Marion, I’m from Northeastern Thailand and I cannot explain how appreciated I am seeing you used “Huad” to cook sticky rice! So authentic and yes it always gives you the best texture.
The design has been passed on through generations. I love seeing on steam makes me feel closer to my parents and grandparents their parents etc. nostalgia as it’s best.
I'm a Bangkokian but I have to say I have tried many times but it's not yummy so I had to buy one too 555 and I have to say you really need the Huad if you want the perfect sticky rice. 555

The first time I visited Thailand, I was staying in a hostel that would go to the local street food stands to pick up food to serve us for breakfast. This one was one of my favorites, it's so delicious.
I’m Thai and I really can’t stop smiling while watching this video. Love how you really get into every steps and those little details are very cute. Thank you Marion❤
At my housing village in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi north of Bangkok, there was a couple husband and wife from Isan (northeast) who grilled pork and sold it with sticky rice at 5 baht each. They sold at this price for 10 years and increased the price to 10 baht 2 years ago. They sold out by 9.00. They sold everyday except Wednesday (day off). Just January this year, they told me that they would soon quit in a few days as they would move back to Surin to settle there after having built a large house and having bought a pickup truck and 2 motorcycles. The couple owned about 50 rai farm land there and would become full-time farmers again while selling grilled pork and sticky rice as a side business. Imagine, selling grilled pork and sticky rice for 3 hours in the morning for 11 years earns enough to build a large house, buy a pickup and 2 motorcycles!
Wow! I am Thai and from North Eastern of Thailand and so proud when I was watching this EP of your, you are so detailed when you explained how to cook steamed sticky rice and Moo Ping and so I’m happy to watch this show. Thanks so much for sharing this easy Thai Foods to the world. With respect and love kha. Amy
I'm Thai and I really like it when I see you doing it like real Thai people do it. Nowadays, Thai food is becoming more and more famous. I want many people to come and try the thousands of Thai dishes. I follow you
I'm Thai, living in the north of Thailand. You made me cry. Mooping is what I've been eating since I was born. I think Thai people only like it in one country. Thank you for loving Thai food. thank you very much
I am Thai. When I saw this video. I was very impressed because you did it as same as the indigenous North-Eastern Thailand has done especially, how to stream sticky rice, which I love it. Thanks for loving Thai food. ❤😊🎉
My Thai gf told me to wash the rice before and found it turns out stickier but a little bit more drier. I love sticky rice, I make it and have moo krop with nam jim seafood 😊
You can use rice cooker, you can cook glutinous rice and it's very delicious, just you make equal amount of rice and water like 1 cup rice/ 1 cup water/ you will like this😊
These are the ones that I crave when I'm looking for the street vendors.. These definitely are the ones.. thank you for sharing like always you're fabulous you never Steer me in the wrong direction !! thank you for all the best recipes .take care...❤❤❤❤❤
I love this new format of videos, with you showing what you’re doing with voiceover. Too many UA-camrs will show 40 seconds of chopping onions or garlic.
I'm from Thailand, and I would like to say that your "Moo Ping" looks really delicious. I confirmed that this is an original "Moo Ping". Nowadays, it's quite difficult to find the original like this because we have a new kind of "Moo Ping" made from ground pork scraps called "Moo Ping Nom Sod".
Appreciate this channel because it's made according to the basic recipe, including the steps of cooking glutinous rice according to the original Thai version and grilled pork that has not been adapted to a Western recipe.
Thank you for making this video. I love how you appreciate every cultures and your enthusiasm on researching traditional recipes to make a masterpiece yourself. ❤ looking forward for another video from your channel!!❤😊
thank you krub khun Marion 🙏 I'm Thai and i eat street moo ping and sticky rice all the time in Bangkok but not once did i consider how involved the cooking process is.
I knew there is coconut milk in there. In my country, there's this Thai wholesale supermarket that sell this pork skewers, I think 100 skewers for about 20$, I would just buy it, it's easy for party, and It's so good. i can always tell that peculiar sweetness is from coconut milk, not just sugar.
This video adds more value to the 'Moo Ping,' a popular dish in Thailand. Typically, we purchase one skewer for 10 THB, but after watching this video, I believe the price should be raised to 50 THB per skewer. 😍
The only place I knew of (sw London, uk) that sold coriander with the root on only sells the stalk and leaves now. Buying the herb pots from the supermarket isn’t the same either, they’re Too weedy. Coriander root is the defining secret thai flavour too which makes it special.
Most of the moo ping in the street now is Moo Ping(Nom Sod) = Marinated with milk But the one you watch is the original Moo Ping (hard to find one, now a day) Anyway hope you enjoy the trip in Thailand 😊
You'll want to look for a shop that looks smoky. The aroma kicks the nose and there are 2-3 main recipes such as grilled pork with fresh milk, red grilled pork, grilled pork with salt. Don't choose a shop that's in a fresh market. But choose the shop on the side of the road. And chicken meat is also interesting. Finally I would recommend Moo satey.
Moo ping that sell in the early morning, on the side of streets are the best 🤤🤤 but Im rarely eat it ‘cuz I wake up super late, the fresh cooked mooping gone 😮💨
just subbed you! i lived in Thailand 8 1/2 years, in sw, Andaman Sea on Koh Lanta (will return in 2 years!), speak fluent Thai, and dream of Thailand every night... even though our island was 70% Muslim, there were always street vendors selling moo ping, i would have it at least once weekly!
here in the states for example loas new years at the temple grounds, pork on a stick is always a winner. just sooo much flavor for such a simple food item. also yes charcoal adds so more to the flavors if some people do not know.
Looks so good! Ima try this. Growing up I nvr got to eat pork bc my parents thought it’s not a healthy meat. But now that I’m married,, it like my bff. It’s like where have u been all my life., esp them pork bellies. Even though I’m almost 40 I don’t dare to tell my parents I eat good.
In the case you don't have a tool for cooking stricky rice like this video, I recommend you to use a microwave and microwavable containers instend. Eventhough the texture of rice would be not same as traditional way but It still good enough to be eatten with MooPing.
❤OmG!!! 1 year in Thailand... you heard my cravings loud n clear! Do you have the recipe for Kad kapow ? (Rice with basil and pork with egg on top) apologies for terrible spelling 🙏🤞

Marion, I’m from Northeastern Thailand and I cannot explain how appreciated I am seeing you used “Huad” to cook sticky rice! So authentic and yes it always gives you the best texture.
I've tried it so many ways and yes you can make it without, but I agree...it's the best when you use the proper conical basket!
The design has been passed on through generations. I love seeing on steam makes me feel closer to my parents and grandparents their parents etc. nostalgia as it’s best.
