Ordered a knob in 12/2020 because I saw this review. I’m still yet to receive my order for the same Mammoth shift knob for my 2008 S197. Multiple communications to Derick the owner with responses of I’m working on it, it’s almost done just need to work on the pattern, it should just be a few more weeks, etc. For those interested in a knob from him, I would look elsewhere.

A heavy weight shift knob was one of the first things I put on my 5.0 I was skeptical at first but the feel is worlds better.

I have the barton with the two post bracket on my s197 and its definitely more stiff but super short. I love it

Waited for over 2 years for Anarchy to make my shift knob. Nothing. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Buyer beware.

Yeah definitely
I have a couple really textured versions. They can be engraved, but with a color filled engraving it's very hard to keep them looking crisp and nice. It's kind of a catch22, make a beautiful engraving and sacrifice a little texture. My favorite knob is actually rough red, its such a good color and the textures also help with heat and temps.

Always heard that laying your hand on the knob was bad for the gears or something... wouldn’t this be the same as laying your hand on the shifter?
There's some logic to that as far as the hand, I know in the Subaru world especially. However, if you look at the way most shifters are designed the knob is above a pivot point that allows for no vertical play or slop. Meaning that even resting your hand in a Z direction so to speak wouldn't matter, you're not going to force your shifter into the transmission. I believe, and am of the mindset that the reason they say not to rest your hand is on the shifter is because there is X-Y movement potentially. It's not likely that you are ever perfectly straight up and down while resting your hand and more that you have a front and back pressure that may be placing pressure on gears, shift forks, or synchros.
I've been doing this 6 years roughly, and sold close to 5000 knobs. I've never heard of my (or any other companies) weighted knob causing any issues inside a trans.
Just my 2 cents, hope that helps and makes sense.
