Lagaan is my favourite film of all time. I treasure it. It is also my happy film--if I feel I'm possibly losing faith in human beings for a while I at once watch Lagaan. I have recommended it to many different people and rewatched it again and again with friends and relatives and every single person has been riveted to this wonderful film and its purpose--even those who are actively NOT fond of cricket! It is a transcendent work. That goes for so many other Aamir Khan films as well. I am full of admiration for this brilliantly creative man and the depth of thought and emotion he achieves with his stories on screen.
That said, when it comes to this interview, please allow me to commend Jyoti Deshpande for her good humour and tolerance . In the latter part of the interview, when she was asked a question and gave a full, thoughtful answer, she received no response or respect from the interviewer, who immediately asked another question of Mr Khan. Later when she tried to express an opinion to both men, their voices at once drowned hers and she could not finish a single sentence. And this in an interview where patriarchy was being discussed .... but not sufficiently reined in, guys!

Jyoti is clearly frustrated, desperate to express herself. When she realizes no one is letting her speak, she raises her voice to be heard, her frustration evident on her face. Very immature. she is one of the producers so her desperation is understandable but she should also understand that people are watching only for Aamir.

He is one of the most Multi-talented & dedicated actor/star of Indian Cinema most of his movie touches heart emotionally in the global audience & people change their mindset to change the decision. Some of his movies were of high risk in terms of money too only daring person could do it that's Aamir Khan Sir! And he did it & the audience liked it & the movie became successful. His dedication is 100%. In a funny way I would like to say that he eats cinema, he talks cinema, he walks Cinema, he sleeps cinema, he wake up cinema that's why his family may be didn't like it got disappointed & the problem arises in the family. Bollywood so far has not seen his dedication & his contribution to the Hindi cinema & working for the social cause he is worth to be honoured in a huge way. From me I highly salute him & honour him for his dedication & so many movies to learn. 🙏🙏🙏 I watch movies not just to enjoy but to learn & to get inspired in some way. I don't mean other actors are not dedicated or don't do good movies but when I see Aamir Khan he is not only for money if he was so much hungry for money to be the richest actor he could have taken any ads that's not good for health to the audience, he could have sign as many as movies to earn much more gone for the quantity but he try his best to choose quality though as sometimes fail but he tried to learn from the failure. His dedication to the movie oh my God How he risked his life for the role in Dangal & he is smart too at first He did a role of an old father with big belly after that he had to loose his weight for the 1st starting phase of the movie maybe 20 minutes role as a young wrestler he went to the US did trekking, cycling, dieting right. I don't think who else can do it I don't think anybody can do it but he did it to bring perfection to the movie to offer an audience to feel realistic he is amazing. His 3i movie how convincingly played a young age role in Mangal Pandey he took so long years to grow his real beard & moustache to see real, Ghajini how he hit the gym and made a body so many movies to give an example. He was born for Hindi Cinema to offer entertainment and meaningful cinema to the audience. What I get from him or anybody writing all these good things for him or appreciating him as an honest audience I think he should be honoured huge by Indian Cinema asap he truly deserves. As I was always wishing Lionel Messi to at least win a world cup trophy because he achieved almost all trophies left one trophy that is World cup trophy fortunately he won. I am happy for him because he deserves. Aamir Khan too deserves a huge honour. Finger cross🤞

Two participants are literally talking over the third participant. Forget gender equality (which ironically is being discussed in the interview), what about basic courtesy? The proportion of time given to Jyoti is risible. What is worse is that the interviewer did not follow up on the one time Jyoti gave an extended response; instead, the interview just jumped right back to Aamir as if he had not heard Jyoti at all. Next time, Jyoti raise your hand to signal that you wish to say something, and go ahead and say it, "Excuse me, I would like to say something." Jyoti, you are articulate when you speak; now, be assertive about taking your turn on the floor.

Well, its the woman who devours another woman the most. Let's talk about the Lost Ladies. It's the mother-in-law who is bloating over the dowry and cell phone her son got in a marriage. If mother is such, what can you expect of her son? Then its the mother of the girl, who squashes her dream of studying further in organic farming and gets her married. And just look around, you will find diverse scenarios of women hassling each other in almost every household in India. The funny part is that in Lost Ladies, there is a dialogue between two women, that why they don't become friends instead of getting tied up in named relationships, well who is stopping you?

Haroon Rashid is British-Asian, and it´s obvious to those born and raised away from the Subcontinent. It is people who are unable to speak like that, who clearly have a need to call true English "fake". And it does nothing but reveal YOU and your lack of knowledge. How do you want him to talk? Takkam dakkam "English"? Like someone is banging dishes above one´s head. "Myself Vikram", "We are here only" and "Yaaa"? Ouff, ATROCIOUS! 😏✋🤦‍♀.

SRK comment "indian movies should be made with no songs to regularly aim at oscars" makes better sense than Aamir's "Lagaan is 3.5 hrs with 6 songs"
Lagaan was nominated but lost to a Bosnian movie. WHERE IS BOSNIA? :)
Songs in a movie, even if excellent songs are like SPEED BREAKERS to a smooth running intense story
Songs will always kill the chances of winning an Oscar
Imagine Tom Hanks singing a solo pathos song on that lonely island in CAST AWAY. He wudn't be even nominated
This is why hollywood has "musical genre" and other genres with no songs.

Songs are the core of Indian story telling and I dont need foreign seal on it. Directors like Rajamouli made the Americans accept and celebrate RRR. Thats the power of Indian story telling.

@@aham-mumukshu-asmi Is it really required to use words like "foolish", "slave", "foreign seal"?
Oscars are #1 awards in the world, and u know this. They are the most prestigious. It's ok if a certain actor or the film unit doesn't wanna consider Oscars. But if they wanna consider, they'll have to make certain changed to increase their chances. It's next to impossible to change the selection process of the Oscars panel. Agree?
RRR team (especially Rajamouli) had to put humongous efforts to be noticed by majority in the Oscars panel. Popular gossip is that he did all this not primarily to win an oscar but to be noticed by the entire western society (North America, Europe) so to raise the market for his next movie. I heard his movie with Mahesh Babu would be of 3 parts and is gonna be pitched as a "pan world" movie. So, SSR needs the money and the market
And, RRR won the award not for the dance (many aren't understanding this), but for the song (lyrics and music composition). U know it is not the best song coming out of India. ARR's "Jai Ho" is much better in quality, yet not the best from ARR himself. This shows that Oscars processes are so different and one needs to tune with that if they want recognition across the globe or to just win an award on Oscars night
      Makes sense?

@@madhukiranattivilli2321 Lol when did I say RRR won for its storytelling or about it winning Oscars? I said it was a raging hit in US netflix because of its storytelling.
You urself say RRR and Jai ho were average and still it won Oscars. U are contradicting urself and actually reiterating what I said.
The amount of lobby, political influence, leftist propaganda and wokeism that happens for an Oscar proves that it is not the pinnacle of Awards.

@@madhukiranattivilli2321 SRK earned his millions from songs in his movies else most of his movies were crap. Now this hypocrite sitting and lecturing amount no-song movies is crude and vulgar.
Also yes it is important to use words like foolish, slave and foreign seal. I dont care 2 hoots for Oscars. All I want is songs intertwined with good story telling which movies like bahubali and RRR proved.
Instead of bowing down and converting Indian storytelling to suit Western taste, u need to go more local and bring ur cultural songs and storytelling to make them accept it. That is real work of an artist. Not bowing down to please foreigners.

The wrong use of the word patriarchy. Patriarchy is a beautiful and protective part of society. It is not individual bad men. It's like saying toxic feminists are the matriarchy ! ... Please be factually educated on these matters not emotional.
