But many in positions of power are suggesting the wall should be virtual - a “smart” border wall that captures biometric information about everyone who crosses it. According to author and journalist Whitney Webb, a smart wall is just one prong in a wide-ranging effort to digitize - and control - all our lives and not just immigrants’.

We crossed last Tuesday at Tecate.
At a rest stop on the California side, a few miles down the road, 4 young men with backpacks came up to us asking for directions to Immigration at Tijuana.
We got a drive by by an ambulance and fire truck in short order, then the CBP cruisers parked across the road. Nice kids from Togo, but one could note scars on their faces.
Our contact with them was never interrupted by aithorities,but we were definitely under surveillance.
I was shocked how fast the fire truck showed up.
I'm not for the open borders. Yes, these young men were military age and wore battle scars and knew where they were going.
I am disturbed at the surveillance.

Immigrant(legal or illegal), Migrant(legal or illegal) & Refugee(real or fake) are three completely different things. Never conflate them.
And if the government would actually issue the amount of work visas needed in a given year, we'd have less migrant workers with no papers. And if law enforcement could actually slap real penalties on companies that use people without work papers, we might be able to get that number down to zero. If we stopped bombing foreign countries and couping their governments, we'd have a lot less refugees. Unfortunately for the public, it's all a feature, not a bug.
Also, if we stopped destroying these nations via IMF debt slavery (pretty much all Latin America), their economies could flourish on their own.
Thus, The citizens of these nations wouldn't be in such desperate situation and wouldn't need to flee and become "invaders" here. But you know how it goes...
