Biggest tip I've got for the stomp is changing your input impedance to 1ohm for full frequency if you want that. Or change it to match the amp model's original impedance for more realism. Really helps on bass and baritone. It also changes how the amps and effects react.

That is really overlooked on all systems this one, the fractals, even the Avid 11 rack.

I've had a Stomp for about 2 years now, got it used for a steal. I've gigged with it and recorded with it until I got the Axe-FX III. I've commented a few times on various videos that I think it's the best guitar purchase I've ever made in terms of value. Plenty of gear has come and gone in that time and this has stayed rooted firmly to my fly board. It sounds great, it's really easy to use and Line 6 are still updating it all the time. There are limitations of course but that just forces you to be extra creative.

Amazing vid Leon! Last night I worked with Micheal Schenker Group and their other guitarist was using nothing but a single HX Stomp and that was it. Sounded mega and definitely kept up with the 2 full stacks Schenker had

Excellent sounds. I've gone back and forth with HX amp modeling for years but as a utility/fx box; the Stomp is really the ultimate. Such a great little pedal that is jam packed with functionality.

Stupor OD is my favorite drive in the Helix for the "tube screamer" trick to clean up driven amps. The clarity it adds is just SO good.

That was a thoroughly enjoyable tour through many HX Stomp Effects as seen through your experienced background and skilled hands. I hope you do more videos like this, particularly on the Amps & Cabs, for the following reasons.
I've had an HX Stomp for about 1.7 years. Until recently, I hadn't known/appreciated that many real "Guitar Cab Speakers," including Classics like the Celestion, have shocking steep high frequency cutoffs around 4-5kHz! The Celestion G12M Greenback has a Frequency Range Spec of 75Hz - 5,000kHz (based on the Chart at Celestion), and a steep High Cut dropping the volume from about 107dB down to about 77dB in a steep line slope in the range from around 3.5kHz to 7kHz. I'm not sure if I calculated this right, but I think that is a 30dB decrease in one octave!
The Stomp Cabs have a high cut "default setting" at 8kHz. Depending on your use: Live, Studio, Headphone, etc. those settings could be good or bad. In general, I find the stock Presets to be way too bright, and are "out of spec" for most real Cabs. I think this may be the source of many complaints of the Line 6 Helix Modelers sounded harsh, thin, lacking feel, etc. Lowering the High Cut is a good way to remedy that. Knowing this information has made it a lot easier for me to dial in Presets appropriately so they sound good through Monitoring Headphones, and feel, sound, and perform more like a real Amp.

Nice video Leon. You went through a lot. All of it are the same reason I really have come to love my HX Effects. Line 6 does some excellent effects. And going into my Mark V, I just get some amazing tone. I really favor processors for effects these days being able set presets using particular effects and then the saved screenshots in them switching and off effects in one button hit. I used pedal for years, but am not a pedal guy. You've got all those great amps behind you. I would love using an HX Effects into then and having all my presets I custom set for each amp at call.

    That was fun.
I've been using an HX Effects for several months now, 4CM with a Catalyst 100 for mostly clean, ambient, new wave, jazz, funk. Recently put the HX Effects in front of my Marshall 50 W full stack and it works great.
Besides the "wild and crazy" effects which I don't use often, the HX Effects has just about everything I want and need in a compact package. I use MIDI to control the Catalyst, for boost on/off and setting the amp model for the preset.
The combination of HX Effects and Catalyst 100 is very versatile, though I don't like the crunch tones (I use my Marshalls) or the modern high gain tones (I use my Engl), and would need to spend more time dialing those in. In the Catalyst I use Clean, Boutique and Chime.
    Cheers!

You know, I think we really do live in an amazing time. I’m about to release my first record with my (for now) solo project I’ve been working on for a while now, Blackened Death Metal project, and I did everything on my laptop all the guitar tracks recorded directly with my Helix (and Eventide H9 for some external effects, I’m in love with the Undulator effect, I use it on almost all my clean tones) Guitars are just the Revv Generator model Red Channel with the Horizon Drive into an IR. Wether you play Axe-Fx, Helix, Kemper, Neural, these things make life so much easier to get easy access to great tones. 👌

There is an extensive thread on TGP called "replicating-my-favorite-pedals-with-helix-hx" which contains tons of inspiring settings of various effects. That alone would give enough content for another vid like this.
Must-try-tip: HALO Delay settings for the Crisscross Delay (#216).

HX Stomp seems like an incredible unit. In the mini modeler world I think the Boss GT-1000 Core wins if you’re looking for an all in one solution, but as a multi fx with an amp or something to complete a pedalboard, the HX Stomp just has so many advantages no other mini modeler can touch. And balanced outputs!!!
