This library is dope! Thanks a lot for the review!
Ashton I bought this a few days ago and I'm STILL going though all the content! Just when I though I was about finished I was like, ah damn, another District. (sigh). This library is indeed Colossal! Not complaining, but I'm gonna have to go have Christmas dinner now or my family will kill me. Have a great holiday and thanks for the video!
Great review, Ashton! Thanks for the effort you've put into this! Ark3 just made it on my wishlist.
Also thumbs up for your cat :D
Oh my God dude... What an amazing composition!! Awesome Job!
Thanks for sharing this AG!! old one but great one!!
Great review! Happy Puncturing and Happy Holidaze!!
In light of just purchasing this library, I fucking love the piece you wrote for this!!
This is awesome stuff and it sounds so tight. I love the sound of the strings and that string quintet is definitely something I miss in other libraries. That raw, direct sound is wonderful.
Just awesome!
Oh and this time you didn't use the word "extraordinary". :D
you are completely awesome, i like the way you mix these ethnic stuff with the orchestral part...hope to see you make the scoring when you choose the base ,triple... Many Thanks
Dude! I love how you played the Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Awesome!
Such a cool little track.
Really dope and unique sounds. Wow.
Can u make a video about kontakt ? I mean little shortcuts. Or how to automation some paramaters that u have to link them
It's really original, this show that you are a good composer 👍
3:27
ok you made me smile
Sublime!
Nice work mate love your videos. I just wanted to ask, I have ark 2 and I have a lot of noise after the samples especially on the strings and piano. I was wondering if ark 3 is like that and ark 2 for that matter as support said it's a normal amount of hiss as they were playing very quietly. I would like to know if yours
is like that as well. Many thanks
JUST GREAT
What is tour opinion about blending diffeente libraries, problems with Metropolis and Albions?
Cool!!!Thenx!!!
Hello AG ! You have a lot of skills and experience, and still you are so young! Also very amazing on recalling and playng with a lot of ease so many soundtracks! Speaking of those, do you think is possible to make a video in which you show us the most relevant chords and scales heavily used in movie scores? Thanks a lot for your efforts to share your knowledges with comunity! I wish you all the best , great hollyday and i am pretty sure that You will become a very important figure of Hollywood talents among the greatest !
TchaikovskyLover I have a video about that in my tutorials section of the channel! :)
Does the Albion series and the Ark series compliment each other well, or do they have too much in common and redundant to own both series?
Great work as usual! I always learn a lot with your videos. I find interesting that
you used Metropolis Ark III more as a "punctuating" nervous background than as "in your face" epic texture for this specific composition, which shows the versality of this library. I'm wondering anyway if (apart from some of the solo percussions) there are means to use it any other ways than with those very punchy agressive tones (which are great of course), in other words what kind of dynamic can we find exactly on Metropolis Ark III (is it all fortissimo ++...)?
Vlad ELS thanks! it’s pretty similar to Ark I in terms of the dynamic range. Overall the library is very punchy, atonal and in your face. But the percussion stuff is excellent and I can see it used in a variety of settings!
Thanks very much Ashton! I think I'll go for it. Keep doing those great videos, you're doing a tremendous fantastic work especially with your "behind the score" videos! thank you for all those great music lessons!
Vlad ELS thank you! Please do let me know if you have any ideas for future videos :) always looking for recommendations.
Well I could find dozens of ideas I think! one that would be great I think is the The Alan Silvestri score for Abyss or perhaps the score of Kenji Kawai for the firts version of Ghost in the Shell from Mamoru Oshii or some "classics" (Bernard Herrmann, Jerry goldsmith, Basil Poledouris, to name a few...)..anyway every score in any genre that you will deconstruct/re-build will keep my attention!
Does anyone notice that these libraries have a lot of latency? When the midi plays back I have to nudge or use cubase delay setting to play 13 early
How can we prevent this? I don't use Cubase
Great track Ashton! Very unique with the Gypsy flavour :) Which MIDI keyboard and monitors do you use?
Thanks! I use the Komplete Kontrol S88 (v1), and I don't know whether you are talking about studio monitors or computer monitors, but I have Focal Alpha 80s, and for my monitors my top and bottom are just LG TVs and the sides are Dell gaming monitors. Hope to eventually upgrade to a 4k monitor for my main though!
Just a heads up: Cubase is not yet compatible with High Res displays so you might want to wait until they announce that feature (hopefully Cubase 10)
Netrex good to know. Thanks!
Studio One 3 then :)
That's the one I use but i'm no way as skilled as Ashton Gleckman and although it serves me well I don't think Studio One 3 is for Ashton at this current version.
1st of all, great review as always. 2nd, you used a nice choir in one of the previous videos and it was Metropolis but when I clicked the Ark 3 link below it doesn't show any choirs in the highlight. So does it have any choirs? and if not which one has it?
bacaca23 Both Ark 1 and 2 have incredible choirs.
Thanks Ashton. You're the maaan. Are going to do any events in the NAMM?
Nope, but I'll be there! :)
If you could only choose one Ark, which one would you recommend?
If you are going for your first ark, go with Ark 1. Orchestral Tools and Native Instruments have a great deal at the moment where Ark1 and Ark 2 are on sale as a bundle for $499. FANTASTIC deal!
What version of Kontakt does it run on Mac OS?
What company makes the Charango VST?
Spitfire Audio www.spitfireaudio.com/labs/
What is the difference between ark 1and ark 2 and ark 3 is it evolution.and if i have ark 3 is enough?
The ark installments couldn't really be more different, the 1st one is all out epic, second one is super quiet and sonically incredible, and the third one is sort of just pure chaos, tons of effects, some harsh shorts, percussion, piano effects, etc. You can read the full description of the libraries on the website.
Hans Zimmer is a genius. I just took his masterclass
How was it? I am thinking of taking it as well.
I've been trying to decide which library to buy. I'm between Albion One x Metropolis Ark 3
buy both
@@felixlechat1780 I got them ✌
@@danilokb so which one is your favorite? Can you playing alot instrument live on keyboard?
@@felixlechat1780 Ark 1 is definitely more aggressive and epic. Albion One is great too and can be more useful if you want to write any kind of music.
Yes I can play some instruments in a basic level.
@@danilokb its what I thouht yah probably need to buy both Lmao! Well explain thx
did you learned music theory to do so ?
moshiko azraf yes music theory in orchestral music is must
Not correct, but it's fucking helpful to say the least.@@skyfire3498
LIL UNCLE SUCC Well, if you want that your music is not just minimalist but really interesting harmonically and technically, you have to learn music theory, inform yourself of how the instrument work for having an idea of a real orchestra, and those kind of things. I’m personally learning orchestration BEFORE start to make orchestral music
