@@eirschu8973 you know, I’ve been learning about some theories of morality created by Lawrence kohlberg. In his theory he describes three stages of moral learning, preconventional, conventional, and post conventional. Preconventional moral reasoning is described as simply avoiding punishment or seeking an exchange being the basis for moral reasoning. This is usually seen in toddlers and elementary age children. The second stage, conventional moral reasoning, is described as wishing to be seen better by others, or following guidelines because they are the rules set in place. This is usually seen during adolescence through young adulthood. Many adults never even reach the third stage of moral reasoning, which is described as doing or thinking about things in terms of the common good of society or based on your own perception of integrity. So what I’m trying to say to you is, essentially, 2nd stage is a HUGE L ngl 🗿.
I bet his team wasn't too thrilled with him when all of his scores were disqualified, and gave them lower rankings at the Olympics that year. He proved himself right, but wasn't thinking of his team- even at the Olympics you're still working as a team. Getting angry at the judges and throwing your score away might make you feel good and prove a point, but you'd be furious if you were his parents who'd sacrificed everything for him, his teammates who'd definitely have no chance at being medalists bc of him, his coaches and his country. It's a lot on his shoulders but it's what he signed up for as an elite athlete. You can't lose your cool on the world stage of the Olympics bc you're pissed off things aren't fair. Things aren't fair all the time in sports, and in all types of competitions. His one move went down in history, which is nice for him bc I imagine his temper didn't allow him to get to the Olympics ever again. Too bad for "gigachad."

A medal would get him remembered for a few years, a story like this standing up for himself and his team puts him in the history books of gymnastics especially with a move named after him.
Azaryan competed at the USSR Championship in 1953. The judges were very strict and Azaryan felt nervous. When it was his turn, Azaryan pulled himself up on the rings and performed his own special technique. The judges did not give him an assessment at the time but he was invited to the next championship. It would later turn out that the judges had rated Azaryan's innovation as something "unprecedented." This technique Azaryan had performed would later become known as the "Azaryan Cross." The judges actually supported him and this story presented here is a lie. Look up 5th generation warfare. @@eirschu8973 a rule that was made up on the spot to make the judges not look bad

Azaryan: **gets a gymnastics move named after him**
Azaryan competed at the USSR Championship in 1953.
