable.

In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars.
We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
