It's so tragic, but agreed. Saw their story with cbs, the invited journalist sounded stunned by the game controller, but the CEO almost had a sense of pride that they were using less sophisticated tools.
Almost like a mindset of "they said it couldn't be done but we're doing it", seems like a terrible way to approach such a dangerous field. This sub seemed far safer- even it's size for one person in comparison to 5

There's still so much down there that we don't know about and watching this video is almost like watching a moon landing. In the beginning of the video at 0:05 we can see the small pressurised sphere compared to the rest of the sub. A superb and secure machine that exposes how cheap and flawed was the Titan submersible. The Alvin submersile is also a piece of ever evolving hardware that has completed more than 5000 deep dive missions since its creation in late 60's. A well understood and secure industry that will suffer from those big mistakes.

Thank you Natgeo and thank you James for the opportunity you gave us to see this. It’s amazing!
After seeing this any ordinary person can tell the difference between Titan’s equipment, this, or the Russian Myr …
Personally I lost my ability to swim years ago because I almost drowned a couple of times and my fear of water is huge. As I was watching the video my anxiety was bigger then the whole Mariana Trench 😂 but if I had the opportunity to be in James’s place I would do it anytime 🤣
