What I struggle with most in the early stage of my Paralegal career is in deciding which paralegal online certificate program is within my budget, completely online, reputable, and can be completed in a timely manner. Can you make any recommendations? I have very little experience.

Thank you! I’ve been on a search for paralegal insider tips to help me be more effective at work and have been struggling to find them. I work in a sole practitioner’s office with a very high volume of PI cases and expectations for fast turnover. Current struggle points:
    • Prioritizing
    • Staying on top/ahead of medical record requests
    • Developing simple template letters to keep clients regularly updated about their cases
    • Microsoft Word hacks for formatting discovery requests/responses
    • E-Filing hacks
    • General formatting rules for court documents (captions, margins, fonts)
    • Project management tools
    • Secure file sharing (is a Google link okay?)

I'm so happy you've found my channel helpful. That is the entire reason I started this journey, to help my fellow Paralegal community - in addition to showing attorneys how they can employ freelance and virtual staff. You hit the nail on the head, it's not just about working for an attorney, but being effective for the attorney and your environment. I worked for a solo practitioner for years and it is a WONDERFUL experience because of all the hats you wear. Absorb it all! I assure you that it will help you later. Regarding your current struggles, I think we can help each other out, if you're interested. DM me on FB or Insta @ArrowConsultants. I'm working on putting together videos for many of your struggles - because the struggle is real! LOL

You are so helpful! The idea of networking makes an introvert anxious though. The lesson on 365 Sway was great and hopefully we see more of that.

I'm a student new into the Paralegal profession. But I have been told over the years I make an excellent lawyer or legal assistant. I just feel stuck because although I'm good at looking things up, researching etc. I'm terrible at remember a lot things off the bat and with organizing to a degree. I want to return to get back to starting my studies but feel a bit overwhelmed. I work 2 jobs and really like to get my degree in Paralegal and in business. So that I can advance within my companies gain more experience. Then i liove to run my own little Paralegal office and also be a notary, tax preparer and family advocate. On top running my own resale business etc.

I am in the medical field I have a lot of transferable talents, well versed in Microsoft ans excel . I am currently taking a paralegal course, but I cannot get any law firm to see the above as an advantage and not a disadvantage.

    • @michellenguyen2679

Being in the medical field is very unique and in my opinion, very advantageous to make your application stand out. You just have to phrase/present your experiences in a way that correlates with work you will do in the legal field. For example, medical professionals are always working in a fast paced environment and it takes a lot of discipline and time management to complete your tasks!

Question, I work in law enforcement and have been for 8 years now and I am currently going to go to school to get my certificate in Paralegal Studies. I already have my AS degree in Criminal Justice. What advice could you give to someone jumping from law enforcement to being a paralegal? What can make me stand out from the rest of the crowd? Thanks for all you do.

I do have some questions. I’m interested in the paralegal field and I’ve been looking at different certificate programs for months now. I’ve narrowed my search down to Uc Davis and Berkeley. I have over 10 years of administrative experience. I’ve worked as an administrative assistant, executive assistant, even worked in IT and was a 911 Dispatcher. How do I properly showcase my resume? How do I get my foot in the door once I’ve completed the program? And is it even necessary to consider an ABA approved certificate program?

You bring up a lot of good points. I am working on a videos about the different certifications for Paralegals and what is involved in maintaining those certifications, as well as things you are doing now in your career that could easily transition into the legal industry. Thank you so much for the content ideas! I LOVE being a Paralegal. I wish you all the luck in the world on your incredible journey.

Of course they can. In fact, many male attorneys prefer male paralegals. Great question 😀🙌
