- Looking for a super fun twin fin surfboard?
Well here's my full Hypto Krypto twin review - and whether the latest board from Haydenshapes is worth adding to your quiver...
After the worldwide success of the Hypto Krypto, Haydenshapes has evolved the shape and has now launched the Hypto Krypto Twin - aka the HK Twin.
But how does the Hypto Krypto Twin compare to the original? What's new? And who is it aimed at?
Well I put aside my bias about the original and have spent the last few weeks putting the Haydenshapes Hypto Krypto Twin to the test in a variety of conditions - so here's my full Hypto Krypto Twin review to help decide if you should add it to your own quiver.

Great! I just bought it! Thank you for the review Chris 😎🤙
Yeeeewwww have fun with it! What size did you go for? Let me know how you get on 😊
@@StokedForTravel I'm 1.82 cm and 84 kilos (5'11 and 185 pounds), I got a 6'0 in FF 😎🤙 but will be ready until March, will let know how it goes
Happy days! Enjoy!
Hi, great video.
Just wondering if you had to choose between the HK Twin, Seaside or Dominator 2, which would you go for?
Seems like they all receive excellent reviews.
Cheers
Stoked you like it Stuart! Hmmm that's a tough question - they all have their pros and cons and obviously fin setup/style comes a lot into it. If you want fun and a bit more loose feeling - HK Twin, if you want speed - Seaside, if you want a solid all rounder that can really handle bigger days too - Dominator 2. You could happily have all 3 in your quiver though and still switch between them! Will also depend what other boards you have in the quiver too - if you're missing a twin then the HK Twin is the go 🤙
I have a hypto and love it. I’m getting up there in age and am thinking of getting a mid length. I have a CI twin and enjoy that but I’m looking at the 7’0”. I’m thinking this might be a dream mid length/old man board. I’m 5’9” and 206 lbs. 175cm 94 kg
Any thoughts or advice
I’ve actually just done a mid length board video so make sure you check that one out Michael 😊 just make sure the dims of the CI twin would work as a mid length twin, as you don’t want to over inflate the board for the sake of length but then loose the feel and performance that you’re enjoying it at with the current size 🤙
Good review
Has it replaced you Firewire Sunday??
If you had to buy either HK twin or Firewire Sunday ??
So I had the Sunday in 6'8 and then replaced that with the 7'3 option, so it sits alongside it really nicely in the 5'11 option. Two very different feeling boards!
It seems the outline has completely changed to the original HK as well as a few other things. Not sure why you'd call this a HK twin and not name it something else? I just bought a Christenson Nautilis Twin - love it. Great even in weaker surf. I had the CI Twin Pin and found it bogged down in the flatter sections which was a bit of a kill joy
For sure - I think they’re just piggy backing off the success of the original Hypto name wise to be honest! Twin pin certainly needs a bit of shape to keep it going and more of a performance twin. Will have to check out the Christenson, I’ve heard good things about a lot of their shapes 🤙
Hey mate nice pro vid as usual. Just wondering what tail pad you have on yours. It looks good and looks like it has plenty of grip. I just bought the HK twin and have never had a fish type board before.
Stoked you like it Leighton! That tailpad was actually from Haydenshapes too - they had a deal for a free one with every twin order. Let me know how you get on with it 🤙
@@StokedForTravel they are sold out but I found a couple of nice options. I just liked how that one fit nicely down the swallow tail.
@@Layzydayze ah bummer! Yeah that one fits into that tail perfectly and is really comfortable. The Creature Icon Fish is worth checking out too
Hey man would you size it similar to your standard short board ? I think hayden says to size it bigger
Really depends on what your go to short board is to be honest. For me my shortboards are slightly higher volume anyway so I went inline with that (I tend to ride more middies and logs than performance shortboards)
Is that Project Blank code still meant to be working?
Should be, but it’ll only be applied to non sale items 🤙
www.projectblank.com.au/stokedfortravel
Does the plug bother in that position?
Can’t say I even noticed to be honest, it was far enough back that it didn’t interfere with my back foot placement at all 🤙
HK twin is the best board imo.
Such a fun board to ride! My only qualm is I personally find twins super difficult on my backhand - but for forehand it’s heaps good! 🤙
How about the hypto crypto step up?
Haven’t tested that one out yet, but the new holy Hypto looks pretty fun too!
@@StokedForTravel I got the step up
man youve gotta stop the shaka yeew thing as wooli tv has already made that the catch cry for his channel.
Yeah that’s not gonna happen. A) I’d never heard of that channel before and B) after watching a couple of videos (he’s got some good content on there) it’s a totally different style 🤙
@@StokedForTravel ha ha fair enough mate. yeh he goes alright. hey ive got the same board pu with futures and ive noticed some surface cracking around the edge of the box man. have you noticed anything like that with yours?
