    This is also the battle that inspired Tolken while writing "the lord of the Rings "for the Battle of Helm's Deep

      wasn't it the charge of the Rohirrim on the Pelennur, not Helm's Deep? Cos in the book the reinforcements at Helm's Deep are all Infantry...

      What inspired him was the charge of the Visigothic king Theodoric during the Battle of the Catalaunian Fields (Battle of Pelennor Fields)

      @Komisarz_Bart 7 місяців тому

      The Gondorians are Romans and the less civilized Rohirrim are Visigoths. Theodoric is Theoden, and both kings die during the battle, repelling the attack of the barbarian horde from the east.

    As someone of Polish descent, you will want to watch if you haven't already, Sabaton's "Uprising" and "40:1" live from the 2012 Polish Woodstock festival , a massive crowd of about 550 K. The first one about the 1944 Warsaw uprising, the second about the 1939 Battle of Wizna when Germany invaded Poland.
    If you haven't heard yet, Tommy Johannsen left Sabaton (amicably). Thobbe Englund has come back to replace him, Tommy replaced Thobbe in 2016. You will see Thobbe in the Woodstock videos.

    Big cheers from Sweden and hugs Poland and Sweden also have deep connections not always good though.... But mostly better ones. Poland has a rich and proud history because they have so many legends and many cultures connected to Polish ways. From vikings, Mongols, hunnicavar, and ostrogith etc.

    The song that launched a thousand memes. And while the Polish Hussars were possibly the greatest heavy calvary I feel the Mongols were the overall best calvary force in history due to their mobility and use of compound bows.
    For those haters that claim they glorify war, they should be forced to listen to En Livstig i Krig, the Price of a Mile, Christmas Truce, or the Hammer Has Fallen.

    Hussars were a formation that can now be compared to tanks and special units. To be used, hussar armor had to pass a ballistics test - a gun shot. Their equipment amounted to millions in today's money. The best horses (everyone had several of them), weapons, accessories in the form of diamonds and emeralds in sabers, skins of leopards, wolves and lions. The hussar's lances usually ranged from 4.5 to 6.2 meters (15 to 20 ft) in length and were provided by the King or the banner's owner, not by the regular soldiers. A large 'silk'/taffeta pennon pennon was attached to the lance below the point. In addition, they carried a lot of other weapons.

    As a fan of Polish history you should check out their live performance of 40:1 from woodstock in poland after the song the whole crowd sang the national anthem. The song remembers the Polish Spartans a small unit who held their unfinished defensive bunkers for days against overwhelming German assault bying time for the main army to retreat. The song became so revered in Poland the head of the Polish church presented the band with a priceless antique sword from their collection during one pf their frequent visits.

    It is a fact that the hussars, if used well and well commanded, were unstoppable in their best times (mainly in the 17th century). This is proven by the Battle of Kircholm, probably the greatest triumph of the hussars apart from Vienna, I recommend reading the story about it.

  • @Tyberos-r3h
    @Tyberos-r3h 7 місяців тому +1

    Actually, there is a lot more to the story. The basic fact is that they charged the line when, in fact, the Polish king and the Lithuanian Commonwealth not only smashed the Ottoman lines and provided relief to them in the castle at Vienna. Small units actually chased Ottomans back to Turkey, and any groups and encampments they encountered were destroyed along the way, making it clear that they didn't want them in Europe. Vlad tried the same thing, only to be betrayed by the Italians and the Pope when he asked for aid. He and his army killed upwards of 40,000 Ottomans but ultimately was betrayed and beheaded.

    Greetings from Poland. Unfortunately, this animation does not reflect the spirit of these events at all, although the song itself is great. I recommend this version of the music video: ua-cam.com/video/CxlRJsQ7p2k/v-deo.htmlsi=sC9t60aUaTwQvZVY. Since we have common roots, please respond to other Sabaton songs about Polish history, such as:

    is a story about the greatest hero and the bravest the world has ever seen. A man about whom a film should have been made in Hollywood a long time ago, but few people in the world have heard of him. Captain Witold Pilecki.
