The pipe smoker's tool had the flat tobacco tamper, the long probe for cleaning the stem (if straight), and a small blade for scraping the bowl. I was a pipe smoker once, as was my father. A great tool could be just cheap stainless, because it did the job. Cheaper tobacco was often sold in twists. Coils which you'd have to prepare by cutting. So the knife was dual purpose. Often they were shaped like small cut throat razors in that pocket knife chassis. I often lost the little tool. So I would a large head nail for tamping, and pointed end to clean out the doddle or smoked plug. Ashtrays often had cork doddle knockers in the middle. Mostly gone now. The rings ought to twist to open out the blade.

Depending on cost, would you consider fixing the Polish knife? It looks pretty neat...a lot of history there...I agree with you on the plane & the screwdriver...the older tools have so much character...if used with care & maintained, they will look even better...Thanks! btw, I'd like to hear the story on the Wave & the Gerber... :))
Yeah some of them I might, I've actually got a pocket knife in really bad condition I'm playing on fixing, the wooden handles and completely broken of so I'd love to try and repair it, I'd like to try filming It but I'll have to see. I even thought about doing a video just on said screws I like them that much 😂 I think I did a video on the wave and gerber, if not I can probably do one.

Yes, you are correct...I smoke my pipes from time to time & this little knife would be perfect to use...
I also like looking for knives at flea markets. Ipicket up a nice hunting stiletto by Anton Wingen last year.
