It's called "hittin' a lick" because if you've ever seen a man pull a gangster's roll from his pocket to pay someone, typically he has his billfold doubled over. He first licks his thumb and forefinger and then starts to peel the bills back in succession. So, what he has in his hand is a gangster's roll. What he does after he has that roll in his hand is "lick" in order to peel off whatever he needs to pay the man he's doing business with. It's similar to licking your thumb when you're turning the page of a newspaper. In this case, he's hitting the lick or stealing from the man that's holding the gangster's roll.

How’s it going Josh? This and your story reminds me of a time I got caught stealing gas. I had just gotten my drivers license, 16 years old. I took my father’s car without permission, it was an old maroon Nova with the big ole chrome bumper. This wasn’t your Awsome souped up Nova , maybe it could have been. But from what I remember it was another piece of crap car my parents had. I was on my way home and ran out of gas. I was scared to death to get caught taking the car and for leaving it on the side of the road, run out of gas. I was broke and had no way of paying for gas . I decided I would siphon gas out of a car get home and no one would ever know. I was really scared to steal gas , but more scared of being caught taking my father’s car. I was in a upper middle class neighborhood a couple miles from my house. I found a house and car I thought I wouldn’t get caught at, I had just gotten ready to siphon the gas and a car pulled into the driveway. I tried to quickly run and hide, but they already noticed the car on the side of the road and saw me run and hide. I was ducked down in some bushes down behind the car I was going to steal the gas from, I couldn’t see them but heard several guys get out of the car and they immediately yelled to me to come out! Get out here!! We know your there!! We saw you run!! I had nowhere to run, I was trapped and couldn’t leave my father’s car if I wanted to. I was scared to death!! I came out and there were 4 guys, I was 16 they were in their early twenties. They were standing around me and the one who lived in the house asked me what I was doing, why was I. Sneaking around his house. I immediately came up with a story . I figured I’d try to make them feel bad for me and maybe they wouldn’t beat the shit out of me!! It’s amazing sometimes how fast you can think on your feet when your scared!! They were talking to each other infront of me about how they should just beat the shit out of me, I told them that I was attempting to steal gas from the car in the driveway and pointed out the my car, I started whimpering and telling them how I just got my license and took my father’s car and was scared to death to get caught by my father, that if he caught me the beaten he would give me would be far worse than anything they could do to me!! I pleaded with them that I would never do something like this but couldn’t face any father’s and be beaten again, that he may hurt me , I could end up hospitalized. I started crying in fear of my father, begging them to please help me. That they could do whatever they felt they wanted to do but please let me go! It worked like a charm!! Not only did they let me go, they put gas in my car from a gas can and gave me a warning to never steal from anyone again. About a year and a half , two years later I was with a friend out partying and we were heading to a friend of his place to go meet up with some people. We get to his friends place and it’s the same house I got caught stealing gas at. I couldn’t believe it!! I quickly told my friend the story and said, I can’t go in there, their going to remember me and say something!! I wasn’t scared, just extremely embarrassed!! He assured me that no one would remember and that they were good people. We went in and were hanging out, I got introduced to everyone. Maybe a half hour goes by and I knew they knew who I was, he said to me, you look familiar. I then told him who I was, and he already knew and instantly laughed. Then everyone talked about what had happened and it turned out that he was a really nice guy. He had told me that night him and his friends were going to kick the shit out of me and teach me a lesson until they heard my story and saw me crying and at that time thought they saw how scared I was of my father catching me, in reality I was scared of them catching me!! My father thankfully had never hit me or beat me. At the moment it was the only thing I could think of that would save me, I had to make them feel bad for me, I would never say such a thing and don’t take it lightly about any kind of abuse. I was 16 , scared to death that 4 guys were going to hurt me and I did what I thought necessary to save myself and it worked better then I thought. It taught me a very valuable lesson and the fact that I ended up in that house and meeting the guy a couple years later was almost reminding me, that certain things are meant to be. I needed to get caught that night!! After that incident I would never take a car without permission again, and I would never steal or take anything from anyone again!! It ended up being a story that was told many times. It isn’t often that you meet the same people that caught you and you become friends with them. They understood that I was a stupid kid making a stupid mistake and I wasn’t a bad person. Just someone making a stupid mistake!! Many people make poor decisions and make mistakes, it doesn’t make them bad people and most people deserve the benefit of doubt and deserve a second chance!! I’m really fortunate that I was given a second chance, I didn’t take it lightly and I’ve never forgotten it!! Thanks again Josh for sharing this story and yours. I hope anyone who reads this likes it. I’m 49 now, that was one of many valuable life lessons I learned. I’m still learning and hope I never stop. I’ve been criticized a lot for leaving long comments, no one will read all they crap!! I’ve learned to ignore the negativity!! I read all different types of comments, watch many different channels, I can learn something from everyone. It’s all s matter of perspective and having an open mind and not judging others!! I red all of that similar story I stole a car from my high school parking lot parked it at a nearby church at the end of the day when the gas ran out . The guy was actually glad and when I saw him in the school bathroom he didn’t kick my ass but said thank you quietly it was a clunker and he got a nice new truck with a little help from the courts when I got busted my buddy ratted me out plus finger prints all over. 20 years later we met again waiting in line together at the local methadone clinic . I apologized again and we became good friends.

A deferred sentence in the state of Oklahoma is basically like an additional form of probation that involves pleading out but are given one last chance. If they avoid getting in trouble for said amount of time while under the deferred sentence, then afterward, the initial charges can be removed from their record like it never happened. However, if they do wind up getting caught up for something else during that time frame then they are subject to having to do the time/punishment for whatever constituted the deferred sentence in the first place, on top of whatever may come from the new charges.

I don't have to imagine that scenario, when I was in my early 20s (i was just another inner city knucklehead) I was always getting in some shit. I made a name for myself as a solid dude and was always in the know about another of criminal activities.... one day in was chilling / smoking at the downstairs neighbors apartment (he was a gang member/ drug dealer so it wasn't unusual street people to come and go) a dude comes in (I've met him before, we chopped it up a few times) I knew of a smash and grab he did at a gun store that they go t away with so I was only thinking of the money when j was let in on a armored truck hit he was planning to pull off in 2 days... I thought long and hard and at first I was all in. As the day and the next day wore on j started to think better of it... I had a kid on the way and was converting into making better decisions... long story short he was shot in the head and killed. I am so thankful I had time to change my mind 😂 who knows, maybe if I had gone it would have made a better outcome but I don't care. At this point in my life (i am 37 yrs old with a house in the suburbs,, 2 beautiful kids) I can't believe I was ever in a mindset that would seriously consider such a thing. They really should move the age you are considered an adult to like 30 lol. In was a nightmare until my late 20s (international drug smuggling, shootouts, robberys, I've had money on my head etc...) i can't even understand how I am still here honestly.

Welcome home Fren! Probation is a MF, I've never successfully completed. They finally got tired of it and just gave me 6 months at the Violation Of Probation Unit and a year of Work Release. VOP is a dorm style set up, 10 pods 30 men per pod. It's run like a bootcamp or something. No books besides The Quran and The Bible. You go out and do "road crew" stuff like cutting grass, picking up trash, painting little leagues, etc. This is where you go when you violate probation on a technical (dirty urine, absconding, curfew violation, etc) if you catch new charges you go to the jail. VOP you get woken up at 5 AM sharp by the revelry being played over the loudspeaker. Guards come around every 30 min for check 24 hrs a day. From 5 AM to 9 PM when they come in you have to stand up in front on your bunk, you also can't lay down between those hours. If you get a write up they shackle your ankles, cuff your wrists and make you roll a 50lb + log on a yellow line shaped like a square. You do get basic cable on the pods but it's one tiny flat screen on the wall. Anyway I said all that to say probation can be a MF and I don't miss bein on paper lol. You got this tho!

Generally if a person is a floater it means the inside of his guts and cavity in his chest and abdomen has filled with gas from rotting tissue and he floats up to the top. A lot of times when they dismember a person they get this cavity cleaned out so it can't hold gas and float. You need to wait the person down at this point if you're going to throw him in the river. Also the fish can eat you more easily if you are cut up

@@stephenball9860 no I'm an engineer I can tell you how anything works batteries car motors people that float or don't. Generally if you look at these people that they find floating it's either somebody who's going to get caught because there's this giant wide evidence trail getting them to the river or something. If you look at people who do these things like say the mafia if it's a guy they just want rid of and they don't want to ask him any questions you'll find him there plastic bag over his head. Probably in the dark snuck in somewhere with his friends thought it was all okay and he was done in seconds. Trail's cold. If it's somebody they want to make an example of or get some information from they take him somewhere and then they have to do all this other work and take all these risk and it probably isn't worth it. So it's kind of insulting if you want to just limit my expertise to being floating people or something that stupid. I drove a Mercedes Benz 6 years because I bought a Mercedes Benz 300. I bought it on my credit card my liability insurance was super low I gave 1500 for it and I paid for it on my credit card to keep it running bought all my fuel to keep track of stuff and by the time I got done other than fuel the whole car repairs and insurance and loan and everything cost less than the insurance required on anything that they would loan you from a bank. I dare you to say hey guys look here we got to finance code she's going to teach us not to hand our money out the bank and other places.
