I love the guys flies, but can't stand his videos... 30 minutes to get through a woolly bugger? No thanks. Tightline and Fly Fish Food have the formula down right.
I take the time t listen to Kelly as he has such a wealth of knowledge and a historical background that most new guys don't even know... it is more than just tying with Kelly... But the Huge Fisher fly man here provides an entertaining alternative... Heck I don't miss any of his videos... Oh! and the best part is than neither of them give a darn about how others feel about their style... Authentic! Keep it up!
If you are new you need to watch Kelly’s video tons of knowledge to learn! If you know what you are doing an just looking for a pattern to tie definitely too long. I enjoy all of Kelly’s knowledge though.

Enjoy your videos. I've pointed a couple guys at you who want to learn basics quickly. I've heard you say you don't often carry two poles. I do because I fish mostly saltwater with a big tidal exchange. There is a sweet spot in the tide were there's some good structure so loosing even a few minutes switching flies can mean the difference between catching a fish in that tide cycle and not. I'm fishing for Bull Trout in early spring and Sea Run Cuthroat in late spring and summer. The occasional salmon as well. Thanks again!

Ok on the name of this fly alone I have to tie it up. I found the wet fly pattern from Davie McPhail many years ago called the Goats Toe. I tied a few just for the crazy name sake and boom, it has been a KILLER fly and a staple in my box forever. I have great hopes for the "Goat Roper". Here in Western North Carolina we have some massive stoneflies, so I cant wait to give the Goat Roper a whirl. And great video HUGE Fly Fisherman.

I changed the color to a slight yellow, added a tiny set of barred silly legs to the bottom, then added uv resin to the wing case... NOW can I call it my own thing :)

It's amazing how much useful info you pack into 10 min or less videos (v. 20 min + @UCk2DJldSE7hhQTU8rjNHeYw videos that fail to convey the essential info that newcomers need. Wasted 22 min. trying to get any useful advice on "streamers for trout" other than hire the guide they had and buy new line or tippet)
