  • Life's a struggle if you can't juggle! If you're struggling to keep up with the never-ending flow of work as a Paralegal, you might want to look at your day-to-day processes. Do you have a system for processing a document production efficiently? Do you have a system for tracking case materials? Are you constantly struggling to find things in your case? The systems we put in place as Paralegals keep us thriving as legal industry professionals. If we can't find it, how do we know it exists. If we don't document it, then it didn't happen. If you feel like a task is taking you too long, then find a way to streamline it by implementing new systems to keep the needle moving forward in your cases and with your legal career. This video discusses the importance of implementing systems that keep us efficient, productive, and thriving as legal industry professionals.

I needed this video today because I marketed myself to 4 attorneys this week & started working with all of them but now I have to plan each attorney & deadlines etc. I'm excited & ready but I def needed a little reminder that I am smart enough to work smarter not harder as long as I don't procrastinate. Get the trial prep moving along & be prepared for the "oh sh!t" moments so the client doesn't stress about losing their case. I love that rush of I got your back! I've been packing around a planner with me & inside it also has a legal pad/pen when any thoughts or ideas come I don't hesitate I just write it down with the date so I can go back to it. I've set the goal of I WILL NOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT INTENTIONS!!! To have intent is key to success! I'm doing a challenge that I actually learned from a real estate agent. How many days until the end of the year (in Aug it was 140 days) so write down 140 days, deduct days off for mental health, personal & just bcuz I don't wanna (40) What will I do too achieve as much as possible GAME ON for 100 days? I wrote it down in my planner on each day starting from wake up get dressed etc to sleep time... I included scheduled out time for my family to make them a priority in my deadlines so I didn't get "to busy" since I'm a workaholic. Then I told myself to set timers for each goal of the day & once it's up that's enough, next... I feel so refreshed & more productive than I had in over a year. It's crazy how chaos/messy offices etc can break your productivity. I am also allowing myself 15 mins each day for knowledge based research time that builds up my reserve to be able to network... Like this comment, like & shared video on UA-cam... Growing & learning me to my end goal, which believe it or not success to me isn't the # in your bank account, it's the freedom of harassment for things such as bills etc... Sorry this is a novel but I hope it can help someone in your community succeed/grow/ learn & reach their end goals. Thank you Misty for all you offer to us... YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

OMG! Thank you so much for this video. Your systems and indexing of documents is EXACTLY what I have always done to keep things straight for myself during the entire litigation process. My former employer/supervising attorney thought that these processes were "too time consuming" and unnecessary. All the processes and procedures I have in place throughout the case are crucial for keeping track of what goes in and out and cross referencing information. I feel vindicated just by your video confirming it is necessary to be successful in our jobs.

I love all of this!! Creating our own processes is essential to the success of managing the caseload as a whole. Another great point to add is to do this from the beginning of the case. As every case can differ and the process may need to be changed according to that particular case. This should be from intake to settlement/trial! Keep it up, girl!! You are amazing!!

Thanks for this great motivational video. Your advice is so helpful for both new and established paralegals. It's always ideal to look at what you do to see how processes can be approved with existing tools. I will definitely be looking at my processes this week.

Hi Misty, Thank you for your videos. The information given has been so instrumental to me. I am a new Certified Paralegal in my second paralegal job. Both jobs are different areas of law and currently, I am a paralegal for a corporate environment rather than with attorneys. Can you please give advice or do a video on working with difficult co-workers (cough cough catty women). I am more focused on my career now and less distracted by office rumors, jealousy, or gossip, however, I know many new paralegals could become discouraged or disappointed with their career choice in this unique field. Your opinion means a lot! Thank you!

Please make a video on good employee abuse. I'm just about done with my attorney rewarding my good work with more work. But the good for nothing ppl get by with compliments and not lift a finger unless they are clocking out😡😞💔

Even though this frustrates you try to take a breath & think about it from a different prospective... Is it that those complemented ppl are truly thanked or is it you that is thanked because your boss trusts you enough to give those tasks to you? We all produce a language within our actions (this is in a book called something like Love Language or something & I can't remember the author either) :/ but some show love/respect by buying gifts, hugs, attention or whatever so maybe your boss is actually creating a leader out of you to set you apart for success. 🤗 Good luck with your journey to your end result.

@@letstalkparalegal Thank you for your polite reply. I always do what I can to uplift others especially us women. Life is hard already, we don't need to tear anyone down. I had an instructor that was a total D-bag to me in my Criminal Justice degree & I was convinced it was bcuz I was the only female & only person to care/take classes seriously. I was soooooo frustrated & I quit school bcuz I couldn't handle the constant ignorance from this dude. He personally called me in for a meeting & told me, face to face, I'm hard on you & give you all these extras bcuz you are the only leader in my class! He's like you will be successful in one way or another bcuz of your knowledge, organization & drive to prove that blondes aren't dumb... (His way of joking, even though he failed! Lol) I was like wait what!?! You're always so ignorant to me! He replied That's bcuz you need to get prepared for all of the negative you're about to face in the world & I am trying to help you not be reactive for your success! Needless to say I was dumbfounded & then annoyed haha like oh my heck why didn't you just once say good job or thank you whatever... I learned a lesson here this day & it's stuck with me since. 🐣
