Honestly, I can’t decide if I love your building or lore videos more. I’m so glad I don’t have to choose! 😅 The cinematography and depth of field in this video is stunning as well.
Thanks Melanie, that means a lot. I put a tonne of work into the visuals for lore videos, some of the 10 - 20 second shots often take anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes to set up, and loads of stuff off-camera that you can't see, but augments the scene further. There's plenty more to come!
Imagine... just for a moment... that Funcom plans to bring down the walls of the Exiled Lands, to unveil the whereabouts in the world, connecting the Exiled Lands to the Isle of Siptah. Then, in a surprise development, announce that the entire lands of Age of Conan have been redone (& slightly reimagined) and also made accessible in the Exiles engine. Classes are still not something that exists and sorcery is still imagined and implemented in the Exiles style, but suddenly, Conan Exiles becomes the MMO that Age of Conan almost was! That would be grand! :)
How dare you!... How dare you not making a movie of al adventures of Conan this is the best intro, complete and resumeta history to make me search more of exile lands and be in love with Conan adventures. You are awesome!

Glad you enjoyed it! Grim's work is great, I've worked with him before and his wealth of knowledge on the source material is crazy. I think with so many open-ended interpretations of things, it's natural that people come to different conclusions

I understand from a game play perspective that the player has boundaries to the world. Why would anybody make a situation where their enemies can not leave. Also, the war happened long ago, people breed, and babies don't get born with bracelets. Only one generation of people could possibly be controlled by the bracelets.
I can see the logic behind using TEL as a prison, it's almost completely inescapable under guarantee of magic. There are a couple of plot holes but I think there's a way to close them. Firstly, the Keystone lets you out, but it's a one-time-use item. My theory is that only one person can ever use the keystone, seeing as it destroys otherwise irretrivable artifacts, hence why Mek etc never mention it or attempt to craft it. The second is the babies question. I personally think the bracelets might restrict or completely stop conception, thus you couldn't have free children born within The Exiled Lands. I'm likely gonna end up diving into these two holes a bit more in a future video, if and when they're relevant
@Eradicati0n if the bracelets did prevent breeding, it would be a logical form of control, but I would still want humans to breed to bolster my supply of human slaves if I were a giant king, Klael says their race doesn't reproduce as fast as humans. There wasn't any reason for control before the war, and any rebel human wouldn't permit their babies to get a bracelet once it started. I honestly think there should be more people, free people that lure dipsticks across the ghost fence. 👻
@@Eradicati0nn Funny there is mentions of unfinished ending where in draft, all exiles were walking out of Exiled lands, pilars that make up ghost walls crumbled, and your character was to walk with Conan and Razma of Shem to go on new adventure, idk if that is true, which sounds better then what we got from base vanilla ending in game.
I've done a couple of these lore videos, one for the Exiled Lands and another for the Isle of Siptah, though I do have a stab at trying to identify their locations.
Some of this is directly contradicted by the Archivist and what we know of Thoth-Amon. The Archivist specifically states that he came to the city and was able to disable traps, wards, and knew what he needed to take the Ring. He came with purpose. There was no stumbling. Thoth studied and plotted. When he lost the Black Ring of Set he was all but powerless and likely learned of the Serpent Ring of Set through studying Acheron lore given that that nation would have been founded by survivors of the up rising in what is now the Exiled Lands. Thoth likely heard about a "Unnamed City" from Relic Hunters and Adventures travelling through Stygia. He then would have done his research realized what they had found and worked on locating the information he needed to find the ring and retrieve it. He likely sent Relic Hunters into the City himself to verify the location and get him proof that the Unnamed City is the City where the Ring was kept. When Thoth arrives the Archivist account was of a man on a mission. It was likely after that, talking and reading that he realized that the bracelets could be harnessed still and could give him great riches not to mention a place to disappear people to for a profit. That is my only real objection here. Though I should say Thoth is also an advisor to Cestepus and was corrupting his mind so getting the deal set up would have been fairly trivial. I am really surprised Ibis wasn't an option in the game given that Thoth was originally a Ibis acolyte and priest and many of his more dangerous rivals were outlawed Ibis Priests.
I kniw its a bit older of a video now but it put into perspective is fun. and for me now age of war fits as well. I missed the first part of it but my uead cannon now is that The Stygian army has now come because the sorcerer heared of Mek-kamosa's ritual (i forgot the spelling sorry) and stopped him from finishing the ritual that would free the prisoners and to take any artifact s tue exiles had gathered (thus why the new purge specifically goes after your treasure).
they must be in eastern stygia close to the flame mountains or whatever. that would explain why that girl you save from the mask possession say that she might travel to the north with Conan to Shem. But still that makes little sense why there is an ocean with an extinct Lemurian civilization to the East that you can reach by row boat.
I am probably interpreting too much into the lore stuff but I wonder: I'm Funcoms MMORPG Age of Conan we are prisoners of Thoth Amon too, via Acheronian Marks and the lesser Acheronian God simply called "Grim Gray God", he is creating a slave army for his endeavors. At the end of the main game you kill Thoth Amon in his Stronghold together with (king) Conan (gameplay-wise in the T3 raid with many other players). Did his death have any influence on the Exiled Lands? Was the Exiled Lands and the resurrection of the "Grim Gray God" and the creation of the slave army in the main Lands of Hyboria 2 parts of a plan? Would be very interesting to know if they made any connection between the two games in any way but I doubt so and it's just me interpreting more than there is.
What an amazing video! Great lore knowledge and stunning visuals. First class 🥇 You should make a video on how this is done, it would be very interesting. Barden did a great stream where he showed how he makes a build video and it was excellent.
Glad you enjoyed it! The Priestking did persuade the Warmaker to unleash the sandstorm, though he only did so under influence of the Staff of the Triumvirate. The Khari did also get destroyed by Thag after their empire sunk into the earth, though there are a few more steps between the earthquake and the summoning ritual. I go into a bit more detail on the Khari in my dedicated lore video on them
Thoth spent a lot of time travelling across the world. At the time he reached TEL, the cursed walls were functionally inactive, as the Lemurians were gone and Thoth was not bound by a bracelet
@@Eradicati0nn wait, so if the Lemurians were gone then doesn't that mean the wall WAS functional? It went up when they were there and the giant kings cursed their bracelets, trapped them there and then betrayed them correct? So doesn't that mean that by the time Toth comes along there would definitely be walls? Am I confused time line wise?
@@wintersteale As far as we know, the walls are always active. The Lemurians may have found ways to bypass it, as they were potent sorcerers, but they also may have simply had children and grandchildren that were not bound by the bracelets. Thoth would have passed through the cursed walls, but he wasn't wearing a slave bracelet. Therefore he, and others like Kurak, could pass the curse wall without dying
That is a very good question, I'm honestly not sure of the answer though. We don't have any examples to look at in-game, and assuming they could cauterize the wound properly and avoid infection, they could survive. I suspect the reason we don't see that manifesting is because TEL is incredibly dangerous. Not only do you risk infection from a wound like that, but missing a limb is a huge disadvantage. We might be able to find out something from Mek, once he gets a new body, but I suspect it will remain and unconfirmed "what if" for a while
@@Eradicati0nn I mean, what prevents the exiled ones to leave the TEL is the bracelet, righ? So, if one just simply cuts off the hand, they should be free to leave, right?

Wait! so if Conan didn't do what he did with Mek there's a chance all the exiles could've been free? Would this make Conan unknowingly an enemy of the exiles?
In theory yes, though he likely had no idea what was going on, he just saw sorcerers and the Princess in danger. I doubt any exiles will by stepping up to fight him though 😂
