No one:
My step Dad, every single time he got in a car with an audience because we lived in farm country: "See that cow? It's out-stand-ing in its field."
Dad jokes are needed for the success of every road trip.
Haha My dad, when we saw cows: Oh, look at the sheep! Look at those sheep.🐄 And when we saw sheep: Oh, look at the cows! Look at those cows.🐑
I don't know why it always tickled us and we'd each go on about the cows (sheep) and sheep (cows.)
All the more funny with Mom's eye-rolling
😂❤👌
Mine was, & still is, a bit more colorful. When he'd see a mule or donkey my dad'd say:
"See there, that's just like a man. Showing his a$$ off in the front yard."
We call each and every moo moo we see
I love the dial-up internet tone in his "thoughts"
Love the vintage Samsonite carry on, Liz! I went through a phase of collecting these bags, and I love them. Also, when you see a cow, the first person says "Cow!" and anyone else in the car says "Moo!" As it is written, so shall it be.
We just cut out the middle man and Moo.
"Oh Samsonite, man I was way off"
Had one of those bags for my daughters diaper bag. I think that lasted through all of our military traveling careers. It was a great bag.
Been on these road trips so many times. Family road trip version - 'stop touching me,' 'if I have to stop this car ...,' 'just go on the side of the road, no one will notice,' etc... Aahhh, memories😂😂😂
This is a family vacation and you will enjoy it whether you like it or not!
Wow, didn't know you were in the car with us. Hahaha🤣
They are forever known as “Road Trip Snaps!”
Poor Liz!
It sounded like 'road trick snaps' for me, which is something I'd very much like to see. Maybe a picture of Adam driving up on two wheels or Ryan demolishing an obstacle course that stands between him and the next bathroom?
“What’s that smell? Oh yeah - paper mill…” So true! 😂
Spring Grove, Pennsylvania
In central valley of CA - it's dairy farms or slaughter houses!
The cow thing is so real, but you've gotta add horses in there too
Deer.
@@davidrush4908 First one to see the deer gets to pick where we eat lunch!
And sheep!
Always a good day when It’s A Southern Thing posts a new video
yeah there vids always make me happy when im sad
Talia was my mom. 2 Tylenol PMs and she was out for the duration 😂 love and miss you mom ❤
😂 That's cool...MY mom was ALWAYS wanting to stop and pee. Imagine being a southern diabetic with THREE kidneys. The tea was the biggest problem... always the BIGGEST tea she could POSSIBLY get at a road side drive in window. 🤷😏
@@dgeneeknapp3168 I love this story
My mom needed no meds. Once we were out of the driveway she was out until we stopped somewhere. It was very impressive. 😂
Give me a Benadryl and I’m out for 20 minutes allergies stinks
@@dgeneeknapp3168that’s my sister every time she takes her lasix my moms like you just went and she’s like momma you don’t understand I took it while I’m like how much longer I gotta go
The “bag of salt” was hilarious and so true.
I'm from the South too...of England! I relate to your humour 100%. Makes me want to visit the South of the US. I know I'd love it, we have a lot in common, y'all 😊
Thomas Sowell wrote a book about the cultural origins of the US and how the US culture relates to England. I just watched a video about it before I watched this one.
@@freethebirds3578That's interesting, I'd like to watch it. What's it called?
I love how there's an infant car seat in Adam's car and never a mention of a baby 😂
Maybe it’s that rare instance where the baby is actually all fed, has a clean diaper, and is sleeping for the duration of the trip 😮
I am literally all of these people except for the car sick. And instead of Punch Buggy, we play Punch Dollar General. Good Times.
We are going on vacation from SC to Florida on Saturday. Driving all the way, I’m going to introduce this game. 😂
Punch Waffle House. Our arms become swollen & bruised before we even cross the first state line.
Your poor arms
That would be a dangerous game in my county, we have 9 of them and we have less than 40,000 people
Liz, you forgot to hit the invisible break peddle when the driver was APPARENTLY driving like a maniac! 😝😆🤣😂
I’m from the Midwest but I love this channel so much
Ryan 😂😂😂 seriously there is always somebody who will exclaim ooh I knew I shouldn'ta had...(insert whatever beverage they knecked before stepping into the car and then making you stop a million times!)😅
I am that person!
I was that person as a kid but I blame all those bathroom trips on my mom and grandma who always wanted to make sure me and my brother were hydrated. Like every 10 minutes or so, they’d be like “you look unwell, drink some water so you’re hydrated.” No wonder it took us forever to get to El Paso
The Paper Mill one got me
My parents tried the we will not be stopping thing. 30 minutes later we stopped so I could use the restroom at the gas station.
And they look at you like you just killed someone . . . , but you just needed to pee. . .
My dad would let you wet the car seat if you didn't learn. We leaned quickly.
I'm sorry, but I'm always the one who has to pee no matter how much or how little I drink.
Same here.
That is my mom and brother while me and my dad could take a 9 hr car drive with just needing to stop for gas. My school has trained me well.
Me too😂
Me too!
DITTO !
1. I thought it was required to Moo upon seeing a cow? Maybe that's just me. 2. Having grown up in a paper mill town, I felt that.
Lol. There’s always someone who immediately has to use the bathroom. 😂
“Guys I gotta pee again. What are your thoughts about that?”😂😂😂
I like the tee... I remember the Blizzard of '93. We loved it!
“I guess I’ll just have to be alone with my thoughts.” *dial up internet sound* why is that me? 😂
I always yell cow! Papermill got me 😆
Great video y'all. Love to see new stuff on here.😎
I'll take changes in latitudes changes in attitudes !! Good Times !!
We just play the 2-disc set with the greatest hits first, then choose from Boats, Beaches, Bars, and Ballads.
0:19 literally just did this Saturday. wasn't a road trip just went up toward Gadsden from around Tuscaloosa, but it was the same energy. my buddy never got out of the far left lane so i just had to do it. lol
She said snaps! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
From our house to either grandparent's house was a 3-hour drive through dairy country. Never said cow once (although I had a high school friend who did). Guess we were used to them. But pretty much everything else hit home. Brought up memories of driving from NY to CA and back to NY in 4 weeks with a pop-up camper, 7 people in the station wagon, and no AC. My brothers were in the back seat and my cousin and I were in the "way back" and would wave at the car behind us. (We were 14, so not little kids.) Fun times.
Yep - good times ! As a baby boomer , remember an amazing three week car / camping / motel ( had to have a pool ! ) round trip fr. Illinois to California w/ parents , my older brother & a couple who were my folks best friends . Six of us in a Chevy convertible pulling a pop-up camper on two lane blacktop routes . One of the best vacations ever - saw all the usual tourist-y stuff + camped at beautiful national parks , cooler for roadside lunches & mom 'n pop diners , " theme " motels ( log cabins / teepees , etc. ) ... my favorite was a motel where the owner had a palomino gelding that did tricks - my dad talked the owner into letting me , a horse crazy little girl , sit on the gelding to get a photo . 🐎💙 ( fifteen years & many riding lessons later , I became a pro horse trainer ! )
Very few of these are things I've actually heard Southerners say on a road trip...
A unicorn floatie?
Really?
Talia the only person you want to allow In the car for a road trip, but you are definitely the only person driving😂😂
Jimmy Buffett's Greatest Hits please for the annual FL trip. That and the Doobie Brothers got us through Tennessee and over Monteagle Mountain and well into Georgia before we had to stop "right outside of Atlanta." Oh and COW!
i'm the "gotta pee every hour" even when i actively try to dehydrate myself with salty snacks 😭 forgive those of us with small bladders!!!!
No road trip is complete without Bucees!!
Traveling today from Jacksonville, FL back to our home in coastal GA on I95 my husband says"that was a busted up gator on the side of the road." Continuing to read my book I ask, "from a semi truck tire or a real alligator?" It was the animal type.
I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MANY "LAWRENCE FAMILY CAR TRIP" BOXES THIS VIDEO TICKED!!! p.s. that is in all caps because I am laughing so dag gum hard right now! BLESS YOUR HYSTERICAL ❤'S😂
i dont even need to be on a road trip to point out a cow... i'll be in the car alone and still say "moo cow" XD
Most of these are true😂 we moved from SC to IL two years ago
I'm going to start calling them road trip snaps from now on 😄
Oh, come on! You know it's "how now, brown cow" 😂
I just came back from a Jeep Jam in the NC mountains abd a large portion of those things were said..including the paper mill!
One of them definitely should've been something like, only 8 more hours until we're out of Texas!
Only 8? Seems too short 😂
Our family on road trip, “who cut the cheese? Not me, not me, pew you did it!”
''God, what was that smell ?'' NO - I WAS NOT IN THE VAN WITH THEM !😅🤣😂
This is all me. Even though I grew up in NY my family is from Kentucky so it's ingrained in me. I also always say oh honey.
Two places I will always stop by on a road trip, Buc-ee's and Peach Park.
Paper mill 😂😂 so true- welcome to Georgetown, SC
OMG! BATES HOUSE OF TURKEY! They have the BEST smoked Turkeys! YUM!
My niece sleeps through an entire trip to the camping area we go to every year.
But..
“Cow”
“Horse!”
“Bull!”
The only thing I disagree with on this, is the title. I think this is what everyone says and does on road trips not just Southerners. But other then that spot on.
That was my thought too
It's a force of habit 😂
Agree ! Friends & family all over the US & we all have road trips like these ! Also thinking of Chevy Chase in " Vacation " & actually know a few folks who could have written the script fr. an accumulation of their ( true ? ! ) vacation stories - honest !! 🤣🤣🤣
Y’all getting any air back there
That one hit different
I’m the guy in the back seat napping for 4 hrs in an uncomfortable position 😂
Spotting cows: when my ex and I were dating we drove north into OK, and in Spanish, I kept pointing out the calves - or at least I thought I was pointing them out, using a word I didn't get to use often from my vocabulary. Turned out that instead of saying _terneros_ , I was saying _ternuras_ 🐮 ("tendernesses") 😂 . To this day when I visit El Salvador it's a joke between me and my in-laws.
I thought it was just my family that pointed out cows!
My brothers are always the ones saying every 5 minutes that they have to go to the bathroom
My dad is the "you will neber drove this car" person and my mom is the "let's stop at every antique shop/ local favorite gas stations/odd roadside attractions" person.
Oh, and we listen to every episode of Prairie Home Companion bc they have learned how to download things to the jukebox.
That part i actually don't mind.
I’m the over-prepared lady (snacks, fully charged Kindle-yes, I can read in the car, don’t judge me-meds for the carsick people, music, etc. Meanwhile, my dad is the one who’s like, “You can drive when hell freezes over!”
Snack girl: English, do you speak it?
This is just like my car when we go on road trips
Do you all not wear seatbelts??? Haha jk probably the green screen right. Love this bit btw. 👍😁
I’m the one who falls asleep and then gets car sick what feels like every single road trip. I resonated with this video two seconds in when they talked about taking motion sickness medicine. 😄
The papermill is the absolute truth!😂😅 Horrid stench!🤢
Love Adams shirt!
I LOVE IT
The papermill line reminds me of every time I've visited Huntsville
"I brought a bag of salt"
Me with POTS
Southerner-Cow.
Dogs in Up-Squirrel!
Same energy!
When are y’all gonna post bless your rank again it was my favorite 💕😊
0:28 true 0:32 that’s me 0:47 oh my gosh this is my mom every time my dad drives 0:48 my sister when she took her lasix 1:14 we bring a bag every time 1:29 why is this accurate 1:43 true 1:58 there’s some of the worst smells 2:15 my sister and brother he does it whenever there’s a twisty road now whenever we go to Alabama we have to stop at bucees yeah service stinks sometimes talias me 😂
My road trip game is counting how many Dollar Generals we drive past!
My Daddy actually put a porta potty in the back of our on a road trip.
OMG! I was in Lewisport, KY when the Great Blizzard of '93 hit. I was even there when the Great Flood of '98 happened, I was living in the same town (Yes, it may of had a stop light where my house was, but, that is still the equivalence of a one stop sign town).
we should make "road trip snaps" a thing
My mama always packed country ham biscuits
Cow! I love it!
Paper mill!!! 💕
Given that my parents trained me to sleep in a car (I was horrendous to get to sleep as baby - it’s not changed), if I’m a passenger and the trip is longer than 10 -20 mins, I’m asleep. I will wake up exactly when the car comes to a complete stop at the end of the trip.
MOOOOOOO! And Pedro signs on I-95!
Lol. I was waiting for Bates House of Turkey.
I always moo at the cows!!
Next time I go on a road trip, I'm gonna bring the snaps.
Adam drives while looking at his passenger long enough to cause an accident! Just sayin'!
I know! It actually made me nervous.🤣
The bag of salt lol
I recall traveling with a group in three cars. We stop for gas, we're there for 15 - 20 mins. No sooner than we get back on the road one of the kids in the other car announces they need to use the restroom.😡
I can smell that paper mill from here.
You gotta pee? Here's a coffee can for the girls and a bottle for the boys, throw it out the window when you're done! My son always had an extra water bottle in school just for that purpose and it worked out great
Nothing about Buc-Ees?
PEACH PARK ! YES !! CLANTON, ALABAMA !!!
Im Talia on roadtrips! I sleep so I don't get car sick though!
I will drive 2 extra hours to avoid a paper mill.
"Cow!" "Cow! "Cow!" 😂😂😂 I'm not sure who I related harder to: Liz with all the road trip "snaps" (and admit it, we all have at least one or more snacks that we HAVE to bring on a road trip--with my friends, it was grapes, Wheat Thins and Reese's peanut butter cups that often wound up being breakfast on at least one day)? Or Adam's leg cramp? Those cramps are awful, y'all!
OMG I used to live across from a paper mill. It was horrible.
Omg!! The paper mills. 🤢🤮
I don't get car sick, so I don't do dramine, and i dont pee often, but I can sleep through anything lol and I have tons of snacks lol 😂😅😅
Hilarious
Please tell me Ryan was intentionally mimicking the "squirrel!" scenes from Up with his "cow!"
As a southerner I have a question, why wasn't Buccee's mentioned at all in this video?
Buccees isTexas and Texas has different traditions from the south.
@@kevinengland8209 Buccee's is in other states besides Texas
Yeah,But they're still not traditional southern.
And no one is wearing seatbelts!😂
Wait a minute, they didn't stop for roadside/gas station HOT BOILED PEANUTS?! Y'all better put that in part 2.
