100% agree on Imperial Guard. The bones of the army, the datasheets, have a lot of play. I've been running two squads of 20 Kriegers with a Krieg Marshal and Primaris Psyker attached to them. 4+ invuln in shooting and 5+ FNP all the time, and D3 Kriegers come back each round. I have played that with a backbone of tanks and artillery, and almost every opponent falls into the same trap: they go for killing the tanks, thinking "that's the threat". The tanks focus on killing off anything anti-infantry capable, and come turn 3 the tanks may be gone, but the opponent is left with two hefty blocks of Kriegers with 40+ OC sitting on two of the center objectives, and they just can't remove them.
Guard have a lot of flexibility in style across the board to pull off things like that, particularly playing the scoring game really well. All of that while being played with one of the more middling detachments; half the strategems cost 2CP and the detachment rule is marginally helpful after the update (prior to it was far worse). If Guard keep their datasheets somewhat similar to what they are now, and get a wide spread of detachments to bring more power to those varying playstyles, we'll likely see them bump up the rankings pretty quick.
I think the reason Siegs thinks nids players are low on their faction but they feel "fine" from the other side of the table has something to do with Nids having a few key issues that you only feel from playing with them and our faction quirks tend to bias people into thinking we're better than we are. namely, nids are very good at generating close games even when we have no chance of winning, and the swingy nature of battleshock makes it easy to think "oh but what if this had gone the nids player's way?" without realizing that the actual odds of it going our way is pretty low.
that said, i think nids rules are in a way better place and the faction just needs the points to be closer in line with the rest of the game
See I agree with you about the causes, but I think the complete opposite for the solution. Maybe this is just my favoritism of strong fighting ability, but I think their reliance on shenanigans needs to go for the most part, vanguard onslaught can keep some but their army rule needs to be changed to be Killy to fit the nids vibe, most of the battleshock focused stuff needs to be changed because battleshock is weak (and the only way to make it strong probably makes it too strong), and a lot do their stats across the board need to be buffed, especially in melee and monsters, sometimes to the extent it should be buffed and then get points increases to compensate (looking at melee warriors here, should probably be like power fist statline with more attacks but a higher points cost, and a lot of the monsters just need to be better). And then some detachments, mainly harvester and crusher need a major overhaul as well, crusher needs to feel like scary monsters and harvester just needs more units to be harvesters and it needs to be more effective. Endless also probably needs some adjustments but the needs there are less severe. Synaptic and invasion are mostly fine and just need better units, and vanguard might be fine but might need adjustments after all those other changes but at most in the same bucket as swarm.
But overall I think the battleshock based abilities need to be completely reinvented as new abilities for the most part, battleshock is just bad as a central mechanic, and some of their datasheets probably need to be looked at to preserve the vibe that they seem to want.
If all you want is vanguard to be good and invasion/synaptic to be somewhat playable I think your suggestion works to make them in a decent state balance wise, but to both fit the tyranid fantasy of murder bugs and to make them feel more truthful to play against in how strong they feel playing against them compared to playing as them they need to be reinvented in some pretty major ways rules wise.
Spains drukhari did pretty well at WTC! 😊
I won my first tournament last Saturday using firestorm sallies. I feel like firestorm, despite it's nerfs last patch, still can compete. Hestan with comp heroes and agatone with bladeguard and ignores mods is big. The dev wounds is still good, but only for aggressors now.
Tyranids are good and versatile, people just like complaining. I've had solid success with them both before and after the slate.
THIS GUY GETS IT
Awesome painting tips at 19:00
The problem with dark eldar is Quinton isn’t Skari and neither are the other players playing dark eldar. He seems to be the only one that can make that army beat players that are on the same skill level as him or better.
I think it’s heavily dependent on the lists. I haven’t seen them run a list that I saw made sense. I think quite a few of the wtc teams seemed very good.
I think they see pain tokens as a resource and not something you have to plan around earning.
In the UK there is a great player named Darren Chapman doing weird and wonderful things with realspace raiders
What list is Darren running?
Quintons last DE list was pretty close to a solid comp list, but he clearly isn't super familiar with the army as was making some rules mistakes and sequencing/positioning with scourges.
Give DE, portal for 0 pts that is basically a rhino with assault ramp with 17 dudes inside carried by an archon
Good call on the WG and aeldari as a whole. This is one of your best takes and you have many.
I love how no one is underestimating LoV 😂
Tyranids are so versatile and cool, it's crazy how people are negative about the faction. Only downside is you NEED some of the meta monster bugs to perform, and their new range is a little weak in general (except for autoinclude Neurotyrant 😅)
Hello! Loved the stream, was wondering about chaos space marines, and planning to start with some terminators and chosen because I love those models, could I just ask, why is veterans of the long war never really brought up when discussing CSM? And it’s always either Pactbound or raiders?😅
It doesnt seem to do much extremely well which is difficult to justify over other detachments that have standout abilities and styles of play
When youre talking about Drukhari scourges, why not take 1 scourge with a dark lance, so you always have something to shoot with?
They’re not a team that does moderation. They always spam and brick things out… They’re a Teams team and they review Singles lists through that lens unless it’s a very popular faction
@@andybandyb I was under the impression it was a fairly common tech. Take a single dark lance in your haywire blasters, so if you accidentally overkill a target, you can send a dark lance 36" down to tag something, and still fire and fade.
That tech is very good in ynnari where you have the reroll to hit and wound saved for the lance when needed.
We have more collective singles event wins than any other group by a mile. Teams just happens to be an amazing amount of fun and we are loving it
@@andybandybI'm pretty sure AoW competes in mostly singles and only sometimes joins in on the teams for fun (and for being good enough to make the teams)
My main issue with Tau is that, well, it's just *all wrong.* You either play auxilliaries or you play with no auxiliiairies. There's no stealth detachment. There's no generic stealth commander. Lots of cool units people love to use are in legends. Lots of uncool units frequently become meta over and over again (can I PLEASE stop being told to buy Riptides "or I'm playing it wrong" after 23 years playing this faction and hating those damn things?!?) But this is a problem with most factions. Necrons coolest unit? Triarch Stalker. Triarch Stalker is trash. Ork coolest unit? Deffkoptas and the jets. All trash. Tyranids? Parasite of Mortrex and Raveners, trash. Eldar coolest unit? Warp Spiders. Not trash, but have the oldest sculpt IN THE GAME. Tau coolest unit? Remora Stealth Drones, ACTUALLY SQUATTED and were NEVER ONCE good. The only faction where the cool units are good are Guard (Kasrkin, Sentinels - but Valkyrie is trash) and Spess Muhreens (Infiltrators)
Hey Jack and Seigs
I miss Fix My List. Any reason why you guys decided to stop doing it?
It just wasn’t as popular as our other content pieces
@@ArtofWar40k That's a shame.

On the money!
Nassim would do fine with and without Bullgryn he is an excellent player
First? Woot!
Bullgryn feel like such a crutch for certain pro players. Its just more mindless datasheet spam, like nassim spammed manticores and kaskrin datasheets before the nerf. Take away their toys and watch them fold, long term Guard players with list variety will be fine in the long run.
